Detailed Reviews
We have stayed here so many times and spent thousands of dollars at this hotel. It is fine for what you pay for but you think they would offer a free breakfast at least for the amount people pay to stay here. I know we have spent alot of money and to not get a free breakfast every morning is ridiculous. We stay for a week once a fortnight and you should be offering people who stay all the time a free breakfast included in the price. Cleanliness of the room is ok but sometimes the bed isn't even made properly there has been number of occasions where the sheets are just pulled up and the bed hasn't even been changed for over a week. When the room has been made you can't even smell any cleaning products being used at all it smells like nothing at all

My wife, adult son and I stayed at the Flag Motor Lodge for one night (and most of the next day) near the end of November. We had been staying north of Perth and, due to a change in our flight, had to be out of our previous accommodation one day early. We paid for a second night because our flight wasn’t leaving until 11:30pm and we wanted the room for one night and the full following day.
We booked via Expedia paying $CAD146 (approx AUD$131) per night, including taxes, etc., just over two months in advance for a “Self contained room” (which was described as 1 queen, 1 twin and 1 sofa bed, but was actually 1 queen and 2 twin beds).
Check-in was relatively quick, although they needed a form filled out and signed, which you don’t see a lot of anymore these days. The room was average size. The kitchenette was basic (2 burner stove, microwave, bar fridge). Overall, the furnishings and décor were somewhat worn. The window in the bathroom was missing a small pane of glass (maybe 2” x 8”) near the top of the frame. This window opened to the front of the building (where people pass by on the way to their rooms). People also tended to use this as a common area to congregate, chat, drink, etc. As a result, and with walls that seemed thin, it was very noisy in our room with considerable chatter coming from outside. This went on quite late, but we didn’t have an early morning the next day, so it wasn’t a problem.
The congregation of people, drinking, smoking, etc. as well as some people just sitting out on chairs in this area gave the entire property (other than the pool area) a bit of a hardscrabble feel (and not in a good way).
An annoying feature of the room was that there were no electrical sockets on three of the walls of the room. The only wall with sockets was the wall at the foot of the three beds. As a result, people couldn’t charge their devices and have them in bed. In addition, there were only three sockets, one of which had the TV plugged into it. Also, the wifi was slow (The one test in the evening I did showed 2.1Mbps). I appreciate this is not a new property, but they haven’t done much to keep up with the technology needs of their guests (and standard hospitality practices).
The pool area is quite nice. We spent part of our first afternoon there and much of our second day (waiting until we had to leave for the airport). My only suggestion would be to add more lounge chairs. The hotel has about 100 units, but there were only two lounge chairs around the entire pool (so our party of 3 took turns alternating among those two, plus a regular chair).
The hotel has an airport shuttle, but it must be booked in advance and only appears to run on the hour. This wasn’t a giant problem, but seemed a little inflexible.
Overall, the “motor lodge” was fine, but nothing special. I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here again, but I wouldn’t make a point of avoiding it either. At best it was average, thus the 3 out of 5 rating.

The room I stayed in was upstairs. No worries as only had an overnight bag to take up to room. The room was clean and comfortable. TV screen could have been bigger. You couldn't fault the room. Another space to move around. There was even a full length mirror which I saw me for the first time as at home I only ever see the top half so that was different & a surprise to see you.
Two chairs were available to sit on near the long desk which was good because you don't always want to sit on a bed.
In the bathroom the shower head was huge and the water was hot. Bathroom clean

Booked a hotel room
With confirmation and was called back and told it was “impossible” would honestly not want to stay with you again especially if Marie continues to work there. The most despicable lady I have spoken too in my life. Nothing but rude. I was honestly shocked with her personality. Vulgar to my partner and when I stepped in started yelling at me. Asked her to stop yelling she told me to leave and hung up tried calling back 4 times to sort my reservation out but was instantly hung up on and the one time I got through I asked to speak to someone other than Marie as she’s rude and marie hung up instantly. I didnt expect to be treated like this and I’m a returning customer I dred to see your new customer treatment. I want to say that I will never be back. I have family who work at your place of business as a cleaner I and I won’t trust them again after seeing what is your company’s morals and codes. I’m absolutely disgusted and I doubt you will try to resolve the issue judging by your staff attitude but I will continue to spread this bad review everywhere I can until it’s addressed properly. I have a confirmation of a room with a balcony and you are refusing to honour it saying you’re fully booked now. It isn’t my fault you have double booked my room and I’m not surprised judging by your absolute lack of professionalism. Saying you can’t do it is simply unacceptable. I have based plans around my stay that I have a confirmation for to prove it is a legitimate and genuine booking, how dare you treat me like I have no need to be there. In summary I would rather sleep on the streets than have your absolutely disgusting staff anywhere near me. And I’m talking exclusively and directly to Maria. Worst costumer experience ever.

Flag Motor Lodge never disappoints. Have been visiting since I was a child from christmas’s to birthdays or even a holiday away from home. The experience always gets better. The hotel and experience is very family friendly from the huge pool with lots of seating and grass space to the wooden animals you will spot around the complex and to top it off the very welcoming and friendly staff. Room space is very big and worth the money and the strong water pressure is a bonus. Thank you once again for the amazing stay !!

I purchased a voucher to stay here.
The first unit someone had smoked and the cleaners had clearly attempted to mask the smell with some deodorant that stunk just as bad.
The room they moved us to was dirty including urine on the toilet seat and pubes in the shower.
The voucher included continental breakfast for two, but there was clearly a deliberate delay on serving us, followed by telling us we could have toast but we would have to wait.
Your business is poorly maintained from door frames falling apart, to pubic hairs in the shower to left over eurine from previous guests, you have enough material to make a show for Gordon Ramsey.
I appreciate you donated this voucher and one of your staff volunteer for the charity.
But we purchased this voucher and were mortified with the poor attitude and disgusting hygiene of the motel.

Response from Chad P, Manager at Flag Motor Lodge
Responded 9 Mar 2020
I would like to start by apologising that your stay with us was so unpleasant and on a couple of your points I am not going to try and defend. The first room which you were put in was not picked up by our cleaners that it had the odour of someone having smoked in the room. (All of our rooms are designated as "NO smoking"). I can tell you that we are not in the practice of masking any odours in our rooms. With regards to the kitchen staff not being aware that you had a free breakfast included was a clerical error and I sincerely do apologise for that. To suggest that it was "clearly a deliberate delay" to serve you is clearly not the case. The problems which you state that you experienced in the second room that my staff moved you to is disappointing to hear but if you had alerted the staff to this, I'm certain that they would have acted on it immediately. We take a great deal of pride in our motel which we have operated for 30 years and I must say that the overwhelming reviews which are posted for our business are positive ones. Snide remarks are not helpful to anyone. Tony Mastroianni - Manager

We stayed for 3 nights and because there are 5 of us, we got two rooms with connecting doors.
Initially we were allocated rooms upstairs but we requested a switch to rooms downstairs because of our luggage. The staff are helpful and very accommodating - giving us two rooms on the ground floor.
If you are a light sleeper, rooms on level 2 may be better. From our rooms, we can hear cars and people going and in out but I guess it is part of a motor lodge experience. You can also hear your neighbours when they speak too loudly.
The rooms itself are comfortable but the sheets are not very clean for beds closest to the door. There is also a spider in our room eek.
Bathroom is ok but the drainage is too small which makes the water pool around our feet.
Wifi is very slow that you may be better off just using your network internet.
There is a restaurant onsite that provides room service.

I travelled from Albany to spend 2 nights at Fiona Stanley Hospital
I booked a room with my regular flag motor lodge before I flew out the next day back to Albany
As I was let out early from hospital I preceded to the flag a couple hours early at lunchtime
I was told my room was ready to go but cause I’m early I will have to pay an extra 30$ or as I was told by the staff I could wait in the lobby for 2 hours even tho the room was ready
So I paid the extra money and said I will forfeit having dinner there
The overall cost of the room was 204$
Absolute disgrace for a 1 star hotel
The room had 2 towels only no face cloths no hand towels the shower head was that clogged up it it was a fine mist
There were trays left outside the room next to me and it’s contents were scattered everywhere that stayed like that from the time I arrived until i complained 5 hours later
The room stunk and still had 1970s blankets on the bed
They’ve given up on the regular patrons to overcharge on everything and ruin what made people like me always pick this hotel
It’s overpriced and the quality service is now gone
For an extra 30 dollars they lost out of me ordering dinner and breakfast
Don’t stay at this hotel there’s plenty more nearby that care a lot more about their patrons

Clean and comfortable accommodation near the airport. Short walking distance to Ampol petrol station which food can be purchased 24/7. This was very helpful as we checked in after 9pm where the motel’s restaurant had closed due to late flight arrival. Comfortable for 1 night stay. Unit allocated was at the ground floor next to car park. Subject to noise when other guests checked in late or middle of the night.
