Been to Boca Grande several times and at Gasparilla Inn now twice. Enjoy all that Boca Grande offers.

Here at the Inn, come with expectations of crecking floors, bright Florida colors, memorabilia photos on the walls, shell display and wonderful staff members.

Hand sanitizer at every door, masks strongly suggested, chits & tables throughout the Inn socially distanced.

Main desk personnel superb, room maids pleasant, dinning room staff friendly, mgm’t encountered cordial.

Room was clean & bright, windows have blinds & drapes that are hard to open. Bed comfortable and bath accessories: L’Octane. Ample drawers & hangers for cloths. Comfortable lounge chairs. In-room safe!

Dinning room & bar/lounge room staff excellent; very welcoming. Breakfast were great start of the day.

Played golf of their private island/Pete Dye designed course (gentle and good for all handicaps as tees separate everyone’s skills appropriately.

Was told aforehand that the beach club/spa/fitness were unavailable (reconstruction). Renting golf cart was an excellent replacement of the car; town opened up. Eat din at some of the upscale resturants in-town: no negative on the dinning room as just wanted a change.

Boca Grande & Gasparilla Inn are hidden gems. Investigate to go here ....

1) The new pool and fitness center are fabulous. The gym is large with a lot of equipment and the pool is lovely as is the adjoining hot tub. Best of all, it's adults only.

2) The actual and highly touted (by them) beach club is... well, go to the fitness center pool center instead. The Beach Club is overcrowded and filled with screaming children, especially over the weekend and on holiday weekends.

3) Breakfast at the hotel was terrific but our other meals were disappointing. The restaurant at the beach club was bad with steam-table tasting food. The Pink Elephant, with a long wait for tables, was OK, but more cute than good. The recommended restaurant not part of the resort, Temptation in Boca Grande was OK. Call before you get to Gaparilla Island for a reservation since they’re heavily booked. The best dining spot is the Bakery which serves lunch as well as breakfast items. The food was excellent.

4) Unless you really like walking, and in the heat, nothing is closer than a few blocks (and more) away. Get a ride in a golf cart from the hotel

5) Bring $5 bills with you. It costs $100 to reserve a golf cart for the day but a better option is to have the hotel drive you everyplace in their golf carts for free,. It's nice to tip the pleasant young men who truly appreciate a small gratuity.

6) If you plan to go to the Gasparilla Inn bar in the evening, bring a sweater or some kind of outerwear. It was freezing in there.

We go to the inn every year for an overnight stay but usually go mid week which we will do again since v crowded on weekend and too many folks not wearing masks. They have a sign requesting people wear masks but many ignored it.
Inn clean and nice but we were on the second floor and above us was a good bit of noise till late.
The breakfast at the inn was very nice but the highlight was dinner at the pink elephant... great service and food as usual . They don’t take reservations so first come first serve. Wait staff masked and distancing observed.
We rented a golf cart downtown for 100 for 24 hrs and enjoyed going all around the island
We highly recommend the inn and the restaurant and island for a nice get a way .

We booked our room late Wednesday night during the tropical storm to insure everything was up and running including golf course. Arrived Thursday afternoon, checked in and on Friday morning when we went to play golf was told course was closed for two weeks. When I complained, I was told the staff called everyone to let them know but we never got a call. Couple behind me was also complaining and said they also did not get a call. My golf course up north has been hit with numerous North’easters and it is closed one time. Why they closed the course for two weeks tells me they used the storm as an excuse to get the course ready got thanksgiving crowd. BTW: I walked several holes on Friday and there was zero issues with the golf course.

The poor service did not stop there. We had a new Tesla Y and it showed a charging station at the hotel which we also confirmed by phone before coming. The Tesla app allowed me to arrive with 22% battery. Guess what: the two charging stations there do not work on Tesla’s and I had to drive 50 miles off island to Ft Myers to a super station to get charge.

We rented two bikes they looked like they were out of a junk yard for $20 each for 4 hours. Mine had completed rusted and rough handlebars and my wife back tire looked a truck ran over it and was completed wrapped.

We rented a boat for a day. The 20’ Boston whaler was from 1997 and was completely in terrible shape. The steering had 6-8” of play in it making it difficult to steer and the wheel was practically falling off. The bigger issue was the transducer was way off. It measured 5 feet 8” when we hit a sand bar. Later it measured 1 foot 8” when we were swimming in 4.5 of water. Could not rely on it.

Lastly there is no adherence to COVID protocols here. Staff routinely does not wear masks until they see you (sometimes!). Front desk person one day did not even bother to put mask on and coffee lady on Sunday also did not wear. Others wear it around their neck walking around or sometimes around mouth exposing nose. No push either to have guests Where them. 5 guys sitting in hotel discussing fishing when I went to get coffee had no masks. There was a wedding Saturday night with 150-200 people no one person wearing a mask. Can you say super spreader event?

Will not be back....

This was our first visit to this place many people return to again and again. It's beautiful, comfortable, charming. We loved everything about it. The staff was wonderful. Our room on the first floor of the old inn building was huge, immaculate, charming, and comfortable. (The robes, by the way, were amble and white.) Someone opens the door for you to enter every time and at the turn down service they refresh everything in the room. It's really old world elegance and service. The beach club is very nice. The lap pool in the spa building also very good and a good place to hang out as well. The hot tub in the ladies room wasn't even a little hot though. The amenities in the spa area are superb. We rented bikes for our stay, just leaving them unlocked wherever we were, and just leaving them at the Inn at the end of our stay to be fetched by staff. It's a wonderful system. We have drinks and snacks at the bar in the evening and picked up coffee from there in the morning. We got some light breakfast items from the food truck, which is currently replacing the bakery destroyed by Ian. Otherwise, we did not eat in the Inn, but did eat at the Pink Elephant, which they own. (It was okay.) The Inn concierge referred us to a reliable charter captain to take us out tarpon fishing. We had a lovely stay, but were put off by one thing. It's sooooo white. The whole town and everyone at the inn (including us) except the staff. Of course, you've got to have some money to stay here and there is a super-preppy vibe throughout. We did meet some wonderful locals too.

Wow! Fantastic experience! We were visiting for a wedding and had a wonderful time. We rented a 3 bedroom Villa for our family of 6 adults. We stayed in Villa 57. On the corner of 4th and Bradley. The villa had 2 bedrooms that share a hallway full bath and the master has its own private bathroom. When I booked the cottages and beach houses were sold out so the villa was our best option to all be together. The living room/dining and kitchen area is a good size. Our stay was for 4 nights so the washer/dryer was nice to have. The cleaning staff as well as the golf cart service were always timely and helpful. The location is walking distance to the Pink Elephant/the hotel and a little longer walk to beach club, but the golf cart service will pick you up or I would suggest renting one for your stay. The Main dining breakfast was so delightful with a buffet or off the menu options. The Beach Club is beautiful and the staff is incredible. Thank you to all of the staff that took care of us on a busy summer weekend. If I were to book further in advance I would definitely look into the beach houses as well as the cottages. The wedding was of course magical. I will definitely plan to return.

Check in was disappointing. We made a reservation with the clear intent of bringing our small pet (a Yorkie) and were told it would be no problem. However, upon checkin we were informed that pets were not allowed, except for service animals. This initial assertion was reversed once the desk clerk checked. We were informed that a mandatory service charge would be levied for both valets and the housekeeping staff. A fleet of golf carts is used by valets to ferry guests around the property and island, so it seemed reasonable. We were then directed to our cottage, which was a short distance down the road. Back near our car, the valet pointed down the road but offered no carriage nor valet service with our luggage. (Indeed, we did not use the valet service at all during our stay.). Arriving at the cottage, we entered and learned that it was already occupied; never an enjoyable discovery. However, it turns out that our cottage, and possibly all of them, have several separated residences, something the desk clerk did not mention. The balance of our stay was more pleasant, limited somewhat by the unseasonably high temperatures (we are Florida residents) and the fact that our pet was not welcome in most indoor locations on the property.

When you cross the bridge to Boca Grande, you enter a gentler, kinder, more civilized time zone. When you walk up the steps to the magnificent Gasparilla Inn, you feel transported to a time when people cared about each other and were not afraid to say hello to neighbors or hold doors open for strangers. The inn has been refreshed by a well known Palm Beach designer: Celerie Kemble and kudos to her for preserving the old Florida feel with grace and the ultimate comfort in seating, tables, pillows and decor! Every night, Thomas comes around the public areas and lights all the candles. And speaking of public areas, I don't know of any other luxury hotels that have as many. There is the Pelican room where you can relax and play billiards, the library, filled with down filled sofas and beautiful old wicker and books, a fireplace filled with magnificent shells, the main lobby with fabulous seating and complimentary tea time at 3:30, often accompanied by someone playing the baby grand, the bar with is very clubby in feel and welcoming, the card room, and more. Two lovely boutiaues will tempt anyone to shop with their unique and exceptional quality goods. The dining room set with the iconic green water glasses never disappoints. The service is over the top, and the food is superb. Breakfast is possibly the best of any hotel I have stayed at anywhere in the world. Dinner is equally as impressive, but relaxed. The beach club is short walk away (or you can have someone whisk you there in a golf cart) and they have added two more pools (total of 3), an amazing whimsical and super comfy living room to read or socialize in--and always, as in the Inn, multiple backgammon tables. The beach is lovely, filled with shells. We didn't eat at the beach club this visit, but it looked very inviting. Don't forget to bring your croquet whites if you want to play on the lovely croquet course. The golf course looks incredible: Pete Dye design. The rooms are smaller but beautifully appointed, and serviced. L'occitane shampoos and personal products, lovely bottles of water, fresh fluffy towels and robes, and possibly the cleanest room I have seen. The only thing that was not exceptional were the mattresses. Very hard. Beautiful sheets, comfortable chairs, plenty of light. The place is positively magical!! Kudos to the staff and management for keeping the special feeling we have staying there for over 40 years!!

Our room was a king with lanai. The bed is comfortable, decor was cute. Seating very comfortable. Our first night, the air conditioning would not go below 70. I called and was told I could get a fan because it doesn’t do lower. Also got a blanket because a down comforter in 70 degrees is not amenable to people who usually sleep at 64 degrees. Every time the air comes on, it sounds like it’s pouring rain. That part was kinda soothing, actually. I’m a beach person. I wanted so much to sit under and umbrella , toes in sand, drink service. NOT AVAILABLE right now as they are remodeling the Beach Club. NO UMBRELLA service. NO drink service. Also this is not ON the beach. It’s a bit of a walk to the access. There are no discounts for lack of said amenities. Service, on the other hand, has been fabulous. Thomas has brought us ice and water anytime we ask. They don’t have an ice machine available to guests. Good news, they don’t charge extra for water. They do , however add a tip to everything else. Ugh, this one is on me. I should have done more research. AllI wanted a large beach umbrella.

5 days in a 1 bedroom bungalow across the street from Inn. Small, primitive kitchenette with a fridge, keurig, microwave, table & chairs. All we needed! Large bedroom with plenty of storage, bathroom with tub/shower combo and Occitane bath products in abundance. The Inn itself is so beautiful with the wonderful color schemes, billiard room, small bar (yes, it is very cold there - take a sweater) 2 small shops, and main dining room. Don't miss the free high tea in the afternoon for some treats! Little grocery store with anything you'll need for your fridge, beer, wine, or snacks about a block from Inn.
Rented a golf cart from an independent a block away from inn, as none were available from the inn upon arrival. There is really no need to rent a cart because everything is within walking distance from the inn, but we wanted to explore in the afternoons. The Inn will also provide you with free cart rides to anywhere.
Spa, golf course, restaurants, pool (we like the "moon pool" behind the pool restaurant for privacy) were all top shelf. Beach immaculate. Be sure to pay a visit to the Inn's bakery about a block away. Wonderful! Get your coffee at the Inn for free in a.m., and take your cup with you and they will refill it at the bakery.
The only disappointing thing was the concierge. She was very friendly and helpful while we sat and discussed plans with her, but never heard a word back from her. We decided to make all rez ourselves after first 24 hours went by with no word. Never did hear a word.
Pink Elephant, sat at bar and had wonderful dinner and spoke with some locals and barmaid. Temptations also very good. Again, ate at bar and talked to bartender. South Beach Grill was wonderful on beach for sunset and dinner! I believe only restaurant right on beach for dinner.
No nightlife to speak of, and most watersports off island, so very quiet & relaxing.
Can't wait to go back!

During Crona, we were at The Gasparilla Inn twice and their adherence to CDC guidelines was very strict: masks upon entering and sanitizers everywhere. Your option for any and all types of room service (nothing to clean-up, bedding, turndown etc). Bring your masks yes (maybe double-up if that uncertain) but bottom line is we felt very safe at the Gasparilla Inn: rooms, dinning room, hallways, staff !! The Beach Club was under renovation so can’t write about that. Can’t say outside walking around. Went to different local restaurants and won’t say then it was 100% compliance. Read the TripAdv reviews and see photos to further see and be aware.
