The backpackers was small but cosy. Everyone was very friendly. It's very close to everything, especially the beach. The pancake breakfast is amazing too! Holly (staff) was very welcoming and friendly. She helped us out a lot with directions, places to see and things to do. Would definitely recomend. Thankyou

This place is pretty nice inside. I've been to a lot of hostels, and this one is nice. It's just $40 a night. YEah... But it is Santa Barbara. The guy they have running it right now is pretty cool too. New beds too now when I went in 2014 January, so the issue of the beds is through. New...

I stayed at the hostel whilst trying to find a house and loved every minute. The hostel itself is ok, small but that makes everyone more friendly. However the staff really make this place awesome Holly is amazing! So friendly and will help anyone with anything. Tawny and Cameron are also awesome and put such great vibes in to this...

For Santa Barbara being really expensive this guesthouse is a nice and cheaper alternative, The staff was really nice and helpful. Bathroom en restrooms were clean and the complimentary pancake breakfast is a nice extra

Don't ever go to that place, it's absolutely ridiculous and overprized. We had to search for our sheets, because the beds weren't ready. The beds themselves were really uncomfortable and every time one of us moved, they made a sound as if a pig was dying. We killed one cockroach while watching tv and I'm sure there were more of...

It was a great experience! We loved it very much for sure! Nice people, nice place, not too far from that famous street... I miss their pancakes! :) It was so much fun to meet young people (like us) from everywhere around the world... Good atmosphere! Place to go if you want to save some money during your trip and...

This hostel was terible, we should have looked at the reviews before going there. Grumpy staff, dirty bathrooms, no hot water, small room with a 4 inches matress, etc! They say they have "all you can eat" pancakes... Basically, they put a container full of pancake mix and that's it, no coffee, no juice...nothing else! It's a rip off, we...

I stayed at AAE hostel for the past three nights and really enjoyed my time there. It was an affordable option for a solo traveller and was a pleasant first experience of the USA. The rooms were very basic but after all if you re on a holiday they are only to sleep in so didn't matter that they were...

If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep in Santa Barbara, this hostel is a good choice. For those more particular about comfort and aesthetically pleasing accommodations, this isn't an option to consider. Stayed at AAE for two nights because hotels in the area are ridiculously expensive in the summer. I was hesitant about staying here after reading a...

We stayed here for only 1 night (thank god). This is a house about 20min walk from the town centre which has been converted into a hostel. Small rooms jammed with bunk beds. The bathrooms are hideously dirty with hair in the drains and mould on the shower curtain. Wouldn't recommend for the price!
