My husband and I stayed here on the fourth night of our trip from Brisbane to Croydon. I had phoned to book the room 2 weeks prior but on our arrival I found that the booking had not been made. The receptionist called the boss to try and arrange a room for us.
The room was comfortable and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided but with only 2 teabags.
The price of our room shocked us at $165 ,for two. This was almost double what we had paid for a spectacular room in Capella only 2 nights earlier.
We had decided to treat ourselves to a restaurant meal that evening and wre very disappointed with that. The vegetable option was frozen mixed vegie dice, corn peas, carrots and one very small piece each of cauliflower and broccoli. No potato. The crumbed chicken was a mass produced frozen variety and well cooked bit bland. My husbands crumbed steak and sauce looked more appetising though. Not worth the price of over $30 per meal. Workers travelling and staying on expense budgets might not quibble at the price.
Overall the evening was a disappointment. A homecooked meal from our own freezer in the car heated in the microwave would have been far superior.

I called up the night before on my way back from Karumba & managed to secure a small room in the Latara with a shared bathroom for $80. I had the bathroom to myself as there was no one else in the block I was assigned and they put me right next door to it. The room was small but comfortable for a basic 1 night stay and I was able to park my car close by. The hosts Cathy & Mark were lovely - both were very friendly & easy to chat to. I had dinner in the restaurant which was full & ordered the vegetarian lasagne with chips & salad. The chips were amazing but I have a feeling the lasagne was from a box rather than homemade because it was a bit flat & tasteless but I am happy to be wrong. The grounds were well kept and had plenty of grass, trees & flowers to make you feel at home. I enjoyed sitting outside my room with a beer watching the gorgeous Savannah sunset and spotting birds and kangaroos in the distance. I also had a special guest from next door - Betsy the cow from the adjacent cattle property came for a visit, stood under the pretty tree with yellow flowers next to my room & ate grass for half an hour. I was told by the hosts she was being naughty & not allowed to be there but I thought she was gorgeous and loved the company. All in all, this was a great little place to stay for a night.

Good basic accommodation that is clean and comfortable. All rooms are air conditioned with tea and coffee making facilities. Set in a natural bush land setting it is quiet. Bar and restaurant on site. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This was the second time we stayed at this motel and the first stay approximately 4 years ago was pleasant with good meals and clean rooms. This time we were surprised at the price of the room. The room charge was $155 plus an extra $10 for as they stated on the invoice " extra persons" bringing the total room charge to $165 for my wife and myself. We thought this was outrageous considering the quality of the rooms and the furnishings but this is the only motel in Georgetown. So much for country hospitality. The meals were okay ,but certainly not as good as our previous sta.y

My husband and I were booked into a unit at a campsite, which we found to be unacceptable, so contacted the Latara Motel to see if they had an available room. They did, at an extortionate price of $160 per night for a very small room which had seen better times. The motel's restaurant was closed, there was no internet, and there were really no other amenities. Georgetown is a tiny place, which offers nothing. To be charging $160 per night is disgraceful, especially when we had stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, luxury apartment in a beautiful complex at Trinity Beach for just over $100 per night. There are some places in Australia that need to rethink things, and Latara Motel is one of them! The only good thing was that the people running the place were quite friendly and the location was pleasant, just on the edge of town.

We stopped for one night on the journey from Karumba to Cobbald Gorge. What a surprise it was. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped but the hospitality was amazing. The restaurant was closed fir the evening, but a BBQ was put on with an array of meats, salads and apple crumble for dessert. A free "easter" drink from the bar was a lively touch. Then an Easter egg on check out. Well done!

Travelling from Dimbulah to Mount Isa, we arrived in Georgetown early in the morning and realised the Roadhouse didn’t open until 8am. No where else in town to get breakfast. I called Latara to ask if they do breakfast and the lovely lady said come down and she would cook us breakfast.
Arrived there, breakfast was nice and coffee was great. Such amazing service.

Last minute booking due to our road home being flooded, was greeted at reception by a great friendly man who gave us heaps of information. The room was motel style bar fridge, small shower and toilet and comfortable beds. The air con was cold and linen etc very clean. The restaurant was a huge surprise reminded me of the old style English pubs and they served a selection of different meals. We all had the lamb shanks and must say were the best we had all had. Great place to stay.

on our way to karumba we stopped overnight at Latara. Fantastic choice, very clean, comfy bed, kettle, microwave and toaster if you need. Free Fresh milk for your cuppa. Kathy at reception was very welcoming and friendly. Went for dinner at the restaurant. OMG, the best steaks we've ever had. They feed ya big out here. Choice of medium or large no small or priced in weight. Absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly. The stars at night are amazing. Breaky to your room, awesome. Would definitely recommend a stay.

This was a very comfortable but basic motel. The remote location is great for exploring the area. The motel is close to some excellent wildlife areas. The rooms had everything we needed, were well appointed and more than adequate. We would stay here again.
