Arrived after dark to a friendly welcome from the hosts. Room was clean and comfortable with fast and easy to use wifi and a well equipped bathroom with powerful shower.

Weather is not so hot at this time of year and its a comfortable temperature for sleeping without the AC running, the fully screened windows open and with the sounds of the rainforest just outside and the surf on the beach in the distance.. The perfect recipe for a great nights sleep.

Woke early for a walk on the beach to ath the sunrise and followed by breakfast on the verandah with the wallabies for company.

I didnt want to leave.!

Owners Robert & Adrienne reply. Thank you so much Jon for this unexpected review. Coming from a Senior Contributor we appreciated your comments very much. Thankyou for a very comprehensive review of Hibiscus Lodge. You were a great guest and our only disappointment was your visit was not long enough. Come for a holiday next time and explore a bit more of Mission Beach. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards Robert & Adrienne

We loved the breakfast and enjoyed the beautiful setting of this B&B. The hospitality was great and the room we had was very comfortable and clean. We liked this B&B best during our 1-month-trip through Australia.

We stopped here for one night on our tour of Australia. It was without a doubt the nicest B&B of our visit. The welcome was extremely friendly and included a glass of wine and nibbles on the patio. The property was luxuriously appointed including a swimming pool. It was very clean throughout and the breakfast was beautiful and copious including home-made muffins. It is also ideally situated for the gorgeous South Mission Beach.

I booked this based on other's reviews so I hope my review will sway others NOT to stay in this place. The room was absolutely tiny and I would rate it not much better than backpacker standard. There were three guestrooms and a supposed guest loungeroom which had a tv and bar fridge in it, sachets of tea/coffee and stale biscuits.

Complete lack of privacy as the owners had their office amongst the guest rooms and they were always hovering around watching you.

I did not want my room attended to so I locked it and took the key, upon arriving back from a few hours out I was horrified to find that they had been in my room and looked thru belongings (i left things a certain way), yes they made the bed but left the wet towels still in the bathroom and no refresh of shampoo/conditioner or soap.

The swimming pool was a cloudy mess, my daughter and I ventured in and ended up at the Doctors with ear infections. The so called "tropical" breakfast was nothing short of disgusting and pitiful. A few boxes of out of date and stale cereal, and two types of bread to make toast, a jug of premixed orange juice and tea/coffee. And it was cleared away very quickly - lucky for us it was so disgusting we couldn't wait for it to be taken away.

Apparently most of the visitors are european, I pray that they don't think that this accomodation is what depicts Australia.

Adrienne and Robert were terrible hosts and did not respect the privacy of guests at all.

I left two days early and of course they still charged me, I just couldn't stand being there one more night. They threatened me with police action if I refused to pay.

Please check other Mission Beach Accommodation - do not stay here and waste your money

After all the excellent reviews we booked for 2 nights (minimum ) over New Years, We are going to leave tomorrow after 1 night. We thought we would enjoy the break and booked 2 nights in their Frangipani room with a double bath and took food as a BBQ was offered on THEIR website. We arrived and was told the BBQ was destroyed in Cyclone Yasi (2011) so we could not have our food cooked onsite. When we took our luggage into the room we found a note asking us not to use the bath due to water restrictions. We live 2 hours down the road and our water restrictions are far harsher and we are aware that Mission Beach has had a hell of a lot more rainfall than Townsville. . We asked if we could have the larger room since the double bath was not available and hostess made us feel like we were asking for the moon. She then started moaning about people using the double bath room and how much hot water it used. SIMPLE ANSWER..... PUT IN A GAS HOT WATER SYSTEM OR BETTER SOLAR PANELS AS WE DID FOR OUR HOME.

After enjoying a bottle of wine on the deck with the never ending bugs and humidity. we decided to go for a swim in the pool. God knows when it had been cleaned last but at least it was a break from the humidity as the aircon in our room didn't seem to want to cool the room. Lying on the bed typing this, it still is not cooling the room after 6hrs on a never ending drone. I don't think there will be much sleep tonight with the noise but better being cool @ 26deg than sweating all night.

We feel let down in our choice of so called B and B.

Honestly, we are sick and tired of the second rate dives in Far North Queensland that try and pass themselves of as quality Establishments. I wish these proprietors broadened their horizons and woke up to the 21st century and delivered what is expected in this day and age. Decent beds, aircons, delivering what was advertised on their websites without mundane excuses.

Still hopeful we will find somewhere in Far North Queensland that will deliver on what it advertises.

Thank you so much Robert and Adrienne for making us feel so welcome during our stay in April 2014. We had a great time visiting all the places near by and even the weather didn't stop us from doing anything. It was great to meet Peanut the Cassowary and having breakfast with the wallabies every morning was great too. The weather was a little damp owing to cyclone Ita coming our way but you made us feel safe and even said we could stay if it did reach Mission Beach, luckily it went around us. You both made us feel as though we were part of the family and we would definitely recommend staying at Hibiscus Lodge, the evening drinks with you on the veranda were great and so was sharing stories of all the travelling both us and you had done. Both the Lodge and garden is a credit to you. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a very relaxing time . Steve and Mandy Beddoe England

Robert & Adrienne owners of Hibiscus Lodge reply. Thankyou Steve and Mandy for such a glowing review. We have been thinking about you two a lot since you left us after the terrible weather you had while staying at Hibiscus Lodge. Cyclone Ita was a bit of a fizzer towards the end. It actually ended up in New Zealand. We do hope you had some weather luck in Port Douglas after leaving here in the rain. You both made the best of your stay in Mission Beach and got out and about around the area which is a good thing. There is always something to see in the rain around Mission Beach. Pleased you both met Peanut the Cassowary. He is still busy chasing Wallaby around the property and getting up to all kinds of mischief.. We were both very happy to have you stay over the Cyclone period. We were so pleased we had such nice people to keep us company as we were not really too sure what was going to happen with Cyclone Ita. You were both the perfect guests to have at the time. Thankyou for choosing Hibiscus Lodge for your stay in Mission Beach and we look forward very much to your next visit sometime in the future. Hopefully better weather next time. xxx Robert & Adrienne

We stayed here in October 2013 for a family gathering at Mission Beach. The place is very comfortable, clean, good value and quiet. Our hosts, Adrienne and Robert were great, they provided a very nice breakfast on the veranda watching the Wallabies and Cassowary. They had good advice for shopping, restaurants and so on - we would stay there again.

We stayed 3 great days at the Hibiscus Lodge B&B and enjoyed every bit of it!
The Lodge is situated in tropical garden setting just a short walk from 14 km of beautiful yellow sandy beach, ideal for long walks and a swim.
Our hosts, Adrienne and Robert outdid themselves to make us feel welcome and at home. We enjoyed the nice talks over drinks in the evening and also the great tropical breakfast. It certainly didn't lessen the experience that wallabies came to visit the gardens during breakfast and afternoons.
If you are looking for a nice place to stay and relax, Hibiscus Lodge is most certainly the place to go.

Owners Robert & Adrienne reply. Thankyou Junget for your fantastic review. We both enjoyed your company very much. We don't get that many guests from Denmark and you will be a hard act to follow. You have both been model guests. Pleased you enjoyed your " Breakfast with the Wallaby Experience". Rob and Sue who are the local wild care people in the area and our neighbours were only too pleased to show you their little fury friends. Pleased you enjoyed your visit with them. Look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future

What a great little, hidden treasure. We were headed on our way from Townsivlle to Atherton/ Carines and stayed overnight here with another couple. Charming hosts, beautifully clean property! We wished we had more time to stay and play. And the price is amazing espcially when you consider the lovely breakfast which is well worth $15 per person! We hope to come back again.

Visiting Mission Beach was an anticipated highlight of our stay in Queensland. The Hibiscus Lodge exceeded our expectations and then some. Strolling the immaculately kept, extensive grounds/garden was truly a peaceful experience with many birds flying through. Enjoying a wild wallaby coming through the yard during our made-to-order hot breakfast was a bonus. Interacting with Robert & Adrienne after arriving over a glass of wine and at breakfast the next morning was priceless. Ask them about the local Thai restaurant--one of the best we have ever experienced. All-in-all a great stay!

Hello Wera, No I am sorry we do not have a kitchen available we are a Bed and Breakfast only. Most Bed and Breakfasts do not have kitchen facilities however there is one B&B in Mission Beach that has a communal kitchen and that is Licuala Lodge. They are a little bit out of town but they also have bicycles. Other that them the only other place would be backpackers. Kind regards Robert & Adrienne Hibiscus Lodge Bed and Breakfast Mission Beach
