Anyone who has driven on this "off the beaten path" highway knows one is lucky to find food or shelter other than camping. We happened on Bear Paw Ranch Resort when it was recommended to us by another hotel several miles away that was already booked. As it turns out, we struck gold. Built with love by owner/hosts Tony and...

On our way south on Hiway 37 we stayed at Bear Paw again. A pleasant welcome by Doris and Tony. We arrived for dinner and were seated and immediately served. There were 10 guests in the dinning room. We had a lovely roast pork with fresh veggies and a cucumber /cream salad. Yummy! Desert was a nice bowl of ice...

Built, run and amazingly hosted by Tony and Doris Kurz, the Bear Paw Lodge in Iskut is a sanctuary for relaxation, being with nature, enjoying amazing food and exploring BC's north country. The log lodge invites you to sit on the back deck to enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains and to listen to the wildlife, the dining room...

We came across this wonderful place by chance whilst driving from Dease Lake to Stewart. We chose the ensuite room with a balcony with amazing views of the mountains (.The hosts were very friendly and we were allowed to view the whole property and walk the trails to see the beaver dams. We ordered dinner in advance and it was...

I was working in the North and was accommodated here - simple, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I sat out on their gorgeous deck overlooking the valley, hoping to spot some animals. Great birding in this area. Breakfast was great - the owners were delightful and very helpful. A good spot to enjoy in the north!

This is a fabulous place to spend the night or two or a week. The owners greeted us at the door and welcomed us into their home as if they had known we were coming. We spent 3 nights during a family gathering. Our room on the third floor was simple, clean and comfortable. The views of the mountains and forests are wonderful from the dining room and balcony. Our meals were very good, having a delightful Austrian touch. Tony and Doris helped us enjoy our stay. We would definitely return!

In an area where there is not a lot to choose from, this site is great. We arrived a little early but the Doris was accommodating and we were able to take a nice hike on the property. we then could sit out on the veranda and have a glass of wine and we looked out over the lovely setting....

The Bear Paws was without doubt one of the highlights of our 7500km round trip. What a find. So having travelled from Vancouver to Alaska and experiencing some awful accommodation we decided to skip some towns on the return trip. This meant driving longer distances to find somewhere nice to stay. Bear Paws was a great find, our only regret...
