Stay someplace else!!! We booked this online for a quick weekend family getaway. The room smelled like old sweaty ski boots. There wasn't any toilet paper on the roll (and no one at the hotel to get any from (we ended up driving to the grocery store to buy some). There was a dirty washcloth hanging from the pipe that...

I absolutely love The Viking Lodge. It was perfect for what I needed and that was a good rest after three days of outdoor adventures in Winter Park/Fraser and Granby. The location was excellent, the bed was comfortable, and the price was just right. If you've got a busy schedule and are not planning to sit in your hotel your...

When we entered the front office to check in, no one was there. We found a sign with a number to call. No live human there, either. None of the automated choices mentioned check-in, so I just picked one, which still didn't help, so I just pushed more buttons. The person who finally answered said our room was not cleaned...

Dear Becky Thank you for taking to review the Viking Lodge. A few items notwithstanding, your review is spot on. The Viking Lodge is an economical property and we advertise it as such. We are very explicit on our website as well as our advertising on other booking websites such as Booking and Expedia. We do have the lowest ski...

My sister and I traveled to Winter Park for Spring Break this past weekend. We stayed at the Viking Lodge and had a blast! The location of this hotel could not have been any better. It's within walking distance of plenty of fun bars and great places to eat, along with a shuttle that will take you up to the...

We stayed two nights for a ski weekend. We knew this was a two star hotel with small rooms and weren't expecting much - mainly just a clean place to sleep. However, this place was not for us. This hotel has charm and a unique style, but the room was poorly laid out. The queen bed practically took up the...

Great location and clean. That is about it. Where else do they charge top dollar and dont provide soap, towels or the advertised morning coffee! As a guest we made coffee for the hotel but then the coffee ran out and no more to make. When the cocoa machine sprang a leak we cleaned that up but the dirty towels...

This is a perfect location if you're just looking for a clean place to lay you head at night! If you're coming to Winter Park to ski (and who isn't?), and all you need is a functional room with a hot shower and a great location at a very reasonable price then this is the place for you! There aren't...

Worst hotel experience ever. Got there at 3:30 expecting to be able to check in. No one was at the counter at al nor any info on what room we might have. The guy didn't show up til 4:40 (40 mins past check in time). The room is loud and the size of a shoebox. Do not expect a room...

Dear Joyzander - Thanks for taking time to review The Viking Lodge. We are a small family run hotel as you probably guessed and run on considerably slimmer margins than big chain hotels; therefor we try operate with a smaller staff. The employee that was scheduled to work at the front desk on your check-in date called in with the...

This lodge is kind of quirky as far as its layout.. Its in a great location, just off the main road. The price was all below the average in the area, which was great. However, we could literally hear every conversation in the the rooms around us. The walls are paper thin and we did not get much sleep because...

Just stayed at Viking Lodge one night. Right off the bat, it is very clean. A plus in my book. The lodge is in center of town w/it's own parking. Once you get to WP, you do not need to drive. -Another plus. We felt very comfortable and got to come and go. The owners are very friendly. They really...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You get what you pay for… Located in downtown Winter Park, the Viking Lodge and Ski Shop is an icon in Winter Park. Since 1953 we have been providing affordable lodging to guests who just want to ski and have a great time. At The Viking Lodge you get what you pay for. The carpets are old, the walls are thin, and the TV’s are not flat screen. But we won’t break your budget; we offer cheap accommodations in an old ski lodge at a great location in downtown Winter Park. We have 21 rooms; from VERY small to apartments. All rooms have private baths and color televisions; box style televisions, yes they are old TV’s, but you should be outside not sitting in your room watching TV. Pool, gym, ice sculptures, room service, robes, bell boys, 24 hour front desk, spa – this is a list of stuff we don’t have. We do have clean rooms, a great downtown location, hot tub, game room, friendly staff and the best dirt parking lot in Winter Park. We don’t do daily maid service or mints on pillows, but if you ask we will clean your room and find a mint somewhere. If you’d rather be surfing the web than skiing, riding, biking, hiking, reading, chatting with friends or meeting new ones, you’ll be pleased to know that we have Wi-Fi in the lobby. I suppose some have to work anyway. You can make use of our luggage room before check-in and after check-out. Our reception is not open all day (heck we would rather be outside skiing, riding, biking or hiking too) but no fear, we will leave directions for check-in; usually at the Ski Shop or T-shirt shop. If you will be arriving after hours (like 6PM) please call. Coming soon The Viking Lodge is a work in progress; despite all attempts to the contrary we are becoming more impressive on a daily basis. Some rooms even have tile in the bathrooms, new sinks and fancy bedspreads and curtains. ... more   less
