The location of this La Quinta is pretty well equal between Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach. Which actually puts it in the middle of nowhere, next to a strip mall and opposite an outlet mall.

Unfortunately, I never utilized the hotel's pool, therefore I am unable to answer this question correctly. I would assume women can wear a bikini but you never know.
