This Boutique Hotel in Santa Monica is just plain "Cool"! We ended our California trip here, and we had family suite, and the kids were in heaven. Great location, the front reception Staff, were great, the restaurant was delicious, and the lounging by the pool with the pool side bar/restaurant was the icing on the cake. This modern nouveau hotel...

We stayed at the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica in March 2015. The hotel is art deco and not modern but the rooms are large, clean and what has stood out is the outstanding service. Charmian at the Front Desk could not have done enough for us during our stay from the moment we made the reservation. The bell service...

Spent a couple of weeks travelling all over California with the family and this was our favourite hotel of the whole trip. It's a beautiful Art Deco building ideally located overlooking the beach. We had a spacious mini suite with two double rooms which meant our daughter had her own room and bathroom. The jacuzzi tub was great fun and...

We spent two nights here. The pool area is one of the pluses (although the hot tub was cold and unusable), but the hotel rented it out one evening, and hotel guests could not access it. During that time we endured very loud music and couldn't really enjoy our room either. The hotel did comp us one night's stay, but...

We spent 2 days at the Shangrila in February after a little business in California. The room was spacious, with an enormous bathroom and cool deco. We also had a great view of Santa Monica beach although it was on the first floor. The kitchen is stocked great but I was disappointed that there was a coffee maker but no...

My mother used to stay here when she was a child. Beautiful, original Art Deco hotel right on the beach. Great Rooms with all Deco design. This is an architecturally unique (30's streamlined Moderne) small hotel facing a lovely park overlooking the ocean. It is actually a converted apartment building and as such, has some logistical issues. Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
