We had an enjoyable stay during a winter trip to Newark. It was really cold outside but the room was warm and toasty and the bed was very comfy. Loved the cute dogs and friendly cat Monty. I'd stay here again and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy a homey and historic vibe. The B & B owner was very nice and tried her best to accommodate two vegans.

Our first time here and really looking forward to going back. Our son attends the Univ. of Delaware so we've experienced three of the hotels in the area already. This was like being at a family member's home (even better). Very clean. Smelled like homemade baking all day. The hosts are so down to earth and welcoming and really care that you enjoy your stay, but they leave you to do your thing. You're given the code to the front door so you can come and go at your leisure. We Ubered into town and got right in when we got back. Although it's a historic building - it's very clean, well kept and had everything that we needed and more. We were so cozy and comfy. The homemade banana bread french toast for breakfast was delicious!

My wife and I did an art class led by Don for our anniversary. It was such a great experience, especially if you're a fan of Bob Ross and have always wanted to give his painting technique a try. The class was very self paced and everything you need is supplied when you sign up for the class. We highly recommend giving it a try and making a weekend out of it by staying the night as well.

As lodging for a business trip to Newark DE, the Blue Hen provided all the comfort, charm, value and delicious food necessary to keep us going through our busy weekend - with plenty of modern amenities as well. We also enjoyed peace and quiet, as well as easy access to the University and points of interest in Northern DE, NE Maryland and nearby Pennsylvania. We were amazed to learn of the establishments' rich and long history, as the original portions of the house are celebrating a 325th Birthday!

My wife and I stayed on a Saturday night and we had a roomy, comfortable room and a fantastic breakfast. The couple who manage this bed and breakfast are very friendly and try hard to please their customers. This is a very nice place to stay.
