Staff is friendly - location is convenient and rooms are clean with nice knotty pine walls. Beds are comfy. Would have liked a bathtub (shower only). Nice personal touches like a range of reading BOOKS (not just magazines) in the room. It is a roadside motel, but the road noise was negligible. A little pricey but there are few other...

My Husband, our two dogs (one very large and the other, very small) and myself consider ourselves very fortunate to have found a vacancy at this well-appointed and quite comfortable 1950's Motel. When we next return to our mining claim located on Greenhorn Creek in Quincy, we plan to again reside at this quaint setting. No other facility in the...

Over look the kitschy, stuff and see the charming old style motel underneath. Wicker outside the door prefect for morning coffee or sunset watching. Clean comfy bed and bath. Quilt shop is a bonus, rooms stuffed with clean fresh fabric, tools and very helpful owners. Even the dachshunds were sweet. Cheers

I stayed at Sleepy Pines as a base camp for fly fishing Lake Davis and Frenchman Lake. The hosts were wonderful and keep the rooms nice and tidy and clean. The bed was comfortable and the room had both heating and air conditioning - which came in handy in October - warm days and cold nights. Decent sized room with...

A great example of what an independent motel should be. Owners are on site, and will do anything to make your stay pleasant. Rooms are decent and clean, shower and beds very good. Price is right, parking adequate. Tip: I stayed in a single queen room, and my two friends stayed in a room that was listed to have two...

With only a couple of lodging choices in Portola, we relied on other reviews and decided on Sleepy Pines Motel. What a nice place. It's old, but doesn't feel "run down" at all. The rooms are nice and well-kept. The owners are friendly and have a well-stocked quilt shop attached to the office. Even though it's right on the main...

We have stayed at Sleepy Pines Motel twice now. We love the quaintness of the place. And if you are a birder this place is a must to stay. Every night the owner puts out alot of seed. And there are Tree Swallow nest boxes everywhere with active nests in each one. The birds come and eat starting early. We...

Near down town Portola is a gem of a motel with log-cabin construction and within real knoty pine walls and ceiling. Well maintained mom and pop family run business and cabins. Flowers everywhere. Proprietors very friendly and helpful. Has satilite Dish t.v. and internet. Prices are in the range of Motel 6 or Economy Lodge. I stayed a week and...
