We had two rooms recently for myself and my husband and my daughter and son-in-law. We were upgraded from the nook and cranny rooms to the gardenia and soleil rooms. We too had the grand tour of the house, which was interesting. There are a lot of items around which adds to the character. We did notice some dust, but...

Thank you for your gracious review. We're glad you found it a positive experience. We like to think of the place as Shabby-Chic which seems to fit in with your Different and Quirky. We're in the process of finding someone to help us with housekeeping now that we're so busy that we sometimes we fall a bit behind on the...

overall this place is nice. it has a victorian theme and very comfortable. all rooms have a theme and we got a tour if the different offerings. the host offer a very nice breakfast and if you want to hear is life story, he is willing to share ;) the only thing keeping this place from full 5 stars was...

Thank you so much for your gracious review and we appreciate your suggesting a possible explanation (over-furnished) for "some dust". In all honesty, the main reason is that we have fallen behind in our detail housekeeping due to the fact that we are experiencing a much higher level of working guests since the Butte Fire. Consequently we aren't experiencing the...

A delightful stay. My 12 yr old son and I stayed a night this last weekend and were impressed with not only the excellent food ( I'm kicking myself for not getting the recipe for the "fruit soup" ) but the friendly and accommodating service. We'll be staying here again.

We're so happy you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for taking the time to review. We'll make sure to email you the recipe for the fruit soup. Still of the opinion you were more likely brother and sister rather than mom and son!

We stayed two days here while exploring the area and caving just a bit. It was a warm and inviting place to stay. The hosts were welcoming and very friendly. Our rooms were charming and full of Karen's favorite things. We all enjoyed it very much.

Two Thumbs and Four Paws Up!!! Great, tasty, stomach loving food. European décor and Victorian beauty transports you back to an era not forgotten. The welcomingly warm home appeal and botanical bonanza effortlessly transforms you. After meeting Grocho the Coon Cat you may never want to leave. Thank you Karen, Bill, Groucho and the rest of the gang!!!

Thank you Brian. We appreciate the kind words despite the fact that Groucho hasn't been quite the same since you checked out. The first thing he does whenever he manages to get in is to check out your room, no doubt to check if you've come back. And we agree, it was a fun gang while it lasted.

This is a remodeled and still quaint Queen Anne Victorian with plenty of warmth and character. Bill and Karen K. bend over backwards (which is quite a stretch!) to make sure you have everything you need and then some. My favorite of the ten-room mansion is the Safari Room...I can't wait to come back! Dan the Solar Man

Thanks for the great review Daniel but I have to correct you on at least 1 point. We're getting too old to bend ..... at least backwards! So we've substituted "going above an beyond" . We look forward to a return visit in the near future. Hope you have an enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Stayed in San Andreas for a few days and lucked into this place. This is a gorgeous old home that has been gracefully redone into a beautiful bed and breakfast. I stayed in the Soleil Room, right off the kitchen, which had an extremely comfortable bed and its own bathroom. Bill and Karen could not have been better hosts -...

This place is excellent. Bill and his wife are just incredible hosts. Great rooms, food, and location. If you're headed to San Andreas, this is the place to stay. Bill was flexible in terms of making breakfast available for when it worked best for us. He also gave us tons of tips about where to eat and what to do....

Thanks for the great review David. Everything is kind of bass-ackward (sic) since the Butte fire, with an emphasis on midweek business travelers rather than the casual weekend fare we're used to. So glad to hear we're raising to the occasion.

During a week-long trip to the Gold Country, we were fortunate to be given a gift certificate for a two-night stay at this wonderful Victorian bed and breakfast inn in San Andreas. We travelled from Toronto to visit the "Toronto elephants" at PAWS - Performing Welfare Animal Society sanctuary and stayed with Karen and Bill at their lovely Robin's Nest.
