We love staying in Sunnyside. We stayed at this property years ago and were lucky to get a room, kind of last minute, for our California trip. Kelly, the new owner, is delightful and is doing a great job holding onto it's great reputation. Each room, or cabin, is unique and sweet. They provide coffee and half and half so you can make your own each morning. The boxed breakfasts are awesome! A hot choice as well as yogurt and granola and fruit as well as a fresh pastry, plenty of food! Walking distance to our favorite Firesign cafe as well as the Sunnyside restaurant and resort where we can rent kayaks. The refurnished market next store is so great and you can get food and groceries there as well.

The Cottage Inn is magical! A few steps from Lake Tahoe, this cluster of sweet cottages on beautiful grounds has to be one the best places to stay in the region. Rooms are spacious, charming, and quiet. The breakfasts are delicious, different each day, and so much better than standard fare at places that offer breakfast.. Some cottages offer partial lake views. Lots of big trees on this lovely property.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay in North Lake Tahoe - the rooms are cozy, clean, well stocked and brimming with charm (we stayed in Happy Trails and loved it, great views from the corner windows and can see a bit of the lake from the bed when you wake up). The staff are indescribably kind, helpful, accommodating and just an overall joy to be around - maybe cliché to say, but they really do go the extra mile to make sure you're cared for and valued as a guest. There is a market (great beer selection and good munchies!) about a 90 second walk from the property and two excellent cafes (Spoon and Fire Sign) right across the street, and easy access to some great snowshoeing/hiking trails, not much more you could ask for. We'll be back, ASAP! <3

I cannot say enough great things about The Cottage Inn. We stayed here last week for three nights, as we were skiing in the area. The Cottage Inn came recommended by a friend/neighbor and we were so happy to have followed their recommendation. The room was super cute, quiet, comfortable and roomy (we stayed in the Cowboy Romance Room). The bed was comfortable. The bathroom and shower were a nice size. Every morning we had delivered to our room a wonderful breakfast, all delicious and freshly made. Kelly the owner is so accommodating and friendly, as is her staff. You won’t go wrong staying here - right on the lake. I’m somewhat afraid that it will be tough to book a room here, as word spreads. We will be back!

OMG! You absolutely, positively MUST stay here! WOW WOW!!! Just perfect! Where to start. Is it the quaint, ADORABLE, story book perfect cottages with every whimsical touch imaginable? Is it the superb hospitality, the friendliness, the incredible customer service (thank-you Wolfie) yet with a laid back California vibe? Or is it the private lake access where the pebbles on the beach are so smooth you think the beach is a spa? Or it must be the amazing breakfast, fresh made which changes daily, served tableside where you feel like you are at an old fashioned bed and breakfast where you get to chat with other guest about their adventures? If not, how about more chatting with guest (socially distanced tables here) while having happy hour which comes with red or white wine (as much as you want) AND small appetizer plates (yes you can get seconds) beautifully plated and presented? And possibly a bear sighting right on the property if your lucky? What more can I say. The rooms are so cute, the beds are good (not luxury great but good). The fireplaces are romantic, warm and inviting. The rooms are clean (but some things are missed-I'm a yacht stewardess so my standards are super high and I notice even the smallest details no one else noticed). And that might be because they are understaffed a little and were looking to hire help. In fact I almost didn't leave contemplating if I should apply for the position because seriously, I didn't want to leave. Aside from that it is total perfection and not any reason to not stay here. In fact, if you miss it, you really have done yourself a disservie. OMG! Thank-you sooooo much. This was the last leg of a two week driving vacation through California. And having this incredible experience really put our entire trip as one of our trips of a lifetime. I will def book here again in a heartbeat. Didn't see anything quite like it around the lake, yes some other cute cottages, but nothing quite like this STORYBOOK setting. Want to feel like you're in a fairy tale? This is the place-hand down! We met the owner who also cooks in the kitchen. Everything is like family here. Do yourself a favor and stay here. You will not regret it. Any room you can get is probably good. We stayed in their smaller lower cost room/cottage and loved everything about it. Awesome!!!!!!
