This hostel is a cosy house with a big table by the kitchen area and an nice common room. It is however fairly run down and quite messy. Also not the cleanest I've ever been to... Staff member Julian was super friendly and helpful beyond what was expected.

The location of this hostel is 2 blocks from the Amtrak station, which is a plus for us traveling on the Coast Starlight train from Los Angeles Union Station, (but that trip is a different review.) There are 28 beds available, and we select the Morrow Rock room, a private room that has a double bed and a bunk bed....

We stayed here on our trip down the PCH. Can't say enough about how terrible this place is. The only two places below this on our experience was a hotel in Quito Ecuador with scorpions running across the floor and a hotel in Quebec that we found on a bet to find the worst hotel in that area. The room...

Friendly staff, very helpful. Comfortable mattress, slept like a baby. This is not a hotel, more like staying at a friends house. Met some nice, interesting people. Will definitely be staying in Hostels in the future.

It looks better in photos than what you really get. We booked a 6 dorm being 4 people, since there were no other room available. First thing room was occupied we had to complain since it was them who offered the option of keeping the whole room for privacy. Once it was sort it out, we found that the former...

I only planned to stay for one night on my trip to Southern California. The receptionist was friendly and made suggestions on where I could eat. The other guests were pleasant. The hostel is in an old house with great potential. However the bathrooms and kitchen were very dirty and were in desperate need of cleaning. Not much has been...

We stayed there only one night ! The 6 beds dorms are alright, the staff is welcoming. The kitchen is a little bit small but the pancakes of the morning are a plus! The best advantage of the hostel is its location 4 blocks away from the Main Street Higuero where all the nightlife takes place

We stayed just one night as a stopover on our way to LA. The hostel has a warm and welcoming vibe. The area seemed nice and the building is unlike other hostels as you feel as if you are staying in someone's home. There is a piano and guitars for those musical travellers out there. The hostel is clean and...

The HI Hostel in San Luis Obispo is in a normal residential area and it's a converted house. There is parking around the back and I had no problem parking there. Beware that there's not a whole lot going on in the area. Luckily I had a car so I drove to Denny's for dinner. This hostel is a converted...

“Be sure that you understand that a hostel is not a hotel. The dorm accommodations are an exceptionally good value, but they are dormitories. There are rooms that can be reserved privately; be sure to ask about this if you want your own space.”

“The private room by the office turned out to be very loud. If you're on the main floor, choose the bathroom and shower directly across from the front door, not the one to the right.”
