An outer suburban pub near the junction of Heathcote Road and the Princess Highway, handy to the Royal National Park , Penrith ,Wollongong and Sydney. The recently renovated half dozen units are clean, well-serviced and basic. The friendly young bar staff handle bookings.Eats are available onsite. The pub and bottle shop do not intrude.
Okay if you need to place to stay for the night, but not really a place to go out of your way to visit. Only went to the pub, and really was your typical outer suburbs pub, and came across quite rough as well. Best avoided.
Dropped in for lunch. The food was OK but they do need to learn how to cook chips to go with a nicely cooked steak sandwich. The Pub is old and fairly rundown but if passing I would try it again due to its location.
This was just a stopover on the highway, so I wasn't expecting much. Lots of menu items, I didn't know what to choose, so I ordered a pizza with prawns and chorizo. The only part that had flavour was the cheese. In hindsight I should've ordered a burger. I saw those arrive on other tables and they looked great. I would recommend ordering one of those. At least there were a few minor craft beer selections on tap, and they took credit cards at the bar (but not the bistro?), plenty of tables indoor and outside, and there were enough TVs to watch sport if needed. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back though. There seems to be more decent food options at Engadine.
Good place for dinner and a few beers. Great range of food available at reasonable prices for all price ranges. A far cry from the old Heathcote pub many years ago. A big of a rough joint then. It is certainly cleaned right up good for families.
