Living in central Connecticut I have dined at "The Gris" periodically over the last many years, usually for a special celebration, sometimes just for lunch, and a couple of times just to imbibe in the Taproom. The atmosphere is warm and charming and a highlight of every visit, particularly if you are nautically inclined. Some meals have been memorable and...

Had lunch outside here on a nice fall afternoon. Really enjoyed eating outside. The historic Inn is pretty dark inside. The food was plentiful. Hand cut french fries were served with their fish and chip dish.

This is a lovely quaint hotel and bar, which is said to be the oldest bar in the States. It's a great place to go for brunch with good food and service. It provides good seafood. It also has a good wine selection. The village itself is beautiful.

The oldest continuously operated B&B in the USA. A MUST to stay at. Total experience, from the original building to period rooms, old fashioned courtesy from the staff, tasty and sensibly priced food & drink. Live music in the bar, Sea Shantys one night and Jazz & Blues the next when we were there. Essex itself is picture book pretty...

My cod was delicious, as was the bread and salad. The green beans and mashed potatoes were just ok; nothing special. The wait staff provided quick and efficient service. Atmosphere was calm, quaint and very clean.

A group of us had dinner here. It is a neat old restaurant. Our server took great care of our table. The menu had a lot of choices. I had the potato cakes for a starter, they were the closest to the ones I had in Germany, they were fantastic. I had the special trout dinner, it was great. Highly...

We really enjoyed the Griswold Inn's new seasonal menu. We started by sharing a pear and arugula salad that was tasty and nicely presented. (They divided it for us before serving it.) The pork chop was tender and flavorful and the vegetables complimented it nicely. The duck breast was moist and delicious on a bed of spaghetti squash with a...

Quant inn with original old wooden floors. Bathroom was very nice and the room, although not real big is clean and nice. No TV in the room, you go to a common area in another building to watch. The people are very nice and try to help in any way they can. The bar, wine room and restaurant area are...

Stayed in the Hayden House for a recent wedding and everything about the Griswold Inn was superb! Rooms were spacious and comfy. Just the right amount of historical ambiance mixed with everything you would need for the modern times. Grounds are beautiful! The town is very friendly. Highly recommend staying here! The wine bar had different entertainment every night and...
