Three years ago we visited Durango to take a train ride and stopped at the Strater Hotel to see its layout and decor. As we would be traveling through Durango, we decided to stay at the Strater for one night. Though a small room with a queen size bed, we were comfortable. We were pleased to enjoy the jacuzzi. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the heating system that was too warm and non adjustable. Be aware that the internet is an additional charge.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was small, but typical for a historic hotel. We appreciated the historic furnishings. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Durango. One of the highlights of our stay was listening to the ragtime piano player in the bar. We enjoyed him so much we returned our second night. Don’t miss it!

There’s a few old-timey hotels still out there, and this is one. Walk up to the door and into the lobby and feel like you’re stepping back in time 150 years. The staff is courteous, and the room and beds are comfortable. The food and drink in the saloon are excellent. As is the food in the separate nice restaurant. You don’t need to leave the premises for excellent meals, but if you want, simply step out on to Main Street to find restaurants and stores everywhere. Great spot, will stay here again.

I am giving a ton of credit to Jaime for everything being so wonderful. The hotel is amazing and filled with awesome furniture, decor and stories. I stayed for a full day walking around Durango and eating dinner and before crashing at the Strater. Jamie helped me with dinner reservations, drink spot, he sold me super needed stamps, dude was awesome. This hotel is supposed to be haunted and it did have a a tinge of a creepy vibe but it was super cool. Every room had a ghost journal but sadly I did not see a ghost or even anything even weird.

The Strater Hotel is a gorgeous historic hotel located in the middle of downtown Durango ! It is the perfect place to stay if you like historic places like I do. There is free parking right across the hotel for hotel guests. Since it is in downtown you can just walk anywhere from the hotel which is super convenient. The saloon inside the hotel is the best place to eat and drink for an authentic wild west dinner with live music. The food is delicious too.
