We've frequented Vail Lake a few times with friends. The sites are dirt or an occasional gravel pad. There are lots of trees which can be good and bad. The Oaks is the most popular section. Most recently, in several areas of the resort, there is no power for full hookups. It doesn't really bother us since we can run...

The roads within the park are in need of desperate repair. Just getting to our camp site was a little like off roading. The only respectable area to stay was Chardanay Mesa. The others were run down and really looked like no one had stayed there for decades. Weeds growing where the Rv's park. Unkept landscape and just an overall...

Dear artmonkredskin, thank you for taking the time to write a review of your visit to Vail Lake Resort. We are sorry to hear your disappointment and hope to be able to shed some light with our detailed response. In 2014, Rancho California Water District (RCWD) bought Vail Lake Resort. She helped us out a bunch and was very nice, made the trip out that much better for our ride. The trails were very fun and well maintained. Every time we go, everybody is very nice. This is my favorite place in Southern California to ride. Mountain biking here is the best

We had a great site, 175, in The Oaks. It backed up to the perfectly dusty hill for the kids to climb and slide down from. Not completely covered with trees so my husband was still able to get satellite TV. My sister's site was not so grand. There was a huge oak tree in the middle of the site...

Last week I took the plunge and bought a 19' travel trailer so that I could go out to the Ca dessert for dirt biking. This is a whole new world to me and it was awesome to experience Vail Lake RV resort for my first experience. The place was welcoming and friendly. The resort was huge with a variety...

Vail Lake has had a lot of changes over the last year since my last review. It so nice to see the money being spent by visitors is going back into improvements at Vail Lake. In the last year I've seen new wood fencing going up, new fire rings, new picnic tables in most of the campsites, new trees being...

Sorry for the average rating. A few years ago I would have given it a 5. Vail Lake Resort use to be the bomb. It was a great place to visit. Ever since California Parks Company purchased the resort a few years back, it turned into, "Just a camp ground" What happen to the stables, the water slides, the kids...

I am not much of a camper, my sweetheart had a 5th wheel and parked it at Vail Lake for his children and grandchildren to enjoy. We went up to pick it up and spend 1 Saturday night. I was impressed by the service at the entrance right away! The grounds are clean and each spot had beautiful mature trees...

This place is great for the special holiday weekends, albeit it has changed a tremendous amount since the water district purchased the property and thus are not in the RV park business too. The activities have changed a lot for Halloween for example and not necessarily for the better. Too many people (and underage kids) driving side by side RZRs...

Victor, thanks for joining us at Vail this Halloween and thanks for the feedback. In terms of policies for guests re-booking spaces for future years, we made no changes to the system this year. Our staff members that have worked here for several years prior to the ownership change confirmed that this year's re-booking policy and procedure was the same...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Vail Lake RV Resort features 467 full hook up RV sites with 30 and 50 AMP power. The property is adjacent to Vail Lake with great Largemouth Bass fishing and boating. Vail Lake has miles of challenging and scenic mountain bike trails (best suited for intermediate and advanced riders)along with miniature golf course, horseshoe pits, bocce ball and more. The majority of our RV camping sites are located among a large grove of mature oak trees offering shaded areas for relaxing. We are minutes away from the wineries and amenities of the Temecula Valley but the setting is rustic and natural with views of the surrounding mountain region. Currently we do not offer tent camping at Vail Lake but we may be offering some tent sites in the near future. ... more   less
