First, due to Covid, Cedar Glen has contact-less checkin. All fees are paid online before arriving and we were emailed the combination to the lock box to pick up our key with instructions. Each room has its own assigned parking spot, right next to the room itself. We booked one of the 2-bed cabins and it was a fairly good size with a pop out space for a dining table and chairs and another pop out space for a fairly large walk in closet / storage area next to the bathroom. All spaces were clean, well kept and nicely decorated. The grounds are also well kept with a fairly good sized pool and picnic area. The hotel is across the street from the lake. Restaurants are within a 5-10 minute drive and a few are within a 5-8 minute walk. We called the front desk a few times with random questions and the person who answered the phone was very nice and friendly.

We decided at the last minute to travel to Tahoe for 3 nights, after a 4 night stay at Lake Alpine. I called late in the evening to inquire as to which room would be best suited for our family of 3. I spoke with Martha and she advised as to the differences between the cabins and the lodge rooms----basically there is a separate patio table for each lodge room. The cabins have a small alcove. I booked 3 nights in a Lake View Lodge room. Martha stated the "Lake View" is a peek of Tahoe, above the tree line, so I wasn't disappointed when we arrived. Just prior to leaving we decided to bring my brother along and so I called, speaking with Franco, to see if we could change our room to the 2 bedroom Lake View. He was very friendly and he took care of the request. After arriving at Lake Alpine we learned the lodging had been closed by the Forest Service. We tried to reach Cedar Glen, late in the evening, leaving a message we had no cell service and we hoped to check into our room earlier than expected. Franco left us messages the room would be ready on our arrival. We were fortunate to be able to move our reservation from Friday-Monday to Tuesday-Friday. At no time were we treated like we were an imposition. The lodge has contact-less check in. One is give a code to access a box with the room keys. Allan did come out and say hi and I visited with him, learning the story of how they came to own the property. The grounds are immaculate. There is a mini-golf area, badminton net, heated swimming pool, gardens, barbeques and picnic tables. The rooms are tastefully decorated. We had packed 7 days of food, expecting to cook the entire length of our vacation, with the last few days to be more simple meals since the lodge room has only a hotplate. The kitchen has a 3/4 size refrigerator, which fits quite a bit of food. We made pasta one night, using the dishes provided. We barbequed hamburgers and steaks the other nights. The employees are as friendly as you want them to be---they are constantly cleaning, though if you ask them a question, they will gladly answer the question. One employee told us where to go fishing. The rooms at this lodge are more expensive than some of the other cabin/lodge accommodations; but you get what you pay for. This lodge is constantly being maintained by conscientious owners, who are trying to create a travel experience one will always remember.

For starters, if you have never been to Tahoe then go there now and stay at the Cedar Glen (unless you like a more Vegas style trip, then head to the bright lights!). Absolutely perfect location across the water from lake, backing onto the forest and peaceful when using their BBQ facilities. The overall property is superbly laid out allowing plenty of space for relaxation, the hot tub is lovely and dont hesitate to ask Franco to spark up the BBQ to cook you ribs, burgers and corn whilst enjoying a nice cold lager! Would like to thank Franco, Allan and Martha for making our stay so enjoying and we will most certainly be back in Tahoe again and will be heading to the Cedar Glen Lodge.

Beautiful lodging! We stayed in a room that was like a joint cabin, but still private. Very warm and cozy. They are environmentally conscious which I also appreciate. Lovely hot tub and sauna; continental breakfast has lots of choices and they leave fruit and hot drinks throughout the day. Games to play in the lodge next to the fire too. They are very knowledgeable and happy to advise. Loved everything about it!

Cedar Glen is perfect. The cabins are quaint, cozy and clean. We really enjoyed coming back after a long hike and relaxing in the room and using the hot tub or sauna. The staff are wonderful and so welcoming! Really can’t say enough good things about this place! Location is great as well, very quick drive to Tahoe City or Truckee. We can’t wait to come back!
