FULLY REIMAGINED: Islander Resort is a serene slice of paradise in the Florida Keys. Our breathtaking oceanfront getaway is situated on Islamorada's most picturesque piece of shoreline- a lush, white-sand stretch dotted with gently swaying palms and bordering the deep turquoise of the Atlantic.

Islander Resort's prime location is highly appreciated for its scenic beauty and proximity to local attractions. The resort exudes an inviting atmosphere with its modern amenities and tastefully decorated spaces. However, guests have experienced a mixed bag regarding room quality and service, with some noting unresponsiveness and outdated rooms.
Noise levels from construction are a significant concern, disrupting the peaceful environment. While the amenities receive positive nods, the value proposition is questioned due to perceived overpricing and misleading promotions.

We booked The Islander Resort because we wanted ocean front accommodations. Our room not only met but exceeded our expectations! The resort staff was friendly and attentive. Our fully furnished patio and sandy beach leading up to the water front was exquisite. Imagine waking up to turquoise waters during your stay on Islamorada! The tropical landscaping and impeccably maintained grounds were just beautiful. The beach furnishings were plentiful and we loved the Adirondack chairs and lit fire pits for evening our evening pleasure. We took advantage of the all inclusive dining experience with al fresco breakfast dining at the Elements restaurant and had a fab casual dinner at Tides. We highly recommend The Islander Resort and will definitely return.

This resort is beautiful. On the water and the room are cottage-like with a refrigerator and microwave. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was housekeeping. We had no housekeeping at all. On day 4 I asked for coffee pods and trash removal and the housekeeper seemed irritated This was not an inexpensive resort and I would expect fresh towel, coffee for the coffee maker and toilet paper. That said the front desk people were pleasant and helpful. I would give it another chance but would be more assertive about basic room housekeeping The resort was location conveniently to restaurants and groceries (Publix)
With a small effort this could be 5 stars

This is my 3rd time staying at the Islander Resort. It's conveniently located in Islamorada in the Florida Keys which allows you quick trips south to Key West or north to Key Largo. We were able to drive to Key West and back for the day.
The hotel was undergoing renovation and closed both pools but offered a ride to their other property on the bayside to use their pool facilities. For the inconvenience they provided a $100 credit at the resort to use for food and beverages per day and I took full advantage of it, saving hundreds of dollars.
They provide many amenities including beach chairs, gym, bicycles, games, etc. but they do charge a $49 @ day fee for this. Parking is free and very close to your room.
My only two complaints were the bed was very firm for my back, but they provided me with an extra comforter I placed beneath me which helped make the bed more comfortable. The other downside is the water in the bathroom sink didn't heat up fast enough in the wee hours of the morning. After 7 or 8 am, the water heats up faster.
Overall, I enjoyed staying at this resort. Its landscaping is impeccable, and the room was large with a small, covered patio you can sit at. They had a fireplace right outside my room with plenty of Adirondack-style chairs to warm you up on those chilly nights during the winter. The restaurants have great food, and the service is 5 stars. You can walk across the street to the Lorelei Restaurant which is a locals favorite and offers one of the best sunset views in the Florida Keys.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I shared all of our concerns with the manager on site at checkout and all he said was to please fill out the survey I would get in a few days. WHAT? So I filled out the survey and a day later received an email form the general manager saying he heard that we had a disappointing experience and would like to speak to me. I called and left two messages and still a week later have not received a call back. Just another example of the terrible service and lack of help and caring that the resort seems to have.
We checked in and we were treated rudely upon arrival. The "welcome" speech they gave other guests explaining resort amenities did not happen. Our room was nice however the ceiling fan and light would go on and off randomly including late at night when we were trying to go to sleep. Our free continental breakfast that came with our room rate consisted of partially thawed frozen muffins and a tiny plate of fruit. No juices, etc. - the continental breakfast at a chain hotel is far better which shouldn't be the case for the very high price for our stay. All employees were rude, and the resort appeared short-staffed so employees in the restaurant were short tempered and rude. Food at the only lunch/dinner restaurant took 45 minutes for a burger that was made incorrectly and waited over 30 minutes for a replacement which we finally had to physically go find someone to help track it down. All amenities that were listed on the website were not available including a restaurant and food truck on site. Housekeeping showed up at 5pm to clean our room as we were getting cleaned up so we asked them to come back the next day and they didn't. It was one bad experience after another compounded by managers that simply did not care or try to improve or make our experience better. Do not stay here.

People that work there are RUDE. For check in, no one but a cleaning lady (who wouldn't look at or speak to us) was there. Waited about 10 mins to see a front desk person. We are on our honeymoon and we were put next to a room with 2 very loud kids that woke up at 6am every morning. The pictures portray a much better view than reality. No warning of construction going on here. No room service/cleaning YET and on day 2. I'm STILL waiting on towels and washcloths to shower after asking for them 8 hours ago and again an hour ago...For the money we spent to stay here for the week, I am sorely disappointed- AT LEAST give us more towels and washcloths daily!!!

Hotel is way overrated and definitely under delivered. Most days room service didn’t come by, take out the trash or even swept the floor. Service was not up to par at all. The beach bar was way over priced and under poured the drinks by far. One morning the front desk even woke us up to inform us that they would be spraying off the patio, which they never did. There was maintenance being done at 6:30 am and when I spoke to the front desk they offered me a discount on the room. Lastly they talk about how comfortable the beds are, well, don’t believe that either, they were hard as a rock. We even asked for the sheets to be changed and they too, no surprise, didn’t happen. Not a place we would recommend. You can find a place much cheaper and better service and quality.

As first-time guests, my wife and I just spent the 2024 Labor Day holiday (August 31-Sept 3) at the Islander Resort. Having traveled around the world and the US, and reading some of the negative reviews, we wanted to provide our point of view of what we consider an incredible facility. Hopefully this will help future new guests when deciding to stay at this facility,
From the security employees at the guarded entrance, to the check-in process with the front desk employees, to the maid services, restaurant and grounds keepers, every single employee we came in contact with were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The room was beautiful, modern and up to date, with branded flip flops and snacks awaiting our arrival. Our patio led to an incredibly beautiful view of a wide sandy area with a sports area, water sports rentals, palm trees and the pier. The pool area was clean, the grounds were spotless and raked every morning, the view both north and south on the beach area was phenomenal.
The outdoor bar-restaurant is now complete, and the tiki area is near completion. Food is available at the onsite restaurant and at the temporary outdoor bar area (it was awaiting completion of the actual outdoor bar.
I went so far as to ask the front desk receptionist if competitors were trying to influence their business, with negative posts, as we encountered absolutely nothing as described in some of the negative posts.
The resort is in the process of completing renovations on the rooms directly behind the main office, but this did not impact our stay at all. Of course there is construction fencing around that area, but it does not impact views from any of the rooms they are currently renting.
There are a number of restaurants within walking distance (Mango Mikes is amazing for breakfast) with other restaurants within a short drive. It is the Keys, with great food on every corner.
In summary, an absolutely beautiful resort with amazing beach views, employees and service with owners that have spent a tremendous amount of money to update the facility.
You will not regret staying here.

We absolutely loved this resort and hope to come back every year! It completely exceeded our expectations. The staff are all so nice and the location is beautiful. The beach/pool never felt crowded, it is spaced out really well so you never feel like you’re on top of anyone. We stayed in room 426 and it was far enough away from the pool/beach where we didn’t hear any noise but close enough to make going back and forth throughout the day feel easy peasy. It felt clean and we loved how every room comes with a screened in porch. The morning sunrises over the beach were stunning and while you do have to “step down” into the ocean like previous reviews mentioned we didn’t see that as an issue and there is also a walk in Sandy entrance to the ocean a little further down. My husband loved the basketball hoop right on the beach and we appreciated the little shady beach huts for shade. The food we ate at the Pool bar we loved and thought was reasonable. The Element Restaurant was a little on the pricy side but we liked the fruit in the morning (coffee is included as self serve). The only super slight con was we didn’t love the Elements Restaurant dinner the one night we ate there, we felt it was a little over priced for what you received and the menu was kind of lacking. Chicken dry, the peaches were not ripe and were crunchy in the peach salad. But we don’t typically eat at the resort anyway with so many great Seafood restaurants around! Also, dogs are allowed on the beach which is fine but we had to step around some dog pee puddles in the sand a couple times (and try to remind our toddler daughter to do the same).
All in all we loved this resort and plan on coming back and bringing more family with us next year.

My friends and I recently enjoyed a delightful stay at this resort, and it exceeded our expectations. The rooms were tastefully decorated, creating a cozy atmosphere that truly felt like a home away from home. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the large beach area and very well maintained pool area, perfect for unwinding under the sun. If you're seeking the ultimate “tropical island” vacation, look no further. We're already planning our return trip!"

Last-minute booking turned out to be a huge disappointment. In the area on business and had planned to leave the area but endedup staying overnight. Called the hotel while I was driving, and the agent claimed it was a 4-star property. It's not even close. Arrived late hoping for a relaxing dinner at what was billed as a "resort," only to find dining was limited to ONE outdoor restaurant at the pool. This place doesn't match its high prices at all.
The pool area is shabby and unappealing. Our room seemed decently renovated at first glance, but it's all flimsy materials that are falling apart. Housekeeping is a joke - towels folded with someone else's used lotion and a hair stuck to it, how disgusting! The shower dispensers for wash and shampoo were either empty or broken. Unacceptable for what they charge.
If you're looking to spend this kind of money, go to the Ritz Carlton. Whatever genius they hired for their online photos deserves an award, because what they show online is not what you get in reality. As a travel agent myself, I cannot recommend this property. Cheeca Lodge is a far better choice.
My room was near housekeeping, where they piled junk against our porch wall. Clearly, no one cares here, from housekeeping up to the GM. Extremely disappointed. Thankfully, our stay was under 15 hours. We left to eat elsewhere, and they did provide a golf cart shuttle, driven by a genuinely kind local.
