Every now and then, it is nice to stop at a hotel that is a little different to the cookie-cutter boxes that you see all too often. The Strater is certainly that.....loads of character and history, worth staying just for that. In a town that admittedly does not have much choice, probably one of the best options. Check in was...

This is what the wild west was like, the hotel takes you back in time and makes you dream of old westerns on TV.. the rooms are lovely and the whole hotel is furnished in the style of the West.. They have daily entertainment that is worth watching and there is always something going on . Its in the middle...

The Strater does not care enough for their guests to maintain their website properly or to even check voice mail. We re-routed our recent trip so we could go through Durango and stay at the Strater. After several attempts to make a reservation on-line and being blocked because my "e-mail address and password do not match", I called the hotel...

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our response and being sold out for the night. We are working diligently to respond and assist each guest and potential guest as quickly as possible. I have no excuse on why your phone message took several hours to retrieve, however we are having a high call volume right now...

We had a fantastic stay at the Strator Hotel. It is located downtown Durango within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. They also provided a breakfast in their dining room which was wonderful.

My wife and i had a great one night stay at the Strater. The hotel is nicely renovated and the location is at the heart of downtown. The elevator is slow, so we got extra exercise on the stairs. We look forward to staying here again. Guests should check and see if there is air conditioning for those hot summer...

Stayed at Strater for our anniversary weekend and it was excellent. Not super fancy as might be expected by prices, but the history and room appointments made it worthwhile. Airco/heating are centrally controlled so room temp was not ideal. Staff from front desk to housekeeping are great. Very helpful and informative. We would recommend this hotel and will stay again...

This historic hotel is interesting, clean, the rooms well furnished and reasonably quite. We stayed during a large blue grass festival with groups continuously performing in the lobby. The hotel was very good about enforcing quiet hours. This hotel has continuously exhibited poor training of desk personnel. we booked and gave credit card for two rooms, ours and our guests....

We hadn't stayed at the Strater for years and it seems nothing has changed. The heating and cooling system for our room was non existent all the outdated thermostat would control was a fan which went from low and a medium noise level to high with a noise level which was too loud to sleep. The location of the hotel...

This is definitely a must consider hote when visiting Durango. The location is excellent and though the hotel is really a 4 star hotel in terms of amenities and services (e.g. no room service), the friendly staff, historic decoration and charm allows me to give it a 4 rating. I was on the 4th floor. No ghost or spirit experiences....

We really enjoyed the hotel itself and it's character, however we had some issues that kept me from giving 4/5. First off, elevator broke down twice while we were there... not a huge issue but for people with physical limitations it was problematic. Next we found they don't let each room control their own temperature. At night, even though it...
