This was our 1st stop on our 22 day motorcycle trip – our friend’s first though when we pulled up was – “what have I gotten into”. But the minute you walk inside you are amazed. The front desk clerk, Richard, was super friendly and fun to chat with. The rooms are “old west style” but very clean and comfortable....

We really enjoyed our overnight stay in Grandma Hand's room. The evening snacks were perfect for our kids and the breakfast was really impressive. A huge assortment of drinks including organic hot tea, many cereal options, delicious fruits and melons, eggs and sausage and a large variety of breads and bagels. Not at all what we expected. The owners were...

My title describes myself and this little inn. The carpets are a bit thin and the old wooden doors are nicked and scratched but there is a charm about the place. Picture yourself at Grandpa's old cabin in the mountains. It still looks like the 1970's inside but you don't really mind, do you? It is a good value and...

Loved the Hand Hotel B & B. It really felt like you had stepped back into time. Each room had a unique name and décor to match it. All the staff were super friendly and the service was outstanding. Rooms are minimalistic (i.e. no electronics of any kind), but considering that almost everyone has a smart phone or other portable...

We visit the Hand Hotel each year for our anniversary. We are greeted warmly and well taken care of. They allow pets. Their breakfast is amazing. We love the quaint rustic atmosphere and the deck and the best coffee

I keep coming back for the friendly western welcome, the unique rooms, the sweet little town - don't think Fairplay is only along the highway - try the South Park Museum. Try fishing in the river. Try walking around town. You'll soon find neat little spots, and the Hand is the perfect base. The people are wonderful, there to help....

Okay, the place isn't perfect even though I gave it 5 stars - but it was so much better than the run of the mill chain motels one finds in Colorado in so many ways that the benefits out weighed the minor inconveniences. The first thing we were asked when we checked in was "Is there anything we can get...

We enjoyed 4 nights in this excellent if funky hostelry! We met Mike, Pam, Richard (just try to diagram his sentences!) and Twyla. Everyone was friendly, open, and accommodating. Breakfast was generous in both quantity of items and hours. Snacks at happy hour! Mike was even kind enough to call me about an item left behind. Would certainly stay here...

The Hand Hotel is on historic Front Street in Fairplay, next to the Prunes the Burro monument - the starting spot for the annual 29.5 mile Burro Days race held the last weekend in July. The hotel hasn't changed too much in the many years I've known it (my brother and I attended the first Burro Days race in 1948)...
