Henderson Beach Resort is celebrated for its pristine beachfront location, often praised for both convenience and spectacular views. While the resort's atmosphere is generally admired for its festive holiday decor and modernity, the musical ambiance may disrupt some guests' peace. The resort's rooms and cleanliness receive accolades, though value is questioned with extra costs for basic amenities. The spa, pools, and beach services are highlights, despite some concerns about limited ice and early closures. Service is lauded as professional and friendly, with occasional slow dining service noted.

I read a T&L article where The Henderson Resort in Destin was a top ten resort in Fla. Not sure I agree they are a Top Ten. Maybe top 25.......

Pros: The property grounds are stunning for sure. It is right across the street from the beach and has a few restaurants within walking distance and several on property which are good but very pricey. The beach here is amazing and we love the adults only pool. Pool drinks are good too, just expensive which you expect at a nice resort. Great location and our view from our room overlooks the pool and Henderson Beach State Park and we have nightly sunset views! We are in a 1 bedroom/2 ba in The Lofts unit 305. They were able to honor a early check in request which was super awesome.

Cons: I read some reviews before booking and now I can see where they do 'subcharge' you to death. Upon check in on Sunday they indicated I could park under the Lofts for $25/day. I was waiting for my entry code or parking pass to place in the car and the new lovely front desk team member indicated the entry was not restricted. I asked so anyone can park there? The manager stepped in overhearing the conversation and said they check the deck daily and use the 'honor system'. After pushing a little more she reduced the rate to $15/day. After much more discussion and she was obviously irritated with me, she said we will just take the charge off all together. I really appreciated that but it took much discussion. The chairs and umbrellas are about $15/20 day which we are only using for a few hours a day. After questioning that, the lovely beach attendant said he was not supposed to, but he would only charge us for 1/2 day. Again, I so appreciated that but why isn't that a standard choice for 1/2 day charge as we are not ones to spend all day on the beach? Also on my estimated bill there is a $48/night amenity fee which includes the bikes, boogie boards and entry to the state park. I would think the chairs/umbrellas could be included in that fee. There is a departure cleaning fee for the Lofts of $140! They will clean daily upon request for $50/day! I had to track down a housekeeping team member in the hall and ask for another trash bag. She gave me one.......I am here for an entire 7 days. Still confused why I should be responsible for a departure cleaning fee when you would have to clean it anyway when we check out? For families planning to visit, there is a Dollar Store down the street and I picked up some garbage bags and paper towels there. Lastly, there is a NON refundable damage waiver fee of $75. If I dont damage anything I am still charged???? These subcharges just feel like a way to up the total bill.

This is a nice resort for sure but I will try the Inn at Crystal Beach down the street the next visit. The gen manager here may want to visit The Jekyll Island Resort in Ga we recently visited from a service perspective. They have no exit cleaning fee, no charge for chairs/umbrellas , no damage waiver fee, and no parking fees.
Thank You, Katrina King

This was our third time back to The Henderson. After parking our car, other than a few walks along the nearby streets, we never left the property. All their Covid19 procedures are well explained on their website & gave us confidence that it was time to get out of our house.. The beach was beautiful & having the State Park next door gives you plenty of open space to enjoy the sun, sand & emerald gulf waters! The fine dining at Primrose in the resort was truly outstanding as was the sashami & sushi at their sushi bar. The rooms are totally sanitized prior to check in & the daily housekeeping options we choose were executed beyond our expectations. The Spa is partially open & massages are available & relaxing. We found the employees to be courteous, well trained at their jobs & always appreciative of the management & owners.

Arrived early and was put on a priority list for check in. Was given access to the facilities while we waited for a room. An hour before check in time I checked the status of our room and still not ready but was told it shouldn’t be much longer. Then at check in time went to get our room and still nothing available and no ETA could be given. Nobody at the front desk acted like they cared. 20 minutes after check in time, tried again, no room available still. In the meantime I saw several other groups get checked in and given a room. Nobody had an explanation other than the room type we were getting wasn’t ready. While talking to the lady, she tells me they can offer an accommodation when these types of things happened and asked if we had dinner reservations and how we parked (assumed I’d be given some sort of concession here). Then 30 minutes after check in time finally have a room ready. Nothing offered for the inconvenience, barely a care or an apology. Expensive parking, resort fees, and on site food and drinks. Don’t allow you to bring your own food or drinks to the pool or private beach. The room was decent, the view was the best part. Shower soaked the floor, toilet ran, terrible hand soap. Minimal TV channels. Comfy beds. The resort itself was really nice and convenient. Nice pool and gym. Games for the kids. Quick walk to the beach. Pool service staff, valet staff, and housekeeping staff all really friendly and helpful. Last day took my daughter to the boutique and she found a toy and wanted to buy it with her own money and the boutique doesn’t take cash. So we didn’t buy it and my daughter came to tears over it. And this while they were working to allow another customer to buy something with cash. The experience of the resort was fine but in my opinion not worth what you pay for. I would expect better service from the registration staff and more reasonably priced food and drink on site for guests.

My fiancé and I visited The Henderson in September 2020. We enjoyed the resort very much. There are 2 pools; one for adults only and a lazy river and pool which are open to all.
The beach was immaculate - but the chair rental was expensive considering you are paying north of $350 a night for the room and a resort fee on top.
We ate breakfast twice and enjoyed it both times. We had dinner once at horizons. The shrimp and the oysters were phenomenal.
Considering we went during Covid-19 90% of the experience was great. Lots of staff cleaning high touch areas. Sanitized room. We decided not to have housekeeping. However, the other guests, particularly in the bar area did not all adhere to social distancing. People were sat closely at the bar area and no masks were worn by patrons. We were uncomfortable with this and took our drinks to our room.
There are some great restaurants near by; The Back Porch, Crab Shack and Pazzo Italiano.
We stayed for 4 days and it was just the right amount of time.

Had to start telework due to the new spike in infections, and wanted to visit someplace relatively safe AND relaxing! Thrilled to find the The Henderson’s takes health precautions seriously. 100% of the staff (to include senior management) wear masks. Even during the off season, they have a team of folks disinfecting everywhere.
On top of that, the wifi is super fast and strong everywhere (including the hot tub)! If you are going stir crazy with being locked in, and you want to get away while still staying productive, hit The Henderson!

We stayed here for our mini-honeymoon in October and had an absolute blast! We drove in from Texas and although Florida is not much for wearing masks The Henderson still enforced a mask policy with their staff and encouraged guests to wear them. We REALLY appreciated this and felt a lot safer! The resort is absolutely gorgeous and is well kept up, they definitely pay attention to details. The resort was busy but not crazy and we never had to fight over pool chairs or to have our own space. The bar at the beach is nearby and there is a server in the adults pool area. We loved this! We had massages which were amazing! The women's side had their own steam shower and spa tub which I highly recommend using after the massage. We also tried all the bars and restaurants during our stay and they were all fantastic.

I cannot rave about the staff at this resort enough. From check in, valet, servers at the pool, bars and restaurants, the guys at the beach- everyone is so friendly and helpful! We loved the entire resort and were shocked that there was such a gorgeous, high end resort in driving distance of Austin, TX. We can't wait to go back!

We arrived early but room was not ready but we were given a resort key so that we could use the pool or beach access. Only had to wait about 20 minutes to get into room which still put us in before the check in time. Adult pool was nice, except for one afternoon when a large group including 2 small children piled into the hot tube! Other larger family pool was also nice. Pool food/beverage service was nice and fast. Short walk to the beach. Bring your own chair unless you want to pay $40 per day for 2 chairs and umbrella, which we thought was worth the price. Beverage and food service on the beach as well. Only downside was the constant helicopters flying over and the construction next door, our room had a great view one direction but to the right was the construction and road noise so it was not pleasant to sit out on balcony.

I read previous reviews about the walls being really thin, and I should have listened to them. You hear EVERYTHING at night in this resort. Whether it's people in the room next door, people above you, even the elevator moving. But most of all, when the A/C turns on in your bedroom it's like someone just turned on a vacuum cleaner. We had maintenance come and look at the A/C but it was only a minimal improvement.

Just know you are paying for an elegant, luxurious resort, but getting much less. In all the hotels I've ever stayed at over the years, I've never experienced the pools running out of towels. And this isn't even a large resort, and they aren't selling all their rooms. Completely inexcusable. This actually happened on 2 separate occurrences on the same day. So upon walking back to our room soaked, we call to have some extra bath towels sent to our room and they never delivered them. Very poor customer service.

The Henderson Resort is beautiful and the location for this stay was perfect. Loved looking at the gulf, overlooking the pool and caught every sunset from our Loft balcony.

But let me explain my low rating. It starts with the clogged toilet in the hall bath. If this bathroom was sanitized for COVID, would the housekeeping staff not have known this toilet was not working properly? The dust underneath the bed was disgusting along with previous guest's medication near the headboard. We borrowed a swifter from the housekeeping closet and dusted the floor along with the baseboards in the bedroom. Opened the fridge/freezer to check for ice. Quickly dumped the ice from the previous guest and noticed the warning light to change the water filter was blinking. Again, if this appliance had been wiped down and sanitized, would housekeeping not have noticed this needed to be changed? Woke up the first morning to find ants crawling on the coffee maker. Smashed a few and didn't think too much about it, but then the second morning was much, much worse. We did call the front desk to address these issues and they were resolved by engineering, except for the ants. Two days later, the ants were in the bathroom. We did not mention that the grout in both bathroom floors was broken and missing, stains on the rug in the living room, mold in the shower, and stained baseboards in the bathrooms from water damage.
For all the extra fees you pay in addition to the room rate, we were expecting more., perhaps pristine conditions. When we discussed the previously listed issues with the chap at the front desk, it is obvious he was offended or doesn't like his job. The night before our departure, we received a call to verify our check out the next morning. We were asked how our stay was and we reiterated that the ant problem was never resolved. We were told that a credit would be forthcoming for our inconvenience, but we did not receive that based on our folio received by email.
Check your accommodations upon arrival. Wish we would have done that... we would have asked for a different room.
