We wanted a place to use as a travel base for a few days and the Sea & Sand was perfect. Great overlook of the pier and beachfront. Nice clean comfortable rooms and very hospitable staff. After a day of travel north to San Francisco or south to Big Sur, we enjoyed returning to the Sea & Sand Inn. Definitely...

We had booked an ocean front room with a fireplace at this hotel. When we got to our room, we were really disappointed at how different it appeared than the photos. It looked very run down. The room was also freezing cold, so we immediately tried to light the fireplace (which was more of an electrical heater on the wall)...

I’m sorry that the room didn’t meet your expectations. I’m glad to hear that the staff was accommodating and other arrangements were made for you. Your reservation was for one of our cozier rooms, we do offer larger rooms. I’d be happy to show you our larger rooms if you’d like to stay with us in the future. Sincerely, Lisa...

Located on the cliff, the views and location are perfect. Nothing better than having the waves just a few feet away. They host a wine and cheese in the evenings and breakfast in the am. Recently remodeled so it is very nice and a great price depending on when you go of course. We even walked from downtown, but it...

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean ,comfortable rooms all with beautiful views. Close to everything. We loved it and would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone! We stayed in the king suite and had a private patio with our own hot tub.

We got the last room available & it was a wonderful room. Covered parking, kitchen/dining, living room. There is a patio on the back of the room that over looks the water, there is a hot tub and grill on the patio. I read some other reviews that said the area was noisy all hours. Although it is in a...

This was a great little hotel right by the boardwalk. It was easy to find and we were able to walk to dinner. Every room has a view. We particularly loved the fireplace in our room - it had a push start and warmed us right up. We opened the windows for just a bit and loved being able to...

I have stayed in this hotel several times in the last few years. Every time has been lovely. The view, the happy hour wine and cheese snacks by the fireplace, the breakfast bar in the morning, it's always been lovely. This time the rooms had had an upgrade since the last time I was there. The decor was lovely and...

We stayed at the Sea and Sand Inn the first week in January 2017. This probably impacts my review because the weather was terrible and the town was not busy. This inn is very convenient to the Santa Cruz wharf and boardwalk as well as nice walks along W. Cliff Ave. The view is really pretty. We stayed in one...

Our desire to stay and the Sea & Sand was primarily its proximity to the boardwalk. I was searching for a place a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk, but wanted to be close enough we could walk there. This was a perfect fit. The location in in unparalleled. You are above the beach; have an...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The ocean-front Sea & Sand Inn has always been popular with savvy out-of-towners, but a major renovation in 2009 has added a whole new “wow” factor. Three new luxury king spa rooms with ocean view balconies were added; two spacious family cottages with private hot tubs and three other spa rooms were also upgraded.
