Detailed Reviews
We were able to check in early and lucked out getting upgraded to a beautiful, spacious corner room that was newly renovated and gorgeous. The room had 3 balconies (one was off the bathroom), a neutral/taupe color palette and plenty of natural and artificial lighting. We love the current trend of hotel rooms, such as this, having engineered wood flooring and just an area rug under the bed. There were plenty of outlets for electronics, a comfortable long desk with upholstered chair, plus other furniture. The bathroom was completely new but only had one sink and limited counter space, although there was a usable bottom shelf. The stall shower was a decent size and contained both hand-held and fixed showerheads with excellent water pressure. Bed was very comfortable and linens were crisp and high-end. We did receive full housekeeping service the next day upon request. With the current renovations going on we only heard some occasional light drilling during the day which was not a bother. There was advance notice that we would be without water for 3 hours one afternoon. All indoor common areas of the hotel were spotless and all staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.
The expansive grounds are impressive with lovely landscaping, multiple pools, water slides, lazy river, mangroves, etc. The pool lounge cushions are faded and worn though and we were disappointed the gazebo did not have the swing benches anymore. Food at the pool restaurant was very good and portions were large. Tarpon Bay had a nice atmosphere, good service and decent food but it is pricey and we were not overly impressed. The breakfast buffet at Tanglewood was very good with excellent service. There were disposable gloves for guests to use but IMO the hotel should have a sanitizer station present at the buffet. There was an omelette station, good variety of hot and cold foods but only 2-3 kinds of pastries/muffins available and those were tasteless. Valet service was quick and you request your vehicle by texting. We were surprised that the valet staff do not provide water bottles for guests. Other than those few nitpicky issues, we were impressed overall with the renovations, service and amenities and would highly recommend this hotel.

Very clean and relaxing experience. Staff was always friendly and easily accessable. Pool areas are clean and the pools are kept at nice temperatures. Pool staff were hard working and kept all teh areas clean when others were coming and going. The conference rooms had good sound quality and were easy to locate with bathrooms in close proximity.

With the recent news of the CoronaVirus the hotel staff was very attentive to the event taking place... I have never seen such clean restrooms, we never ran out of soap and paper towels for washing hands during our event.. I continually noticed staff cleaning the restrooms our event was utilizing and the staff was always cheerful and helpful.

Disappointed with the lack of cleanliness and Covid regulation compliance at this resort. This is the first time that my family has gone anywhere other than the grocery store since the lockdown began in March. We did a great deal of research and based on the reviews, we decided to visit this resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We booked a king room with an adjoining room with double beds for the kids.
When it was time to settle into bed, my son pulled down the blanket on his bed to find blood spots that were soaked through the sheets, mattress cover and splattered onto the pillows. I called the front desk to let them know that this room was not properly cleaned or sanitized prior to our arrival. I was told that housekeeping staff was gone for the night, so I’d have to remove the bloody bedding and they’d send fresh sheets up for us to make the bed ourselves. Obviously I was not going to expose myself or my family to some random persons blood. I was also not going to allow my kids to sleep in a room that had not been cleaned after the last guest checked out.
I moved the kids into our room until it could be properly cleaned the next day. Upon further inspection of the room, we found French fries stuck to the carpet next to the bed as well as stuck to the curtains.
Although the room was cleaned the following day, my younger son was not comfortable sleeping in there after finding the blood. So, he ended up staying in our room for the entirety of our trip. Under normal circumstances, this is disgusting. But, during a global pandemic, it’s absolutely unacceptable.
The second day of our trip, we visited the beach on the island. When we returned, everyone wanted to get showered to wash off the sand. I put my son in the bathtub in my room. Once he was done, I planned on getting in. However, the water would not drain. I had to call maintenance to come unclog it, which took a lot longer than expected because the clog was so severe that the worker could not get it out with the tools he normally uses. He had to go retrieve another special tool that could reach further down. This caused us to miss our anniversary dinner reservation that we had made at a nearby restaurant.
Lastly, in the 4 days that we spent at the resort, not once did I see an employee cleaning any high touch surfaces (door handles, elevator buttons, railings, etc.)
This is something that I expected to see and I was very disappointed that it was not occurring. Also, there was absolutely no social distancing occurring out by the pool. The area was extremely overcrowded and lacked employee presence to implement Covid regulations.

We took our three kids ages 3 (twins) and 6 for three nights in mid March. We had stayed once before last year and overlooked a lot because it was during cover; however, things should have shaped up by now. We decided to go back to Hyatt over the JW Marriott because they had the lazy river and water slides. BIG MISTAKE. If you like over priced room and food and poor service then this is the place for you! We paid $3600 for three nights with two adjoining regular rooms. There is no housekeeping at all. NO fresh towels or trash taken out. This is unacceptable not only for a Hyatt but also for what they are charging per night. There's also no room service and any food you must order at a restaurant. Not exactly convenient with three young kids if you want an easy breakfast in the room. Also, not on the beach. Have to schedule a ferry to get to it and bring your own towels etc.
We bought a cabana for $500 one day. Another BIG mistake. TV didn't work and poor service. We ended up just walking to the bar to get drinks instead of having someone come to the cabana as the wait was long and the one time we did order it never came. We order food by the pool and 20 minutes before 5pm we had three different people "remind" us that we had to "get out" by 5pm. Our food arrived right at 5 and we were told to get out very rudely by the manager Emily. We have gotten many cabanas throughout our vacations and have never been rushed out or told to " get out" by anyone. Especially with what they are charging and that there's nothing to clean inside it. We had one by the lazy river so it wasn't a private room. just a couple couches with towels. No bathroom or shower to clear/clean.
We stayed at the JW in Marco 4 times in the last two months and highly recommend you spend your money there if you're looking for a family friendly resort with housekeeping, room service, and friendly staff. They also have actives planned during holidays and spring break for kids like movies at the pool and build a bear. Hyatt had nothing. Not one activity or even pool games for kids even though I was told when I called front desk a few weeks prior that their would be activities for kids.

The outside of this property is amazing. Four pools, great pool bar/restaurant, lovely property. The lobby is also lovely, but it ends there. The rooms are quite dated and stuff didn’t work. The water in the shower went on and off, the towel bar kept falling off, the refrigerator made our drinks get just above room temperature, the makeup mirror light was burned out. While there were a number of bath towels, we had only 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths for a 3 night stay. Apparently, due to COVID, 3 nights is not a sufficient stay to warrant housekeeping, so we had to take our trash out to the bin by the elevators (and no extra trash bags were provided) and quite frankly, with the price of these rooms, I expected someone to make my bed and give me some towels.
We ate one night at Mangroves and had the worst meal I’ve had in along time. The fish tacos were cold (including the fish) and the fish was so overdone that it was barely edible. We ate at the pool bar and the burgers were really good.
This place is extremely overpriced for the condition of the rooms. I would not go back.

The property is beautiful with several restaurants open at different times of the day. Pool side drinks and snacks end at 5 PM. There are 4 pools, a lazy river, and a set of water slides. One small pool is reserved for 17+. The rest are crowded with families, mainly enjoying themselves, mixed with tantrums. Very few people, except the staff, wear masks in the indoor spaces, elevators, or on the boat to the island beach, in case that bothers you. We used hard earned points for a weekend, but were given a room that most people would not want to pay $400+resort fees for (adjoining to a family with small children who woke us before 7 AM each day, next to ice machine, overlooking a large expanse of roof for the parking garage and meeting rooms and shops and a small peek at a little bit of water to the north. The "step out Juliet" balcony is about a foot deep. It was recently renovated, so everything was new and modern. A trip to Big Hickory Beach is a must do, with umbrella shaded lounges and a pavilion with bathrooms. We took a picnic lunch with us. The water was clear and refreshing, with lots of sea birds, fish, and rays. Reservations to the beach are required, with return trips on the hour. The crew is friendly and helpful. There was a wedding while we were there, that took a large chunk of space in the middle of access to the pools and grounds for several daylight hours, and into the evening. Check out is very fast if you use the app World of Hyatt app. On site parking is $18 per day. Valet parking is $27 per day.

One night Staycation. What I was shocked to see, was you don’t need to pay for the hotel. They allow locals to bring their own towels and coolers. Watched about 20 families from my balcony come in this morning. I didn’t know you could do that. Went down to the pool, all of them there. The hotel does not hand out wristbands or something to identify your a hotel guest. It’s not hard to tell who is local. Just look at their towel. But they are not asked to leave.
So I wasted $400. Could have just got dropped off by Uber or pay $16 parking fee and used the pool Area for free like 50% of the people out there.

We had a reservation from Thursday, Aug. 6 to Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Hyatt Coconut Point hotel. We called several times to ask about COVID-19 precautions. We felt confident the hotel would be taking the extra steps to ensure guest safety. We also research and found Hyatt had an A rating in hotel COVID safety.
While driving up to the valet, we were greeted with masked employees (no gloves). They insisted to take our luggage to our room. We self parked to avoid strangers touching our car. The hotel provides an app with touch less room entry and check in.
Throughout the hotel are signs, disinfectant stations and masked employees. We chose not to have our room cleaned by housekeeping everyday. All housekeepers do wear gloves.
Friday morning we left on a fishing excursion. Upon return we were shocked at the incoming hotel guests. It’s as if Miami Dade county checked in. Unmasked guests everywhere, no social distancing. We were very uncomfortable. The pools were packed, every lounge chair was taken. No one was cleaning the pool area.
We discussed our concerns with the manager, he was very nice and apologetic. He allowed us to check out at 5 pm. He stated they could only reserve 65% of the rooms but, the hotel did not have control over the amount of people in each room. We cut our trip short for safety reasons.

The property has pleasant rooms a very decorative lobby and a water slide for little kids and larger slides for older kids. The property has a beach on a private island on the gulf, but you have to take a boat ride to get to it, and you have to reserve seats on the boat in advance. At $400 a night it isn’t a bargain, but that seems to be the going rate for the fancier resorts. I’d rate value as average. Would I go back? Probably.
The property has several restaurants, but we didn’t try them choosing to eat at local seafood places instead.
