If you want to go on vacation and not wear a mask or a have any guests around you wear masks this is your spot! The hotel staff told us they were mandated by corporate to wear them, but of the thousands of guests we saw on property hardly anyone wore one. Not in the lobby, not in the hot tub, not on the shuttle and certainly not at the bar.

Hotel's Favourite
We loved everything about this resort. After reading some luke-warm reviews we were prepared for flaws-the only flaw was that there were no tea bags in our room. No worries-I asked and I received. I especially loved the safety protocol in place for COVID19. We felt safe and secure. We had our dog with us and our room was located in a quiet section of the hotel where we opened the patio door and the dog could do her business in the grassy area right there. No worries, we would take her to the field below for her to run around as well, not to mention daily beach walks with her!! The perfect pet friendly vacation! The bed was very comfortable and just cozy! I could say that the bathroom fixtures could use an upgrade but still adequate. The staff was the friendliest all around-always smiling and greeting us! Food was great at Sea Glass and Marches. The pool bar food was just average but didn't expect much in the end of Jan. We expect to repeat our stay here next year because it was SO relaxing and comfortable! Highest ratings!

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room. Some rooms are near the pool and they play music during reasonable hours.

We stayed at this hotel Easter week and had a great time. There are a few things the resort could do to improve the guest experience. I’ll list those at the end. First the good: The resort is beautifully situated right on the ocean on a quiet strip of Amelia Island. We booked a premium oceanfront room and it looked like the website photos. The room was very quiet and comfortable. The view from our balcony was phenomenal. Direct view over the pools and out to the Atlantic. We loved that view and looked forward each morning to throwing open the balcony curtains to greet the day. We were blessed with perfect weather which enhanced our stay. Check-in was easy. Every staff member was friendly and helpful and followed Covid precautions. If you self-park, be aware that the garage is a block away down a hill and not in the immediate hotel vicinity. You can unload in front of the resort, however, and a valet will take the luggage to your room. The pools were large, heated and nice. The adult pool and adult hot tub are closest to the hotel. The large family pool (it varies in depth from about 3 feet to 4.5 feet) is just past the adult pool area, closer to the beach. There is a family jacuzzi as well as a separate shallow pool/splash pad area for very young children. The resort has loungers/umbrellas around all the pools as well as various types of cabanas you can rent. Resort towels are provided and were plentiful. There is pool service (bar/food) on the pool decks and a restaurant/bar adjacent to the pool area. All the servers were friendly and working hard, but there was sometimes a line or a wait as the resort was quite busy and perhaps understaffed for the number of guests. The hotel has 402 rooms and was sold out when we were there. Outside the pool area is a boardwalk to the beach. Chair and umbrella service is available for an extra fee, starting at $50/day and going up depending on type. There is no bar/food service. The beach is very nice but be aware that there are no facilities (restaurants/bathrooms) nearby, other than to return to the resort. There is no destination to walk to on the beach, which is totally fine, but just know that you can’t walk down awhile to find an off-resort restaurant or bar. The resort is huge and has paved walking paths to other areas: Omni restaurants, shops and entertainment (nature center, mini golf, cornhole, table tennis, golf course, spa, playground, etc). It was harder than it needed to be to get food. There just isn’t much right in/at the hotel, lines were long and the prices high especially after 5 pm when the menus changed. It was about a 10-minute walk from the lobby to where most restaurants were: Natural Slice (pizza), Falcon’s Nest (burgers) and Marche Burette (breakfast/deli). The hours were weird and some restaurants were only open certain days. Food overall was OK. Marche Burette had good breakfast and decent deli options. The pizza place was awful. Fernandina Beach has great restaurants but are 20-minutes away. We went to Salt Life, Timoti’s Seafood Shack and T-Rays. All were good and recommended. There is a Harris Teeter grocery store about 4 miles from the hotel entrance that has a hot food bar and a nice deli. There’s no microwave in the hotel rooms, just a mini fridge, further limiting food options. Some things the resort could improve: There’s no maid service until after the 4th night. I am not sure if this is due to Covid or a cost-cutting measure. You have to call the front desk for extra towels, water and coffee and to have your trash emptied. The shower was wonky. It was almost impossible to turn on and we had to call the front desk for instructions. You have to pull the knob towards you very hard, to the point you are sure you will pull the handle off. The water was instant hot, though, and had good pressure. The pool policies are another area for improvement. The hours are sunrise to sunset, which was approximately 7:30a-7:30p when we were there. We thought 7:30 pm was a rather early pool close time, especially as the pools were heated. Food/Bar service to the pool deck ends at 5 pm! The pool attendants start removing towels from the loungers at 5 pm as well. The resort should better address the way that guests claim pool chairs . To claim a (free) lounger, guests get up early to put a towel on a chair to save it. So many guests did this that there were no loungers left by 8:30 am or so. Many guests left the towels there all day, whether they were using the loungers or not. There was no enforced policy for unattended chairs. We did very much enjoy Amelia Island, overall, and the Omni Resort and look foward to a return visit. It's a solid option but could be a great one with a few tweaks.

Understand Covid has made things more difficult for businesses to function, but basic cleaning is something that should not fall by the wayside. They don’t provided room cleaning due to COVID, ok i understand. But the facility was overrun with people not wearing masks they packed to many people on the shuttle bus and door handles, windows, public restrooms and pool was disgustingly dirty! The rooms have broken drawers and old dirty switch plates on the walls. Bedding was stained and windows you couldn’t see out of. NOT Good!

My wife and I just stayed there to celebrate her birthday. It was Easter weekend so the hotel was full. The hotel is clean and the resort is great. Everything is clean and kept to a high standard. My only two issues were they are not enough pool chairs (no room for more) and they let guests put towels on the chair to reserve them. If you are not up by 0830 then you won’t get a pool chair. I did notice plenty of chairs with towels to “reserve them” and nobody ever sat in them. In addition families held chairs for kids when the kids were in the pool the whole time. Plenty of people had no place to sit. They need to prohibit and enforce the holding a chair with a towel. My second issue was this is a resort and some of the restaurants and the spa were closed on Sunday and Monday. We pay to be at a resort and have all amenities available to us. They need to rethink this.
