We've been coming to this campground since 1999. We always considered this the best campground in the area. However, this visit was very disappointing. The campground is run down, campsites have overgrown shrubbery. The landscape timbers are rotten and the picnic tables are also in...More

My wife and I stayed at 4 KOAs during our last trip this month. KOA is our go-to as they are always reliable when it comes to what to expect. We tented it every night. They have two tent areas that are different in that...More

I took a 4 day road trip from Meeker to Durango and planned on staying in national forest camp sites. On the 3rd day, I felt I needed a few more amenities. I pulled into the Ouray KOA and found a very helpful staff, super...More

Was road tripping through the southern Colorado and found this KOA for last minute tent camping. As a solo female traveler I felt entirely safe camping at this location alone. The two staff members who assisted at check in (evening of July 9th) were so...More

About
Description
Here along the Uncompahgre River, you're at the gateway to the rugged San Juan Mountains and southwest Colorado's majestic alpine scenery. Rent a Jeep at the campground and head for the hills to explore ghost More towns and tour old mines. One of the most spectacular day trips takes you 31 miles along the winding Million Dollar Highway from Ouray to Silverton, both legendary mining towns. Telluride, the town of famous people and the legend of Butch Cassidy, is just up the road. Enjoy the gondola ride to the top as well as the history and resort area there. This KOA's elevation is about 7,250 feet. Take a soak at one of the local natural hot springs or work out the kinks in KOA's hot tub. Enjoy breakfast at the Creekside Cafe before heading out to the trails, and then return for an awesome dinner. Relax at KOA's bar on the creek with live music and David's famous Texas mesquite-style BBQ on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights (seasonal). Max pull thru: 80 feet. Your hosts: David & Deborah Less
