Detailed Reviews
We arrived to an easy check in process. We had arranged a free car park before arriving and had no issues with it throughout our stay. We were lucky enough to have city views as well as looking out over the Yarra River. Well equipped kitchen and the apartment was clean and tidy with minimal clutter as decoration. Both rooms had a built in cupboards and we had 2 bathrooms. The location is only 10-15 minutes from the city. The pool was well received by our 2 children. Location of the power points in the bathroom was a bit weird in the actual cupboard but got used to it. Highly recommend using different tea towels, these unfortunately didn't do much drying! Was nice to have an apartment that was actually stocked with dishwasher tablets, dishwashing detergent and extra bin bags. Not many places do this for you these days. Only thing that was a little disappointing was the air-conditioning. Its located in the lounge room and the air does not flow into the bedrooms so they were pretty warm! Perhaps some ceiling fans in the bedrooms. But, overall and really good property. Will remember the Playhouse apartments for our next trip to Melbourne.

Stayed for 2 nights with daughter - upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment on the 10th floor which was excellent. Everything is new, works well, had great views and accommodation is spacious. Pool is worth a visit after a long drive and the gym (I didn't have time to use it) looked pretty well equipped as well. Secure parking underground is free and is a great plus for those with cars. Well located close to the city, supermarkets, and a string of restaurants on Victoria Street. Hard to fault.

I booked a room for two people, although the process only allows one name to be entered on the booking. I wasn't able to return from overseas on time for the booking, so I let the hotel know that the second person will be checking in. The hotel refused to allow the second person to check in and stated I needed to be there.
If you are considering booking at this hotel, ensure the person named on the booking is the only person allowed to check in, otherwise you will lose your money without a refund.

My room was directly opposite a construction site that started work at 7am. I closed all the blinds as soon as I arrived. The workers were working on the balconies directly opposite my living room and could see directly in. Noise from construction woke me at 7am, even with all the windows closed. I realise local construction is unavoidable but I think it would have been good to put guests in rooms away from the site if possible. The property didn’t appear to be busy. Coffee machine didn’t work. No kettle. 🤷♀️ Disappointing.

There is no reception.
Despite 3 elevators, one is always breaking down. An occupier delights in slamming the door again and again.
The building manager doesn't respond to requests The best part of the Playhouse is leaving.
I own my unit and regret it

The receptionist on our arrival was great, went out her way to ensure that we get access to our rooms quickly. Carpark was booked as part of our package, however it took awhile trying to source one that was available. Then it went downhill from there.
Our apartment had a broken kitchen sink faucet and small holes in the wall. Other apartments had broken (cracked window) in the sliding doors and we were told that someone was to fix theses. On checking out, the maintenance was still not completed. We had children in theses so called family friendly apartments. Photos were taken and shown to the receptionist. In total our family booked x8 apartments for up to 7 days.
Strata Management have a lot to answer for, especially in regards to the rude manner/approach by their male employee, that we faced up until we checked out.
He approached our family with incorrect information, stating that we could not park in the allocated area which was approved by the receptionist, told us that how can residents access the pool while we were using it, told us we could not use the pool for aqua aerobics, however when explained that receptionist gave us permission he continued to tell our adult family member off.
Formal verbal complaints were logged by various family members at reception in reference to Strata Management male employee's behavior, however this did not stop him from what seemed to be targeting our group. The receptionist (manager) stated that she will talk with the employee and also contact his manager and that his behavior was not warranted, should not be treating people with disrespect. The employee argued with a family member when she tried talking with him about his approach and his response was 'that your perspective', what has happened to customer service?
We also booked the BBQ area and the next morning photos were taken by the grounds staff and again the male employee was present, however no-one came to talk with us about what their concerns were. We have NOT ever experienced this type of behavior from an actual staff, who should be looking out for the best interest of the customer.
What I would like to see, is your website updated with it is not a family friendly accommodation, to avoid other families that are wanting to build good memories instead of what seemed to be a targeting venture for Strata Management male employee. Note theses are residential apartments not suitable for family groups.

Could not help but feel very disappointed when we arrived at the Playhouse apartments in Abbotsford. The website makes this place look amazing, but its not. Trying to find the place was hard as there was no signage. Our apartment was a 2 bedroom "Delux" with views of the Yarrar river. There was nothing delux about our room whatsoever & our view from our balcony was roof tops of buildings & an industrial dump site. It was horrible. Getting from the car park to our rooms was a difficult task with dingy concrete corridors, steps & doors to get through. The lady at reception was lovely & very helpful & the bathrooms were nice. We travelled with teenage kids & wouldn't stay here again. Better value for money staying in Hotels in the city. And just a tip, all that cheap cabinetry from Ikea WILL NOT LAST!
