My friend, my sons and I spent a wonderful couple of nights at Nyamup Village. It wasn't our first visit and although previous visits were great, this one was made even more fantastic by the new caretakers, Holly and Dan. Nothing was too much trouble and Holly was so welcoming and friendly! They are an absolute asset to Nyamup Village!

We're blown away by your review and we want to thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts. As new caretakers here we're still learning and having guests feedback is really important to us - be it great positive stuff as with yours or neutral and we even welcome any negative feedback although we hope if we get any like that it will be thoughtful and constructive! You guys were great guests and the laughter of happy kids is what Nyamup is all about. We're very much looking forward to your return next chance you get! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family Bev and again - a heartfelt thank you!

The best thing about Nyamup is the location. Absolutely beautiful countryside, nestled next to a river in rolling hills of native forest.

The cottages are "independently-owned, unserviced accommodation". There is a manager onsite, who was very friendly, but wasn't really able to do much to address a couple of little issues we had. For example, we planned to self-cater using the advertised full kitchen facilities, so stocked up on groceries that we could cook in the oven - only to find a sign on the oven when we arrived saying it was unsafe to use and that the electrician would try to be there in the morning. As it turned out, the electrician had been called earlier in the week and the manager wasn't sure when he was coming. Fortunately, it turned out that we could use the stove top and grill, so we were able to improvise a new menu. When we left, the remote for the reverse cycle heating unit wouldn't turn it off. Dead battery, I suspect. Not wanting to be wasteful, we turned off the electricity at the fuse box and reported this to the manager when we left. We hope it was fixed for the next users. There were a few other little things, like the bedroom we were allocated (the other was padlocked off) had only a matchstick blind on the window... and faced east, so we were woken by the sun the next morning. The bathroom was technically under the main roof but only accessible by exiting through the back door to the house, which wasn't much fun on a rainy night in the middle of August. The bikes had flat tyres and rusty chains, with no pumps or oil available for us to put things in better working order.

OK, whinge over. There were lots of positives. The fact that there were bicycles was great. We had a lovely ride up to the main road and then down a track, where we saw a herd of kangaroos! The settlement is peaceful and the cottages are a good distance apart, so you can shut yourself away and pretend you're alone in the world if you want to. There's no mobile phone or TV reception, and I found this really helped us to unwind and relax. It was lovely sitting inside in the evening listening to the rain lash it down outside, knowing that you were safe and warm in the cottage. The cottages are (potentially) very beautiful, full of character with lovely wooden features (as you would expect in an old mill town).

Would I go back? Sure, if I got a good deal (as we did for this stay with one of the online coupon sites). I just wouldn't expect everything to be in working order, I would take LOTS of jumpers in winter, I'd take my bike pump and some tools to make the bikes a bit more serviceable for a longer, more pleasant ride and I'd take an extra sheet to put over the matchstick blinds, for a sleep-in in the morning.

All in all, this is the sort of enterprise that I like to support. It has saved an old mill town from being abandoned and allowed others to experience this beautiful, historic area.

We booked two cottages for 15 people , both cottages were warm , welcoming , cosy and clean . Loved the charm of the old timber cottages, open wood fire to keep you nice and warm and the lay out , could walk over to the weir , the bush surrounding , the local emus and kangaroos , was a very relaxing weekend away hope to return there soon and spend some more time down there .

If your idea of a perfect family holiday is to pack away the devices, leave work far away and dive into nature, this is it.
Surrounded by forest, Nyamup is an old mill workers village of simple, comfortable timber cottages. The mill was only decommissioned in 1989, so the cottages are in great condition - especially the floor boards.
We stayed at cottage #3 which was warm and cosy and neat as two pins. The cottage has everything you could need including board games. The beds are comfy (electric blankets so good mid-winter), the water is hot, the caretakers lovely.
Fire wood can be delivered and the open wood fire is supplemented with a reverse cycle heater and portable heater. Handy to have when the temperature drops.
We loved walking out our front door and into the bush. In mid-winter there were Acacia trees all over bursting into bright yellow bloom and tiny wrens hopping around.
The verandah out the front is perfectly located to catch the afternoon winter sun. A lovely spot for a g & t or cuppa tea while listening to the kookaburras.
The big fire pit (fire mound) out the back was perfect for marshmallow toasting as the sun went down. We’ll be back to bbq some local marron on the fire!

We were a little apprehensive about staying here after reading the reviews before we left! But the reviews were completely wrong. Our cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy. It was well equipped with bbq, oven, microwave and essentials like toilet paper, hand wash and even bottled water. There were also games, magazines and dvds. Our grandchildren loved riding their bikes on the quiet streets around the village and seeing the wildlife walking past. With their parents they found treasures ,explored the surrounding forest and roasted marshmallows on an open fire. It is such a beautiful natural setting which is still close enough to surrounding towns like Manjimup and Pemberton that there is lots to do and explore. And mountain biking heaven for the big kids. We loved our long weekend and look forward to visiting again!

The trails around Nyamup are one of the big drawcards here and we're so glad you and yours were able to enjoy them from your mountain bikes. Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review, although we are new caretakers, we're sure Mike and Kim, the caretakers when you visited, would be pleased to know you left really happy. Thanks again! We look forward to seeing you next time.

We spent a few days at Nyamup, 4 couples and 6 kids it was fantastic. Weather was combination fine and raining which was great. Log fires provided comfort and warmth. Kids had a ball, lots to explore and bike riding, emus and kangaroos at the doorstep.. Having worked in Nyamup many years ago it was great to see the cottages we lived in being used for holiday accommodation. The cottages are comfortable, not overly flash but have everything you need for omfort and a great time and fits nicely with the surrounds.. besides for families with kids it's perfect, they can be kids and enjoy.. caretakers are exceptional and extremely accommodating. We will absolutely be back and have a feeling this could be our go to place for continued holidays..

What a fantastic place. We loved it and wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage was clean and cosy with everything necessary. I don’t know why it isn’t busier. Plenty of room to explore and walk and it’s so close to the tall timber forests and the amazing coast.

Fabulous place for a quiet and relaxing break. Beautiful bush surroundings with heaps of history. Our cottage was beautiful, cosy, warm and had everything you needed. A home away from home. Hosts were very helpful and accommodating.
We will definitely be back.

We purchased a scoopon for accomodation at Nyamup Mill Town Holiday village & when tried to make booking there were virtually no days left available, hence we had pay extra to extend the validity period. Next when we went to advise of an additional guest (as per scoopon to be charged at $20 per night) we were told we could not bring our very young daughter as children are not allowed. We had originally hoped not to have bring our daughter, however due to an unfortunatel change of circumstance we were suddenly left with no-one to look after her. This meant we could not use our scoopon, and the next available dates if we wanted to pay a further $75 were not for another 4 months, by which stage the scoopon will have expired again, and we could not reschedule as we have another child due around that time.

I could not believe how un-accommodating and unhelpful the staff at Nyamup were, especially given the circumstances. I understand there are policies in place, however I have dealt with many holiday accommodation places across Australia, and have found them to be extremely helpful and apply a level of flexibility on many occasions - including when we have been using other scoopons. Nyamup have not offered any constructive help and have basically said no to every option my husband and I suggested.

We have now lost our accommodation for this weekend, which has cost us $190 and will be telling everyone we know about our bad experience in dealing with Nyamup. It did not say anything on the scoopon or on the accommodation website about children not being allowed (it merely stated scoopon was for 2 guests), and stated there would be a $20 charge for additional guests.

We didnt even get to stay here and never plan to now after such a bad booking experience.

We went there recently and there was no linen, no towels, no information, not even any basic things like tea bags or fly spray for the mozzies. We were told that to avoid an extra $70 cleaning fee we needed to scrape out the fireplace and clean the whole place including mopping the floors, even though we were only there for a couple of nights. Dreadful. Never again.
