Detailed Reviews
We had a mid-week getaway with our dog and toddler. The staff at the hotel was wonderfully accommodating, and they were great about social distancing, mask wearing and just keeping everyone safe. Our room was super clean, and the door was sealed with special tape so we knew we were the only folks who had checked in and been into the room since it was cleaned. The restaurant, King's Highway, was perfect for our three meals a day, which meant we didn't even have to venture off property for anything we needed.

Room Tip: Get a patio room if you can! The enclosed outdoor space is great.

Upon arriving the concierge staff were friendly, expeditious, and kind. The pool wait service was on point, very gracious, and attentive. The fridge was stacked! I could write pages about the minimalist decor. The details The Ace puts into their properties is bar none. The kleenex box has a army canvas note about linens and every other room detail made me feel at ease. The penny tiles in the shower were like heaven on our feet. The king size bed, pillows and linens were like a hug filled cloud. Get to the pool early to reserve the lounge bed. You will not regret it. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while you wait for the sun to start toasting your skin. The salads are well done. I'd skip the flatbread - not a re-order for me.

I really loved this place!! Such a cute place to stay and the ambiance of the rooms and the outdoors were really homey and cozy. We absolutely loved the smaller pool, very quiet and easy to relax there. The communal fires were great! Everything in the room was so comfy as well- the beds were comfortable and the room amenities were perfect. With COVID, they only cleaned your room if you asked for something, but the front desk was so kind and helped out whenever we needed something.

Do yourself a favor and find a different hotel to stay at unless you enjoy throwing away your hard-earned money, then by all means stay at the Ace. As a teen/20s, I and my friends would stay here during Spring Break back when it was a Howard Johnson's and we didn't have much cash, and as far as I can see not much has changed on the outside, except for a coat of white paint! Seriously. Fast forward to present day, all I can say is the owner who bought the HJ, had the carpets ripped out to the bare concrete floor, hung up a heavy canvas covering for the window, picked up some wooden crates from the back of grocery stores and placed them in the rooms and called them 'coffee tables' and thought to himself, I know I can charge $600+/night, not provide any cleaning service, provide only a 1"x1" soap bar, place only two bath towels that only cover a single thigh and we'll call it 'cool' and the millennials will love it! They say it's "the vibe" you're paying for! WTF?
We booked a room, paid an additional $100 more each night for what we thought was going to be a private fireplace patio area, only to get to our room and see it was shared with all our neighbors - we never had any private fireplace or patio!
Regarding the restaurant, we were not told by the concierge or anyone who checked us in that we had to make reservations to eat at the restaurant. We got to the restaurant at 11:20am. Thought it was a good time between breakfast and lunch and only 2 tables had people, no one at the counter, and when my husband and I were asked if we had reservations and said we didn't, we were told the wait was 1 1/2 hrs! I came back a half hour later to check if any tables were taken, and no the same people were still at them. So we ordered our food to go and had no where to eat it!
There was also 2 weddings last weekend. So the only pool we could use was the main pool as the other one was 'reserved.' So unless you got your towels out on the lounge chairs by 7am, you really were s* outta luck. So our two nights cost us $1,400 and it pains me to think how that $1,400 could have served us better.
Bottom line, there are so many better options with better "vibes!"

We were sent to Ace Hotel when Hotel Zoso over sold occupancy despite our prepaid reservation. Ace confirmed Zoso would pay our room fee. At check in, Ace asked for $100 on credit card to cover any incidentals during our 1 night stay. The next morning at check out, we were given a receipt with no charges. We were surprised to learn later that day that Ace withdrew $987 from bank account. Manager said we were charged 2 night at $438 + $100 incidental deposit and she could not refund. Was I supposed to use the unexpected room decorations (biblical looking staff and burlap cloth hanging on wall hook that either Moses or Lord of the Rings’ Gandolf may wear) and instead of Moses’ line “let my people go”, I wear this outfit in lobby and say “let my money go”? Help us get our money back!

We came to the Ace Palm Springs to celebrate a birthday and were nothing but disappointed.
The hotel is isolated like a cheap motel, you can hear every step of your neighbor. We changed rooms a couple of times but it did not get better.
When we complained about it, we got a "yes, we're a loud hotel" answer, which is - in our opinion - like a restaurant saying that "we know the food isn't good". Who does not want to have a quiet night of sleep for $400?
The heat did not function in our room, it was freezing cold at night. A bright strobe light was blinking all night long from the fire alarm. After complaining, somebody came to put a sticker on it (which fell off a few minutes later). To get up there, he used our night stand as a ladder and made us move all the things on there in the middle of the night. It felt very unprofessional.
Overall: This hotel is nice to look at and made for those who prefer nice Instagram photos over a quality hotel. It is overpriced and has a "too hip to be professional" vibe. Can not recommend.

+1
I stayed here in October 2020 and was pretty disappointed.
We had a patio room but what isn’t advertised is that the patios are not private because they’re in front of the guest room and are open at the top which means people walking in the hallway upstairs can look directly into your patio. The is a shade triangle but it only shades half the patio at a time and provides no privacy. The room itself was rather small, the bathroom door was broken, the light switch was going out, and the record player was broken. These are not deal breakers but they are nuisances that add up over time for a room has wasn’t cheap.
The pool area wasn’t at all what I expected. The lounge chairs are made of rope and are incredibly uncomfortable. The shade umbrellas are also cemented into the ground so they can’t be moved as needed. The biggest issue I had was the lack of Covid cautions and I was shocked at how crowded the main pool was. There was very little, if any, caution given to social distancing and my partner and I left almost immediately for the smaller pool which was sparsely populated and easier to ensure a safe distance. Seems that even during a pandemic Ace is trying to keep up its reputation as the hipster spot for Coachella hook ups.

Another magical stay! Every staff member is so friendly and accommodating. We love how dog friendly they are and truly appreciated the late check out that was approved when work was keeping me late. You immediately feel you’re on vacation when you walk through the gate into the pool. Just wonderful.

We came to Palm Springs with the intention of staying in an Airbnb for our motley crew (two couples, a baby and toddler, and two cats). During our stay, the AC at the Airbnb broke during the height of the heat wave, with temps outdoors reaching 118 degrees and temps inside reaching high 90's. We had a difficult time finding a quick and adequate resolution with our Airbnb host, and I was worried about the safety of the kids (and adults for that matter!).
When I called the Ace at 9pm to see if there was a chance our group could stay last minute, Jackie swooped in and saved the day. She came through with perfect room recommendations for our group, and was the first truly empathetic voice we heard in the 2 days of the AC catastrophe. When it was time to check out, she again came through with a flexible check-out time so that we could keep mom, toddler, and baby (okay, and cats too!) safe in the AC while the rest of the group packed up the Airbnb home.
I truly can't imagine what we would have done in that situation if not for the Ace's perfect accommodations—keeping both cats and babies happy—and Jackie's impeccable customer service. Thank you x 10000!

I’ve worked in the hotel industry for 12 years so it’s difficult to ever pony up and pay a full price hotel room, but I’m happy to do it if it’s worth it, and sadly the Ace does not live up to any of the hype. Maybe... if you’re desperate to be a hipster, want to throw your money away, and take some Instaworthy photos, then this is the place for you! But to spend over $400 per night for a cheaply renovated motel that has not one piece of furniture that is comfortable to sit on, has lounge chairs that you fall through, cracked ceilings and walkways being held together with a screw, and had food, drink, and retail prices higher than any Ritz I’ve stayed at, well... needless to say I won’t be back! Any other motel along the street would have been comparable to the Ace. All that they would have been missing was the outrageous price and the thong-clad girls by the pool thinking this place was cool when in reality it was a stinky pig with lipstick on.
