I spent two nights at The Madrones. We stayed in Room IV, which was very large and had two queen beds. It was above the Stone and Embers restaurant, but we did not hear or smell anything from the restaurant. The room had a view of the vineyard next door. It was very comfortable and spacious. There are four tasting...

We stayed in "The Kitchen," one of the four rooms converted from the owner's cottage at the back of the property into guest accommodations. The Kitchen is very spacious and private. In addition to the features shown in the photos, the room has a large walk-in shower. It also has a small kitchen area with a sink, microwave, under-counter refrigerator,...

There are several rooms here, and most are very near the road and up steep stairs. The best room is the The Master, which has a large deck overlooking a koi pond, garden and vineyard. It also has a large alcove with a small single bed, and a king bed. Nice sheets. Large bath with a tiled, 1 meter square...

The Madrones is a beautiful little "inn" located in Philo among farms and wineries of Anderson valley. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. Also on the property are 4 tasting rooms and the best wood fired pizza we've ever tasted. Stay in the cabins, a work in progress, if you are with a group. Loved everything about this place....

What a beautiful place. We stayed in the Master Suite which had a deck that overlooked the koi pond and the vineyard and mountains. The room was spacious and elegant. The light breakfast that was in the fridge was perfect. There are 7 wineries within walking distance. The restaurant in the complex, Stone and Embers had delicious food. We will...

Two couples traveled together. We had a goldie so were recommended to stay in The Kitchen suite, and my sister stayed in The Masters suite. Our room is spacious and more than ok to stay with our goldie and the Masters is nice and unique setting with the sitting area and the patio, reminded me of some Italian farmhouse stays...

We love the property. It has a very nice yard. We loved that. The room was clean and nicely stocked and it was a comfortable stay and bed. I will return for sure. It was our 3rd visit. Its a quiet area for adults who want perfect weather wine and food.

Over all we had a nice stay. A little disjointed trying to check in, finally went to one of the tasting rooms to get in our room. The room was pretty clean, toilet could have used something to get the ring out, I don't think anyone had stayed in the room for awhile. There was a tile step that was...

We stayed in the Spare Rooms. We had a nice suite, very comfortable bed, lovely surroundings. They do provide maid service now. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and Nespresso machine. A nice touch was that they provided cereal, yogurt, milk, banana bread, and juice, so we did not have to go out for breakfast. The gardens are beautiful. Very peaceful...

This is a beautiful property! The rose gardens is the most beautiful that I've ever seen. Our room was spacious and well appointed in every way, just very comfortable. I felt like we were staying in a private mansion. Our room came with complimentary tasting at all of the 4 onsite tasting rooms, although we only made it to one...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As seen in Sunset, Food & Wine and Departures Magazines, The Madrones is an Agriturismo style destination which offers just four luxurious guest quarters for travelers who seek something unique and intimate in rural setting. This is not a hotel or B&B, so the service is very low touch...no daily maid service is provided. Perfect for travelers looking for a place to get away without someone hovering over you. If you are looking for accommodations rich in amenities, such as spas, restaurants, room service & breakfast, this is probably not a good fit. Surrounded by vineyards and wineries in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this Mediterranean styled compound which was originally a home and private business has garnered prestigious national awards and recognition. The property has four separate tasting rooms offering local small lot wines, as well as a curiosity store, cheese counter and private gardens. ... more   less
