Stayed here a couple of times in the past so well aware of the history and comfort of the rooms. The enemy and I now live just 20-25 mins away, so decided to head to The Tap Room Saturday night for a change. What a terrific evening..no reservations for that part of the

We just spent two nights at the Griswold Inn, Essex CT. We’ve stayed there before, many years ago (30?) in the summer rather than off season. We loved it then and we loved it now. The staff was warm and helpful. We wanted a first floor room and we asked to have two

Greetings from The Gris! We're delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you so much for visiting! We do hope you will try us again as it has been said "The Griswold Inn is an Inn for all seasons and an Inn for all reasons!" :) While every time of year in Essex and The Gris offer a special experience, all gets a bit livelier as the weather warms! Greetings from Essex and The Griswold Inn! We are delighted that you enjoyed the total 'Gris' experience: how fortunate that you happened upon our very spirited Sea Chantey night! As you may know, we offer a varied "musical menu" as our Tap Room features live music every night of the week! We look forward to your return and thank you for visiting! (We remember reading this when it first came in and thought we had responded...Not sure what happened - ! - but we are appreciative nonetheless!)

This was a great place to eat lunch. All ships in frames on ceiling staff was very helpful. Due to my food allergies they checked with the chef. Great selections I had a turkey sandwich.with a salad. The sandwich was huge. Only $12. They also make their own chips.

If there are no TVs in the rooms, do they have decent wifi available?
Greetings from The Griswold Inn! Thankfully the TA community reached out to respond to your question. Our apology for not responding until now! (There is a new backend formatting where questions, etc., appear a bit differently and we didn’t see this.) We do have free wi-fi throughout our “campus” and there is a large screen tv on property in one of our common spaces, seldom used. We have found that not having TVs in guest rooms becomes less and less of an “issue” for people these days: many seem to prefer to stream their favorite shows on tablets or even smart phones. Plus - our original reason for not having them - we want people to enjoy all that is special about The Gris and our Tap Room is certainly part of the experience: we feature live music every night of the week! So much fun!!! :)
