We've stayed here for the last five years in a row, with other couples, all attending the Tour de Palm Springs bike festival. The overall 'wow' factor is fading and those extra bits that justified the high price are no longer here. Examples: wine happy hour - it used to come with gourmet food bites/tapes, such as proscuitto wrapped asparagus, and warm quiche bites etc... Now basically nothing. First night was some nuts and cheese (no longer brought to you - just left on a sideboard). Second night was a flatbread pizza (also left on the sideboard). Another example: we arrived at the happy hour 10 mins early and were told the only way we could have a glass of wine now was to buy a bottle (our 3 couple group pays over $2,000/night to stay here - so $4,000 for the weekend) - this was really cheap and cheesy. We caved and bought the wine - red was essentially hot - stored in the kitchen clearly. Turn down service: nothing happens other than a 50/50 shot at getting a chocolate or cookie on your bed. Newspapers at breakfast - no longer offered. Coffee service pre-breakfast: tough to come by now - no set up to get coffee from. Snacks in rooms: getting smaller - used to have chocolate covered raisens, plus many other goodies - now a small bag of nuts and pretzels. Still no HBO or movie channel. The room we stayed in had the laundry machines across the hall. The room service team would leave the door open as they did laundry so the loud noises, beeping, and chatting / commotion all afternoon long in there makes it hard to rest in the room. While the location can't be beat, and it is a lovely building, one just senses its suffering from attempts at cost cutting rather than doubling down on being better. We'll likely look elsewhere next year now.

I have been coming to Palm Springs for over two decades, and this is the finest hotel I have stayed in the entire time. Historic inns are always tricky due to the potential for quirky rooms, thin walls or half hearted renovations such as a coat of paint on ancient windows. That is not the case here. All of the fixtures are new and fully functional. The individual heating and air works perfectly. The bedding is comfortable. The rooms provide both regular and sparkling water. The entire place is immaculate. The high level of service starts the moment they meet you at your car to assist with your luggage. The service was very attentive throughout the entire stay. Once they saw me sitting in the sun on the patio off the main house and spontaneously brought out iced water for me. The full homemade breakfast changes daily and is enough to cover you for both breakfast and lunch! You are able to have this brought to your room if you desire. There is evening wine and hors-d'oeuvres. This may be cut back a bit during COVID. I do wish there had been a thermos of coffee and tea in the afternoons. The various rooms such as living room and library would be perfect for sipping afternoon tea in front of the fireplace. I personally prefer that over the evening wine servings. The rooms vary greatly in size, location and cost. Most are in the two main houses with courtyard entrances. The smaller two are in a third back house where we stayed. The upstairs Tahquitz Room was perfect with total quiet and privacy and splendid sunny mountain views. There is daily room service and turn down service. The upstairs room does not have its own patio like the room downstairs but definitely gets the better views. Some of the other rooms did not seem as private since they were on the main paths. The hidden grounds with winding paths and water features are a delight. You can find all sorts of quiet nooks with benches to sit in quiet. The grounds were in spectacular bloom despite being in the dead of winter. The pool is heated to 86 degrees even in winter. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is a hidden gem which I wish I had known about before.

We just stayed there for our 49th wedding anniversary. It is one of the most beautiful accommodations we’ve ever experienced. The Willows is kept in pristine shape and seems to focus on maintaining the rooms and the grounds as if everything was brand new back in the 1930s. It is very quiet and made for relaxation. The “party” is only a couple of blocks away, given The Willows’ proximity (just a couple of blocks) to Palm Canyon Drive. Breakfasts are included and not to be missed. The only downside is that The Willows is pricey, but the good news is that it is worth it. We will probably return for our 50th in 2023.

My husband and I spent a night at The Willows during a very long cross country road trip and really wish we'd had time to stay longer. It's located just a couple of short blocks from the main street but is an oasis of peace and seclusion. We especially enjoyed the lush gardens which included hummingbirds flitting about. We booked the Marion Davies Room which was sumptuous in Old Hollywood style with a small balcony overlooking the garden and mountains. It was exceptionally comfortable and well equipped, and so quiet. We slept very well. Every member of the team is delightful and helpful. A very good breakfast is included and served in a lovely room with a view of a garden and water feature. We skipped the complimentary evening drinks and hors d’oeuvres because we were going out to dinner and can't eat that much. It was one of our favorite hotels on a trip where we stayed in 30 different places. While not inexpensive, it was definitely worth the price. As a bonus there's a terrific restaurant mere steps away - Le Vallauris. Thank you for allowing us an early checkin and for making our stay so wonderful!

My husband and I stayed here in October when the weather was stay in the 100s. We stayed in the Tahquitz #16 room. This room is totally private and separate from the rest of the property. We had sweeping views of the mountains with windows on 3 sides. The room is beautiful decorated. The bed is huge and quite comfortable. The TV is a smart TV so you can watch your apps with your own log in. The room has a comfy couch and chair. Plenty of closet space and a refrigerator. The bathroom has a separate tub and shower with excellent temperature and water pressure. Due to COVID restrictions you can have your nightly wine and appetizer plate delivered to your room. This is not to be missed as everything is fresh and delicious & each evening there were different selections. After the first day Ben knew the type of wine we preferred. Ben was wonderful he helped with our luggage and showed us all around property when we arrived. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. Pool floats were provided. The grounds are well maintained we only wished that we could have explored more but with temperatures above 100 degree it was just too hot. Breakfast can be delivered to your room or you can go to the dining area and eat outside or inside. We chose to dine outside by the waterfall every day because the weather was gorgeous. Each morning you get a 3 course breakfast that is made fresh and each day was better than the day before. The coffee is excellent and you can get coffee to go if you like. We would let to thank Gordon and everyone else that helped out with breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay at The Willows and can’t wait to go back. The Willows is perfect for rest, relaxing, very quiet, excellent food & service and most of all no children.

I don’t even know where to start because my husband and I had the most wonderful getaway at The Willows!
We are not the type of people to stay at a big resorts and we knew we wanted to be able to walk to restaurants and shops in Palm Springs. We decided to book with the Willows for a couple of reasons- 1. Location 2. Beautiful grounds 3. Unique beautiful rooms 4. All of the positive reviews and 5. 24 hour pool/hot tub
The price is completely appropriate and worth it. The pool and hot tub are relaxing and quiet. There are fruit trees and other pretty plants around the area. Staff were always quick to ask if we needed anything by the pool. The grounds itself are really charming, peaceful and lots of greenery and different flowers.
We decided to stay in the Cielito room and it was fantastic. Spacious, super comfortable bed, darkening shades, and a spacious bright bathroom. The shower is huge and there is also a tub. We liked how the room was tucked away up some stairs in the house but there were still plenty of places to lounge around like the various outdoor seating options, indoor living rooms etc.
The staff at The Willows were truly incredible and accommodating in every single way. I had notified the staff I was vegan and the breakfast and evening snack options were perfect for me. I was always given options and asked what I would like. There was always fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, sautéed veggies, etc. I was so impressed by the stuffed avocado dish as it was really inventive. My husband who eats all enjoyed the eggs, bacon, muffins and much more. The evening snack and wine are a really nice way to relax before dinner. Again, I was always accommodated with fresh veggies, hummus, crackers, guacamole etc.
The location could not be better. We were always a short drive to nearby hikes and a quick walk to so many different restaurants and shops.
We were here during the pandemic and felt SO safe. All staff are in masks and it’s a smaller inn compared to the big resorts so we never felt like there were too many people around and there is always somewhere beautiful to relax on the property we could go and be completely alone. There were sanitizing products in all shared powder rooms and everything always felt very clean.
This was my first time to Palm Springs and I will never stay anywhere else.

Perfect place, just behind the art museum, which is walking distance (two blocks) from the main street in Palm Springs. Each room is unique with beautiful antiques. The three course breakfasts were delicious served with white linens and silver service. They also catered to my dietary restrictions. In the evening, they serve California wines with delicious appetizers. The grounds were beautifully maintained. This is a wonderful spot for any special occasion!

I have wanted to stay in the Einstein Room for years because I’m something of a scientist myself. The planets aligned and we were able to book the room at $700/nt (which was a decent rate at the time) for a Christmas staycation present to ourselves. Unfortunately, the days we were there were the coldest of December and it rained most of the time so we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the pool or the grounds as we would have liked. The little that we were able to see/do was absolutely beautiful and charming. The grounds are a vintage cosplayers dream!
I have stayed at historic hotels before so the room itself was pretty much what I expected – old but beautiful. The room was peaceful and relaxing and the bed was perfect for lounging all morning while we waited out the rain. My biggest criticism of the room was that the tub was much smaller than what I was hoping for and seemed much more utilitarian than luxurious. All in all, a very minor issue and nothing that would keep me from coming back.
My biggest criticism about our stay was the service was hit and miss. Our first evening there the fob for the gate did not work so we were unable to get back onto the property. We called from the front call box 3 times and attempted the phone number listed on website a few times but no one answered. We waited outside the gate for a solid 15 minutes in the cold rain until a groundskeeper saw us and let us in. We brought it up with the manager at breakfast and they happily swapped our fob but didn’t say much about us waiting in the cold to get back into the hotel. The following night they told us there was a wine/cheese reception but during the stated reception hours we couldn’t find anyone so we had to call the hotel on the phone from the dining area to get their attention and they disappeared immediately after dropping off our plates. To have the staff be MIA at a time where they would be expected to be available is problematic. During COVID I would normally offer a pass for service since so many places are understaffed but we were literally 1 of 3 guests staying at the hotel and the things we were inquiring about were pretty basic during regular hours. For a luxury property with luxury prices I would expect that it wouldn’t be so difficult to get the services I paid for. I’m on the fence as to whether I would stay there again. It’s stunningly beautiful, relaxing, and historic but for the price the level of service should match.

This place was fabulous. The service is outstanding, the food is amazing and conveniently located in the heart of downtown, (set back from the bustle so it is quiet and relaxing) There are amazing views from this spot. I have stayed many places in Palm Springs, but this is my favorite. The only thing missing is food and beverage service at the pool which you can get at other hotels.
Be aware that this Inn closes in the summer months, so you are unable to contact them by phone or email until they re-open in mid September.

Martinel (?) and Mia were wonderful staff, very friendly, helpful, genuine, attentive, and felt like friends to us. We were surrounded by nature, secluded yet walking distance to the Art Musuem, restaurants, etc. There was also a beautiful short hike up the property where Albert Einstein spent a lot of time in overlooking Palm Springs. *** Unfortunately, there was one issue that detracts at least 2 stars from our experience- A Hispanic-looking lady with wide build, black hair, and high pony tail with curls, who was part of the cleaning staff. Because we were communicated very different things the previous day to the day we checked out, we checked out of our room slightly later. We felt bad, but we tipped both the cleaning staff $20 and the evening crew $20. And because staff from the previous day told us that we can hang by the pool as long as we want after check out, we did so until about 2pm.
When I passed by the Hispanic cleaning lady, I said "hello" to her, and she didn't respond for a minute, and instead said "goodbye" to me, which I found odd. Later on my boyfriend went to ask for water from the staff, because they asked everyone else by the pool except for us.
When he came back, he said that the Hispanic lady didn't give him water, and told him that we need to leave; that when we check out, we have to leave the entire property.
In 12 years of staying at hotels around the world, I have never experienced this. All the policies are usually that we can stay on the property and/or leave our luggage the next day until a certain time.
The Hispanic lady was so rude to us and made us feel like intruders. I was looking forward to stay again at your property, but now I feel a bad energy about the place, even though we had mostly a great experience.

The Willows is an historic property built in 1924 and is not uniform like new construction. There is a fully accessible ADA room which innkeepers offered you, but you declined. We wish you would have spoken with an innkeeper during your stay about any specific requests. It seems like you had a lovely holiday. You and your friends reported enjoying your stay very much. We are surprised and distressed at your review.
