So if you are good with a cozy, yet worn room, this is your place. I was so comfortable here in the bed but the rest of the room was a little dated. I've attached some pictures that show a bit of the room. We stayed in Room 2 because we had a dog. That meant the carpet was old...

Heading south along 101 and the Avenue of the Giants, I needed an inexpensive and simple place to stay. Gave the Riverwood Inn a call and Gary happily set me up in their queen bed room. When I mentioned I was on a bike, he added "Oh, we have indoor bike parking too." SOLD! Melissa was waiting for me when...

If you're traveling either north or south on US 101, take the time to bypass 101 for awhile and step into the awesome, green, hushed, and unhurried atmosphere of a scenic byway, aptly called, "Avenue of the Giants." This wonderful scenic road goes in and out of stands of first growth redwoods that are huge, and growing right up to...

We stayed here one night and really liked it. The bartender was very friendly and helped us to get food even though we arrived as the kitchen was about to close (9pm on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend). Our room was good, basic, clean. To repeat the other reviews but please don't come here expecting a hotel - you'll...

Booked because it's the last remaining genuine roadhouse on our roadtrip. Just wish we had been there at the weekend or when there was live music. Too quite mid week. But the welcome was genuine. Enjoyed some beers with the owner and had one of the best Mexican meals outside of Mexico. The rooms are old but that's what makes...

What a unique experience! We stayed at this Roadhouse/ Mexican Restaurant. The rooms are below the bar, kitchen and restaurant and it feels like you have escaped to a "secret hideaway" when you go down to your rooms through a door located right near the kitchen. We were traveling with another couple and our rooms had an adjoining balcony which...

In our opinion, the Riverwood Inn is probably not for everyone...with a series of rooms in what would most aptly be described as the basement below the roadhouse bar/restaurant (except that the steeply sloping lot provides a small balcony space off the rooms overlooking the wooded valley and hills in the distance.) The rooms have no air conditioning and we...

We stopped at this restaurant out of desperation and had a delightful lunch. The tortillas were freshly home-made, the ingredients were very tasty and the portions were large. They also have a large selection of micro-brews (we sampled a local from a bottle) and tequilas (we did not sample). The restaurant has a tavern in the front and a billiards...

“fyi - there is no central heating in this facility The rooms are heated by space heaters and can take awhile for the rooms to heat up. If you can't handle a little bit of rustic style - go elsewhere”
