Nestled around the Laguna paperbark trees and giant scribbly gums, Sanctuary by Sirromet lets you escape the everyday and connect with nature. Each tented pavilion includes a private ensuite and balcony which appears to “float” above the landscape, giving guests a “tree house” impression as they gaze across the tree canopy and over the lake. Conveniently located on the grounds of Sirromet Winery, indulge your senses and dine on fresh, seasonal produce from one of the three restaurants or uncover the world of wine whilst you go behind the scenes of a working winery, followed by a tasting of Sirromet’s award-winning Granite Belt wines. The 560 acre property captures amazing views across Moreton Bay and sits in the heart of South East Queensland and is home to a large population of wallabies who graze freely around and under the decks as guests take in the views with a glass of wine as the sun goes down.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Never book through Booking.com. They are impossible to contact by email or by phone. I tried everything to change my booking. I booked Friday which cost us $549 so that we could go to the Jackson Browne concert. When I found out he wasn't going to be on until 8pm I decided to change the booking to the following night. I was told by the staff at Sirromet to cancel as they couldn't do anything until we cancelled the booking. So Booking.com didn't give us a refund and Sirromet charged us $649 to stay Saturday costing us over 1,000. Way too much. No one cared.

We stayed here 3 nights and had activities booked each day prior to arriving into the country. After having stayed here it would’ve been nice to just hang out on the property for a day and certainly at the beginning and end of each day to see the exotic wildlife. We were awaken each morning at 4:45am with lorikeets squawking and eating right outside our room. I am by no means a morning person at all but it was very cool to wake up to the sounds of birds and the photos I got were quite good. I would recommend staying on the property till about 8 AM each day and be back to your room by about 3:30pm so that you can see the wallabies and birdlife, which are most abundant at sunset and dawn. The room is not large and it’s pretty basic but comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was big enough. There’s also a refrigerator and a microwave. There’s no breakfast in a restaurant however, they bring you a hamper at 6:30 am which is the Australian term for picnic basket, which had a plentiful amount of breakfast food and juices. There is a nice deck outside your room to sit and eat and watch the sunrise, sunset, wallabies, and birdlife. For dinner we went to the restaurant. You have to drive because the rooms are about a half a mile or more from winery and restaurant and there is no lighting to walk. Dinner was good but the menu is somewhat limited. The beef dishes we had were overcooked which surprised us after telling the waitress twice what we wanted. The salad was good and the pasta dish was good. All the staff we met from check in to restaurant staff were nice and pleasant.

Room Tip: Tents allow no privacy for noise; wildlife very early in the morning.

We loved our stay so much! It was perfectly suited for a kid-free couples night away. The surroundings were so tranquil and we loved hearing the bird noises. It was a very comfortable stay. The only issue we had was realising our dinner plans at the Tuscany restaurant had the exact same menu we had just had there at lunch, so went out for takeaway instead. It would have been so convenient having dinner onsite instead. We will definetly recommend and return!

Amazing stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our Pavilion was spotless and cosy with the necessary equipment. Breakfast was included and the selection was spot on. The F&B team Wow!! Robert, Rhys and Mateo went above and beyond. The front office team gave us a little tour of the function and events space. And Bojan. You my friend made our afternoon during the wine tasting. Thank you team!

Stayed in a pavilion (glamping) as a night away without the kids. The bed was lovely and comfy and the pavilion was well fitted out with mod cons like Nespresso machine, air conditioning, etc. Unfortunately I can’t give it a good rating for the following reasons: 1. Our once a year opportunity to sleep in without kids was obliterated by heavy machinery and workmen going up and back on the road (inside Sirromet) behind our tent at 6am. Horrendous way to wake up and poor planning on Sirromet’s part. 2. The breakfast “hamper” is like a kindergarten lunch with standard Woolworths grocery items. Expired mini yoghurts, soggy cold muffins, pine lime poppers and a mushy watermelon salad… shocking. It also arrived well after the specified delivery time. It would be easy to put a little “gourmet” spin on a breakfast hamper to make the place feel a little more lux but they clearly don’t make the effort. 3. Check in was awkward at best. 2 days prior I received a call saying early check in would be likely due to an event that day, so was directed to call on the day of booking to confirm timing. On the day, upon calling, the lady at the desk had no idea and could only offer to call when the room was available. We live an hour away so the whole process was useless - by the time we were notified and arrived it was almost standard check in time anyway. The lady at checkout had no interest in customer service, eye contact or conversation. Terrible. We spent over $500 for a single night expecting a luxury special experience and it couldn’t have been more opposite. Deeply disappointed and wouldn’t recommend.

Responded 20 Oct 2023
Hi Rochelle, thank you for taking the time to give us detailed feedback, especially given how you were made to feel. I have reached out privately to discuss this further with you to ensure more information will assist our team going forward. As the new Accommodation Manager for the Sanctuary, it is these kinds of comments that help us shape our venue. I really hope you get in touch, but again - I'm very sorry that you had a disappointing experience and we will endeavour to ensure that does not happen again.

We love our experience at Sirromet. This is our second visit, we are making this our yearly celebration getaway. Celebrating our milestones for the year and our appreciation for each other and where we live here in Brisbane. It’s less than an hour drive from our home, so getting there is no effort or planning. The Sirromet Pavilion is perfectly set amongst the bush land with Wallabies and wildlife. A stroll along and up the driveway leads up to the restaurant and winery…no driving, no hassles, just wildlife and tranquility. We eat, we drink and we walk back to our beautiful accommodation. No television, just us and relaxation. The ambience of the pavilion is superb, the bedding and comfort is wonderful. We wake up to the birds and the wallabies rustling through the bush land and a breakfast hamper waiting for us on our verandah. It’s a beautiful place to stay and unwind.

The Burning of the Vines was a wonderful experience. All Matched by a fabulous dinner and a great stay in one of the secluded cabins which snuggle into the landscape so well. Staff are so friendly, attentive and professional. And the Sirromet wines are spectacular.

The ambience of the Sirromet pavilions is awesome. They are comfortable and quietly isolated. The breakfast delivered to the pavilion is ample and delicious. The retaurant is welcoming and the wine and food is of a very high standard along with the service.
