La Siesta Resort & Villas garners praise for its exceptional service, with staff that are often described as friendly and attentive, although a few guests have encountered inconsistencies. The resort's location is a highlight, beloved for its stunning views and easy beach access, complemented by a handy shuttle service. While some guests commend the spacious and clean rooms, others express concerns about their condition and feel misled by promotional materials.
Cleanliness across the resort generally receives high marks, ensuring a pleasant setting for guests. However, opinions on the atmosphere are mixed, with some finding it to be basic. Despite the array of amenities, which include water activities and options catering to families, visitors have voiced their wish for improvements, like heated pools, and question the resort's value, pointing out the steep pricing and extra charges.

We spent an enjoyable 4 nights in a garden view room. The room was very spacious, clean, nothing fancy but had all basics, including kitchenette with a mini fridge, Kuerig coffee machine and small microwave (no other kitchen items provided except coffee pods and cups). Beds were comfortable, nothing extravagant but our backs didn't bother us. The bathroom was surprisingly small, not much space to put toiletries, but was clean and functional. The resort was nicely landscaped and spread out which gave it a nice keys vibe. The pool and bar area were great, enjoyed chatting with Marcus at the bar. As others have noted, a full bar would be nice. There was plenty of space along the waterfront to relax or throw a pole in the water and enjoy the views. We did visit their sister resort Amara Cay for drinks and food, but too much of a commercial hotel feel for us, food was average. We really enjoyed the shuttle! Kudos to shuttle driver Jacquin (not sure of the spelling) who always graciously opened the door for us and was very personable, played great music. Also shout out to shuttle driver Nick. The front desk staff was always polite and helpful, and served a basic complimentary breakfast in the morning. Our main negative would the room cleaning or lack thereof. Our room seemed to be cleaned less and less each day - by the last day it was never even cleaned. We ended up going to the office to get the needed replacement items for our room. Other than that we had a most enjoyable stay and would return. I would also like to note that they do have a pretty sizable daily resort fee, of which I’m really not a fan, but we thought was worth it given they provide shuttle service, daily breakfast and other activities.

We enjoyed our stay at La Siesta Resort however have seen first hand how the lack of upkeep has caused the once luxury resort to appear run of the mill. The two shining stars at the resort were Demetrius & Marcus. Demetrius reached out to me often to see how he could help us maximize our stay by helping us contact services outside of the resort for excursions. Marcus was at the pool and was beyond courteous and made us feel like we were VIPs. As for the stay, we had the same room as when we visited in 2022 and in much worse condition. One of the closet doors was removed and the other I removed as it was broken. We asked for it to be removed from the room twice and it never was. The "free" breakfast was lacking available water and charged for the items you'd want and the rest of the staff did NOT go that extra step to assist. It's was many of these simple things that make a 5 star review become a 4 star! Our return to the resort is unlikely for that reason.

Friendly and quaint! Right on the beach with beautiful landscaping and the friendliest staff . Inexpensive resort fee covers use of bikes, paddle boards kayaks and plenty of fresh beach towels. The very best staff I have ever experienced in many years of traveling.

I had high hopes for this place especially with the amount of money we paid and what everything looked like in pictures on their website. Sadly, all of the pictures we loved, were NOT from La Siesta, however, they were from their sister resorts Amara Cay and Postcard Inn. Our room was your typical beach front room, so really no complaints - however our toilet seat did not match our toilet and our couch was filthy which was disgusting. My brother and sister-in-law also joined us for our trip and their experience was even worse. They had to get their room moved because their bed was literally sunken in right in the middle of the bed. They also had plumbing problems in both their old room and upgraded room, the shower wouldn't drain at all and neither would their sink. Their fridge in their room didn't even fit in the spot it was supposed to go in, so their fridge was sitting out in the middle of the room! Their toilet seat also did not match their toilet...we could have switched toilet seats and we would have a perfect match. Their toilet was square and ours was round yet we had a square lid for a round toilet and they had a round lid for a square toilet. The furniture looked like they picked items off of the side of the road and put them together. The resort didn't even try to refund my brother or give a discount, nothing and they had more problems then we did! The "bar" that they have their doesn't sell hard liquor and their alcohol is extremely limited as well as their food. They mention they have a restaurant on the resort...it's the bar that barely anyone works at. I wouldn't eat there personally. The only good thing about the place was the views and the use of paddle boards and kayaks, as well as the location in Islamorada. It's very small and quiet which was nice however during our stay there was a huge group of obnoxious and loud people breaking all of the "pool rules" and no matter if you complained, no one did anything about it. I would stay during the week so you don't run into any crazy people and you can relax. But I wouldn't spend all of that money to stay here anyway. I recommend spending your money and stay at Amara Cay if you have kids or Postcard Inn. Both of those resorts are absolutely beautiful, well kept and have everything pictured on the website. I mean La Siesta said they have fire pits...no where to be seen. The one that we came across didn't have wood, chairs, nothing. I was pretty disappointed with this resort and we were so excited because we were spending our babymoon there. The young staff was great, especially the ones that work the kayak and paddle board rentals, also, our bus/shuttle driver DaQuan (spelling?) was freaking awesome!! If I could give him a million stars alone, I would. He needs a raise for everything he does!

We ..a family of 4 …(2 adults with children aged 4 and 6) had booked a balcony ocean view room in Amara Cay resort over New Year. Inexplicably, we found, at the very last minute via email, that this reservation had been cancelled by third party “Booking.com” …when I rang Amara Cay to question why, they said they could find no reason why the reservation had been cancelled but, as it was a third party, they could do nothing about it and were sad to tell me that the room had been given away… However, we were offered an “upgrade” to a more expensive family room in the Amara Cay’s neighbouring sister hotel, namely “La Siesta Resort and Villas”…sounded good… HOWEVER: We were given a room (105) which was neither in the main resort overlooking the ocean nor in one of the villas on the beach…no, this was on the ground floor of an apartment block hidden behind the resort…very much a side show afterthought we found… This room was sizeable…but more resembled a glorified youth hostel than the 5 star luxury that was advertised: shabby…with a ridiculously small bathroom where you had to squeeze in next to the toilet roll holder to sit on the loo, a shower with tepid water, missing plug in the sink… The room looked to be set up for self catering with a number of huge cupboards and drawers in a kitchen area but all were completely empty..not one kitchen utensil…not one cup or glass or plate or saucepan…not one piece of cutlery… The WiFi didn’t work in the room. Situated on the ground floor, the room had no balcony, no privacy and no view. The 2 chairs situated outside the sliding doors were essentially on a public footpath with a view in one direction of a large brick wall and in another the adjacent hotel carpark!! The resort has no restaurant. The resort has no bar (besides daylight hours pool side) I could go on… Saving grace: the resort is in an excellent location and we were impressed by the shuttle service ( which we used a lot in our quest to find somewhere with a restaurant!). My main complaint is the over promising of a luxury resort with the under delivery of a very basic, poorly furnished room with no view and all the above mentioned failings. All at a cost of c. $800 a night…just for the room I repeat…$800 a night…just for the room

Dear BaldBasil, It was a pleasure to welcome you to our beachside abode and we thank you for taking the time to share your review. As a leadership team, we place great value in the reviews shared by our guests as this feedback gives us a glimpse of what our travelers most value and where we can further enhance the experience. We are sorry to learn of the troubles had with the online travel agency used in booking your reservation and we understand the alarm that the cancelation would cause. While we were happy to jump to the rescue in offering one of the few rooms that were still available within our collection, we are sorry if the room felt as though it had not been perfectly prepared. We appreciate you sharing your concerns and are once again sorry if space fell short in any way. Your accolades of our Shuttle Drivers will be shared with our team, and we can assure you that endless smiles will be the result. behalf of all of us, we hope we can one day win your heart with a more enjoyed Islamorada visit, and when you next confirm a reservation, may we suggest booking directly on our site as we’ll be better positioned to offer assistance on any questions related to the reservation. Once more, we look forward to shining our brightest upon your return. With sun and sea, Marilynn Taylor Front Office Manager

Do not stay here if you are looking for a comfortable and restful vacation.
We arrived at checkin time and were told the room wasn't ready and we'd get a call. No call. Returned to the front desk one hour later and room was ready.
Walked into room, feet were black from floor. Dog hair on floor. Dog hair all over couch. Went to front desk asking for floor to be cleaned. Agreed that next day was okay. At the same time, another guest was asking to be moved because her room was filthy. Another guest was asking for floor, bathroom, etc, to be cleaned.
Master bedroom window mini blind does not cover the window completely so people below can see in. We covered this with a bag and ironing board. See photo attached.
The fan in the master bedroom is clearly controlled by a remote outside of the room. Light would tune on/off randomly. Including 6am on Saturday morning. Similarly, the fan would turn on/off and be in reverse. Our remote must be controlling someone else's fan too.
Master bedroom is poorly insulated for sound including a 1 inch gap under the door (see photo). Awakened at 7am on Saturday by a child screaming and playing on the beach and adults yelling. Combination of sound amplified by building design and poor sound insulation. Awakened on Sunday by next door room's dog barking at 8am after housekeeping entered, which continued until 845am. Housekeeping also arrived at our room at 820am telling us the room should be empty despite a checkout time of 11am.
For the price this hotel is asking per night, stay somewhere else.

I've lived in Miami for 10 years, and seldom stay a weekend in the Keys, but to celebrate my mother's 70th, we booked La Siesta based on the information presented on the website and knowing their sister properties from day trips and word of mouth. From the moment I started getting 'reservation changed' updates via email without any follow up or information, I should have cancelled. The room block we stayed in; advertised as a 2-bedroom which was in reality 2 separate, keyed hotel rooms on separate floors with an unlit stairway between them, was as basic as they come and so poorly designed and furnished it was depressing. No vents in the bathroom (one of which's door didn't open fully as a bed was in the way), drains were clogged, 'heated' pool was definitely not heated, and all other 'amenities' were lacking. They go over and above to ask if you need anything via text, but if you do, no one does anything about it or you have to ask not 1, 2, or 3 times, but maybe the 4th time's the charm.
Luckily, Amara Cay is moments away and we had my car. Based on the level of service and timing of said service, I wouldn't have wanted to know how long people waited for the shuttles. The view (not from our room; they put us as close to the road as you can get) and proximity to water are outstanding, and this place has a lot of potential. What it came down to most for me to leave this review is the way that the rooms are marketed (misleading and inaccurate descriptions - these are not luxury accommodations) and the ability for management to have placed us in the hotel appropriately. I was with my 70 year old mother and pregnant sister, which was communicated to them, and they didn't think to tell me that they were putting us in the room furthest from the social areas, up 2 sets of very steep stairs, and divided between 2 rooms. We booked the vacation to be together, and made the best of it, but La Siesta did not deliver.

Upon entry, the resort looked very pretty. The staff was very nice and helpful at check in. The property itself seemed to be well kept and clean. The walkway paths made us feel like we were in a tropical paradise. However.... the rooms were very simple, the bath fan did not work, so it was like a sauna after each shower. We booked 2 garden view rooms and we were at opposite sides of the building, which was not ideal for our family of 8. The "garden view was a few palm trees and the building next door. The "kitchenette" was only a fridge and microwave along with a Keurig. There were paper and plastic cups provided but no additional kitchen utensils. We were offered house keeping on one day and did request towels. We had to ask for extra toilet paper. The pool was decent and had many very used pool noodles to use. The beach games were nice for the kids but many items were broken. The kayaks, paddles boards and bikes were a nice addition to be able to use. However, the "private beach" was disgusting. The seaweed was overwhelming and made the entire resort smell horrible. The Wild & Lime did not have any food available. They said the grills and fryers were broken. So, we had to venture off the resort for every meal. The Post Card had a good Tiki bar but the service at the restaurant was less than desirable and everything was very expensive. Unless you have a boat or jet ski, I feel that we paid a great deal for nice pools for the week, had to pay a great deal extra for any activities or excursions that we wanted to do and would not recommend for a family vacation. We felt that the resort was very over priced for what we received and what the website promised but did not provide.

We were rebooked from the Postcard Inn because of renovations. As we had stayed at the Postcard several times before, it was a difference between heaven and hell. The reception was extremely unfriendly, the cottage was not clean and the kitchenette was a joke, no fridge, just a hole and a small fridge in the middle of the room, no cutlery, no plates, no glass, nothing, just a coffee machine with paper cups, the rooms were not cleaned despite asking three times, there were no fresh towels, and no coffee was refilled. There was no selection at the pool bar, just canned beer and soft drinks. For €530 a night, just awful, you can't find the words to describe how bad it was. We do not recommend this hotel and we would like to warn everyone not to book here.

While the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the grounds were well kept, many of the amenities did not exist. The so called bar had beer and soda only. There was nowhere on the grounds to get food, or mixed drinks even though their adds show both. You can go to their sister hotels and have those items charged to your room, but you will have to drive to get to any of them. Staff were very nice and apologized for the missing amenities. Other than those two things we enjoyed our stay.
