firstly make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle before trying to get there. There are 10k of unmade roads up some steep inclines. We were on our honeymoon. the setting is delightful, thermally heating swimming pools, chalets that feel they are within the jungle. Take the nature trails down to the river, well worth it. We were there for 4...

We thought the driver had lost his way for the last 45 min before we arrived at the very elegant Rio Celeste Hideaway Hotel. After driving though ranches, small homes and forest the hotel appeared. The outdoor koi pond, carved mahogany bar and sitting area adjoined the registration. The path to our cabana was beautifully landscaped and exotic birds wandered...

We found this place while browsing Groupon and decided to give it a go, and what a great decision it was. Getting here was a little tricky; we came up from LA Fortuna via 720, and Route 4 and signage is next to zero. We used Google maps, and had to navigate a lot based on the odometer. We had...

This resort is beautiful...the furnishings are amazing, the rooms are very large cabins in the forest with outside showers, or if you prefer, an inside jacuzzi tub. There is a beautiful pool with a couple of hot tubs which we were able to enjoy into the evening. The food is great and the service wonderful. I would highly recommend this...

I am so glad we chose to stay at this lovely hotel which is so close to Rio Celeste. The hike to the waterfall and the waterfall itself is not to be missed -- first time visitors will want a guide for a more educational experience. The drive here isn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be....

The good: -Large rooms -Outdoor shower is amazing The bad: -Hot Tub/ Pool area is nice and relaxing but needs some work. Wood in the hot tubs is rotting and there are some nails that are exposed. - The bellman was helpful but most other staff was a bit standoffish Other: -The hike down to the river is long (20...

The name says it all - "Hideaway" which I thought we'd never make it to. The road leading to the hotel was unpaved and challenging if you're not driving a 4x4 wheel vehicle. Discouraged at times on the way up the mountain but hotel signs every few hundred feet kept us going. I have to say, this was my favorite...

Getting there is not exactly easy, but it's totally worth it! It's a long drive from San Jose. At some point after Liberia, in the vicinity of Bijagua, you'll start driving through dirt and rocky roads. Preferably, drive a 4x4, a smaller car will make it but it will suffer - and you as well. We got there, were greeted...
