We enjoyed three nights at Apricot Cottage with our two children (9 and 5yo). It was cosy and comfortable, the perfect place to retreat to after a day of driving, walking and exploring. Loved the combustion heater and views over the orchard. Kitchen and bathroom were well equipped and bedrooms were comfy. During our stay mains electricity to the property was cut by the very unfortunate driving of a truck with a too-high load along the road, taking out the power line! However, host Paul was super helpful while the electricity crew worked day and night to fix it, bringing us portable lamps and setting up a generator to pump water through the taps. Our kids loved the opportunity to ‘camp’ inside this comfy cottage with its warm fire - all part of the fun! They also enjoyed befriending the farm dogs, Jet and Indy. We bought some dried fruit, jam and pickle from the orchard to bring home.

Such a lovely, peaceful location. The kids loved the dogs and we took ourselves for a walk around the farm and also a hike in the beautiful Wirrabara forest.
I wish we could have stayed longer as it is the perfect place to rest, rejuvenate, enjoy nature and spend time together as a family.
The cupboard of toys, books and games was a life saver since “ I” forgot to pack games to bring with us.
There is a fabulous bakery and pub in Wirrabara but I recommend bringing food with you as it’s nice to make use of the kitchen and then sit out on the deck overlooking the orchard while you eat.
We really appreciated seeing a working biodynamic farm and it worked in balance with the natural environment.

Definitely keen to return.

Beautiful place to stay. The accommodation had everything we needed - full kitchen ,excellent views of the biodynamic farming, great beds, lots of space, lovely pot belly stove with wood, and some tasty dried fruit. Location was great with lots of nearby bushwalking options. We only stayed an overnighter whilst travelling but could easily have stayed longer.

From the moment we stepped into Ruby Cottage we knew we had found something special. The cottage itself was very comfortable and cozy with that "country feel" with large windows and outside decking to make the most of the beautiful scenery. And the scenery is beautiful, the orchard, forest, just the perfect, peaceful getaway. I cannot rave enough about this place :)

From booking to arrival, the owners were lovely to deal with. The property is incredibly situated in the middle of the forest and the orchard. The scent of peaches and apricots blew me away as i stepped out of the car. The view off the verandah is just beautiful and nothing beats waking up to the rooster and the sunrise. The inside of Ruby Cottage was very clean and tidy and nicely decorated with a homely feel. Would stay here again no question. As my husband puts it, it's just delightful!

Thanks to Paul and Denise, for sharing Rose Cottage - one of their two B&Bs that form part of their biodynamic orchard.
We had a delightful three-day stay. Clean and comfortable, picturesque views, ideal for a couple or family.
Plenty of superb walks, drives and not far from townships. A great base to explore the Southern Flinders.

Stayed in Ruby Cottage for 3 nights with the family. We all had a fabulous time. 4 year old loved feeding the chickens, collecting eggs and making friends with the other animals. Helping put the animals to bed each night was a highlight. Teenager enjoyed bushwalking and taking time out in the bush setting.
The cottage is lovely and well equipped for a great holiday break. Beds are super comfy. Everything very clean and tidy.
All of us want to return soon. The dried fruits and jams are totally delicious, so glad I bought some to take home.

I'm not sure what rated highest, the hospitality, the gorgeous accommodation or the beautiful location. I will be disappointed if I don't get to stay here again to immerse myself in the peaceful environment and to enjoy the many comforts and views from the cottage. Thank you Denise and Paul.

Down a winding dirt road near Wirrabara is Taralee Orchards. I stayed in Ruby Cottage which was spacious, homely and comfortable. The wood heater was stacked ready for lighting the evening I arrived and provided a lovely warmth and ambience. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner / heater though if you don't want a fire. All the amenities you would need including washing machine, to and DVD player. This would be an ideal getaway for a couple or family.

Are dogs allowed? We have a young labradoodle - she doesn’t shed and is fully house trained.

Hi, Unfortunately not, as we have two kelpies who are very protective and would make your dog's stay very uncomfortable. Also, our neighbour has sheep close by, and I cannot take any chances there

"Recommend to include the breakfast into the tariff. This is because the breakfast items comprise fresh produce, and Denise was exceptionally generous in the provision."
