We had a wonderful 5 day stay at the Highlander. Don, Diane and Scott are superb hosts and the campground and facilities are spotless. We really enjoyed meeting friendly neighbors as well as being able to have a campfire every evening at our campsite. The campground is a few miles south of Lake City on the Cinnamon Pass road, but...

Wonderful people, Don and Diane Campbell, opened this campground in 1995. It is on the high ground and fits 2 dozen units or so. The view is great and sites are clean because of the stone. We have stayed here 3 times now and always like the place. The buildings are kept up so well and it is about 3...

The facility is meticulous and the owners are wonderful. The park is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. We are not used to the tight quarters in an RV park so that is a minus for us. In talking to the owner he said that the park was originally designed for rigs our size, 29', and smaller,...

This is fairly small for an RV campground so it was nice and quiet - just a few miles south of town. We were in a small trailer in the upper section which only holds 3 RVs. Nice hosts and spotless bathrooms. Well-equipped camp store. Easy access to tons of hiking and the campground rents jeeps for off-road exploring. We...

We camped at the county campground up on the lake but took our showers and rented a jeep from Highlander RV Campground. The restrooms/showers were the cleanest we have every found in a campground. The jeep rental was great, lots of good information for a first timer and the equipment was first rate. Family owned and run and it represents...

We spent a week here, it is a top notch place to stay. Amazing view and the owners make you feel so welcome! We rented a jeep for 5 days and it was nice not having to drive our one ton pickup on the back roads. We met many nice families that have been coming here for years. Lake City...

It was our first trip to the San Juan Mountains area of Colorado, and we didn't know quite what to expect. Simply beautiful! We rented a Jeep from Don and Diane, and explored many of the local trails. The property itself sits just minutes from downtown Lake City, and is adjacent to some of Colorado's best off-roading country. The common...

The Highlander Campground was a perfect base camp for our vacation. Wonderful spacious campground facility. Rented a jeep for a day and drove the Alpine Loop, visited the Slumgullion Earthflow and the Continental Reservoir. There are a few old time taverns down town Lake City to enjoy some local color. Very relaxing campground atmosphere in the evening, yet during the...

Don, Diane & Scott made us feel so comfortable & welcome. Their campground is really a special place And one of our favorites out of a 2 1/2 month trip we took & stayed all over Colorado & Montana! We rented one of their Jeeps & cruised the Alpine Loop where we were one of the first of the season...
