I've stayed at the Alpiner a few times. It does not have all the amenities of the big name lodges in town but it makes up by being right in the heart of downtown, walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants, shopping and the river.

We pulled in to get a room. The outside was shabby, needing a paint job. The office door was locked, until some guy opened it and asked what I wanted. What would one expect I wanted? It looked dirty inside and I walked away. I would recommend you STAY AWAY!

Modern variation themed hotel. Nice , modest rooms with firm pillow top beds, The breakfast was a bit on the sparse side, but not out of style. reasonble location for most of downtown. Price seemed a bit steep, but since it's in a ski town, that;s understandable.

Stayed one night in the Alpiner recently. The room is a decent size and is clean, but it is very dated and tired. The property definitely needs an update, and if you compare it to chain hotels in this price range (around $100 a night), it doesn't compare facilities- or amenities-wise (no flat-screen TV, no pool, no breakfast, no updates,...

We stayed two nights at the Alpiner, The room was large, the bed comfortable, and most of all the room was clean. The lady that manages the Alpiner is a wealth of information on things to do and see. It is in the middle of the main part of town, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The city runs a...

The Alpiner is an old hotel, but very clean and well run. You can not beat the location. It is in the very heart of town. The manager of the place, Loy, acts as your own personal concierge. She gets to know her guests personally, and makes you feel like you're staying at her house. Just what I expected from...

Stayed here for two nights in late feb and had a great stay. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly and gave me good pointers on where to get good mexican food. The Lodge is right down town and a short walk away from most restaurants. Another bonus is that the bus stop is directly across the street and a...

The Alpiner is a very simple motor lodge, basic beds, small bathroom, older decor. However, it is in a great location downtown. We walked everywhere in town and only had to take an easy 10 min bus to the slopes. By far, the best part of this place is Loy, the woman that runs it. Our flights were cancelled due...

Loy, the owner?, is very nice and bends over backwards to make you comfortable. The lodge is in a great location, an easy walk (even in the snow) to many good restaurants and bars. It is only 3 miles from downhill skiing! There is a free bus that stops right in front of the lodge in case you don't want...

“If you bring your own skis with you, you can leave them overnight at the base of the mountain for $5. Much easier than carrying them with you on the bus every time. There is a great ski store next door to the Alpiner. I had a problem with my boots and the boot-fitter spend about 30 minutes fixing my boots so I could ski without pain the rest of the week. All for $20!”
