My husband and I celebrated my birthday there. Must have been an off night. We live in the area so just went for dinner but will wait for better reviews until we return. Steak was to have a peppercorn sauce. Apparently no one mentioned that to the chef! No sauce or peppercorns. Ordered fries because they were ' pommes frites'.... More

We went for drinks and appetizers with a friend for the first time since it changed owners. Love this place and will go back again. The bar is inviting and cozy. Great food and drinks that are moderately priced. Will definitely return here! We went for dinner not to stay at the inn.

Quaint place. Strong smell as you enter the back building/cottage, where my room was. Found a diffuser and wondered what smell they were trying to cover up. The room was good. I found a bug, was the size of a small cockroach, but wasn't (I think). Breakfast was wonderful! I don't know how the gentleman did it all (checking people... More

My wife and I have had miserable luck with past Valentine's Days. There was the dinner-dance that we almost died trying to get to it in a blizzard. Then there was the time our reservation was "misplaced," so tough luck, our bad, so sad, now go away. So it was with cockeyed optimism that we booked a two night "Romance... More

My daughter and son-in-law were married at the Lace Factory which is nearby. We couldn't have made a better choice. This inn is so clean, comfortable and luxurious. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and we had delicious pumpkin flavored French toast. Would definitely go back there.

My wife and I stayed in Room 216 for one night. The room was pretty cool. It did not feel like you were staying in a hotel. It kinda felt like our own bedroom. Only concerns were mold on the shower head and one light was out over the sink. The man at the front desk was very nice and... More

Dinner was fabulous. Our room was lovely. We stayed in rooms 322 & 323 of Comstock House. We had NO complaints what-so-ever. A much-needed night away, 2 couples. Dinner was to die for. Room was cozy yet spacious and well-appointed. The only slight issue we had were the cheap vertical blinds on the door leading to the deck. They let... More

Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Really nice room, big, clean and comfortable. Very nice bar area. We had diner there one night and the food was very good. I wanted a place close to Essex, Ct where I was taking the train/river boat combo the next morning. Ivoryton is just down the road a few miles. Dinner in their formal restaurant was delicious (and not so formal, just less crowded and less noisy than the pub option.) I had lamb shank with a glass of good Bordeaux wine.... More

My wife and I stayed here one night while visiting Essex, CT. We had a lovely room with a king bed and a very large bathroom. Our room also had a small terrace. We got a very good night's sleep. Included with our room was a gourmet breakfast where you could order off a menu. I would stay here again.
