Excellent hotel , good ratio quality/fare - we had a corner room and ask for better room - this will be given by boss and staff - nice stay, very quiet, only some feet from best beach - recommended for all.

This hotel fit our needs, but depending on what you're looking for it may not be the best fit for everyone. Some of the pros include: location (safe area; within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, beach; LA is a 10 minute drive); price (we paid $159 a night and neighboring hotels charge well over $300); free WIFI; updated decor in...

People at the frontdesk were not so nice, more irritating, it was busy and there were 2 guys at the frontdesk, not very helpfull. Rooms were okay, but very noisy and warm. Location is very good, great ocean vieuw and 10 minutes walk form the Santa Monica pier. The hotel needs a change and a little bit of new paint.

This is really more of a motel than a hotel. The exterior leaves a lot to be desired, but the interior of the rooms is nice. The furniture and linens are updated, but the amenities remain rather basic. The main plus of the hotel is its location. Although located on a busy street which makes it noisy, if you are...

The noise level in this room was absolutely ridiculous. For 188 dollars, including tax, I expect SILENCE. This is not a hotel. The website is misleading and should be considered as false advertising. We stayed in a 4 star hotel in San Diego for 99 dollars last night. What a disappointment as we traveled from South Carolina excited to stay...

My son and I ended up here because our first choice for quality budget hotels in Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Sea Shore Motel, was booked and I had heard the SMSSM staff refer other would-be guests to the Bayside; they are certainly not doing the guest a favor. While the Bayside has a great location (½-way between the chic...

This is perfectly fine for a motel (not a hotel). No frills (no hair dryers, no air-conditioning, old-fashioned heaters), but trying to add a few boutique touches. Good location really close to the beach and within walking distance of Main Street shops and restaurants and 3rd Street Promenade. However, if you have noisy people staying in the next room -...

Location is between Santa monica and Venice so it is not so shabby, I like that the furniture is Ikea (at least it is not outdated). Parking is hard to get, I really really hate the fact that they charge for internet even if if it is ten box. It should be free. The girl at the front desk was...

Rooms were basic, but it's clean and really well located for the beach as well as Main Street and 3rd Prominade where all the shops/bars/restaurants/etc are. Whatsmore, there was free parking and beds were comfy. The bathroom could do with a refit in particularly (it was clean and repainted but nothing could disguse the outdated suite) and I was surprised...

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
