Stayed here to visit family for 3 days. Werent spending anytime in hotel room other than sleeping and showering. Got a better rate on Tripadvisor than at front desk. This resulted in them giving me a sub-prime room. Room was clean but shower barely worked....More

Overall, the property is a little unusual, architecturally speaking. However, the room was good, and when we had a problem with the shower, the front desk sent someone down right away to solve what was a minor problem.

Not that close, but which beach are you talking about? There's a nice beach at Fred Howard Park, which I'd guess is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel. The beach at Fred Howard Park is very nice and a short drive away, but, the beach at Caladesi Island is world class! I'd recommend it if you have the time to go there. I believe the nearest town to it is Dunedin, and you have to go to the state park there and take a ferry to the beach. As I recall, the ferry costs about $5.00 per person, but it's worth it. It's a nice short ride through the Mangroves to get there, and there is a locker room where you can change into your swim suit, a snack bar and a shower to rinse off.
Caladesi Island beach is well worth the extra drive and the fare for the ferry. If you're only going to one beach, splurge and go to Caladesi!
