We stayed at the Plume for 3 nights. Our room was far beyond our expectations. It was huge! It was beautifully appointed with modern fittings including a lovely bath and shower area with a power shower. With a super-king size bed and the perfect quiet sleep was easy to come by. We knew we had a good room because whenever...

Have stayed at the Plume of Feathers on 6-7 occasions now, usually for 2 or 3 nights per trip as it is perfectly located for me to see all my customers in North, West and South Cornwall. I usually stay with my girlfriend and our small dog. Initially I stayed in The Hen House, which was great, but on the...

My wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. I chose the Plume as it looked a little more luxurious than other places I looked at and it certainly didn't disapoint. The room we had was fabulous with a massive bed and a lovely big bath and shower. The actual pub has a lovely warm and welcoming feeling with...

Cannot praise enough. Booked on line but then had to make direct contact to confirm it was alright to bring our dog. Immediately new I had made the right choice. The response was both timely, informative and humorous. A great start. Our arrival in the middle of what was clearly a busy afternoon service was dealt with extremely efficiently and...

Although the hotel is situated in a small village, it is very close close to the A30 and therefore a great base for 'getting around' the area. We upgraded to a superior room and it was well worth the money. Set in a new separate building it was a very large, contemporary, triple aspect room with a stunning bathroom. It...

My husband and I stayed here overnight as attending a funeral at the nearby crematorium. We were given a newly refurbished room, room 6, and it truly was a very comfortable and lovely stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had breakfast the following morning and the food was delicious. The staff were all very helpful and...

The Plume of Feathers was recommended as a place to stay for a 2 day business trip in St Austell. It did not disappoint in any way. Beautiful, tastefully decorated, modern huge rooms, enormous comfortable bed, walk in shower plus deep bath tub and ample clothes storage in the form of drawers and hanging. The whole room has been thought...

Stayed here for 1 night. The room was fantastic with a massive bed, freestanding bath and an excellent shower (Room 12). The food in the evening was great value, well cooked and very very nice. Breakfast was cooked to order and a great choice was available. I will definitely stay here again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A 16th Century coaching inn set in the leafy village of Mitchell, The Plume of Feathers is a destination restaurant with AA 4 star rooms. Located just off the A30 we are ideally placed for exploring Newquay, The Eden Project and Truro. Our menu takes inspiration from the great Cornish larder using fresh fish, locally reared meats and small organic suppliers. With its roaring log fires, beamed ceilings and friendly, cosy ambience on one side and a cool, contemporary conservatory space on the other, the Plume of Feathers is the ideal venue for many occasions. Why not take breakfast in the conservatory from 9am? Or pop in for lunch in the beer garden (if the weather allows!) Or how about dinner next to the warm log burner on a cold winter's day? Serving fabulous food all-day everyday of the year, we have a space to suit your every mood. Our seasonal menu and twice daily changing specials use the very best local and organic ingredients. Head chef, Rich Humphries, has long established himself in Cornwall for cooking classic British dishes with a modern influence. Rich and his passionate team love using the freshest fish, traceable/properly reared meats and fine fruit and vegetables - some of which come from Mitchells' own fruit farm. ... more   less
