We’ve stayed at the Islander several times (Oceanside & bayside). We have always been happy with our experiences. This family trip we stayed in the townhomes on the baysiside. It is the perfect location to walk to several restaurants/shops, etc. We will definitely be back again.
Very nice 2 bedroom condo in a great location. Marina is very small. 22' Pathfinder was too wide for most of the slips but we made it work. Beds were very comfortable, living room furniture not so much. Kitchen was minimally stocked so bring it if you need it. Great restaurants and brand new Publix all very close.
Great location. Walking and boating distance from most restaurants and bars. Perfect for 2 couples with 2 king beds and 2 full bathrooms. The boat slip is a great amenity. Very peaceful place to stay.
Look around you can do a lot better. Sewage smell at the water front so strong we could not use the pool or our water view deck. Used tampon directly outside our townhome on the sidewalk that any service person could see and dispose of. Two unexpected and unannounced entries, no knock or phone call ahead. One from an exterminator the other from maintenance. Not enough tableware. One six inch skillet to prepare breakfast. No potholders. Kitchen totally lacking for cooking real meals.
The rooms are all very nice and it is a good place to stay for families and people who need more space. The pool looks very old fashioned and motel-ish, especially compared to its sister resort The Islander. There was also a very bad sewage smell around the pool and a pond of dirty sitting water that I suspect the smell was coming from. You can’t really swim in the beach area either. I didn’t see anybody ever swim or play in the beach area while I was there. There is a big sign that says beware of snakes, and we saw several large sharks in the water just feet from the beach edge. As other reviewers have mentioned, there have also been crocodile sightings on the beach. Since the beach is not very usable, everybody uses the pool so it is always very crowded. If you are a couple visiting here, expect the pool to be crowded with kids all day long. For the cost of the room, we were expecting nicer amenities and pool area so it was a little disappointing. Bring bug spray if you go! We found a bunch of biting bugs in our bathroom that bothered us the entire trip. My legs are still completely covered in bug bites. Pros are that the staff was very, very nice and polite and friendly. The location is great and close to a lot of places around Islamorada too.…
