I was very impressed with my stay and plan to return.

A few small touches I loved:
-The tea brand provided in room- Art of Tea- is two steps up from what most hotels provide
- the room includes glass coffee (and espresso) cups (a huge bonus for me.. I hate paper cups unless it's for to go)
-Lola Rose had one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Intriguing ingredients perfectly balanced; I can't wait to come back and have another.
-valet retrieval was very easy

I'm not a roof top pool person (they are usually tiny and have no seating). But I enjoyed Thompson's. There were tons of loungers and seating areas, and the pool itself was larger than other roof top pools (and includes a hit tub).

Hyatt Globalists- I received an upgrade, but not a suite (I don't think they have many suites, so I wouldn't count on getting a suite). Breakfast and the amenity fee never even made it to my bill. The premium internet did initially post as a charge, but it was corrected with no questions.

Possible gripes some people will have:
-The bathroom lights are on sensors.
-the vanity was large enough for two sinks but only had one. Personally I loved this- it meant lots of counter space where things dont get drenched every time you use the sink!
-The balcony lights are on timers and are on all night.
-Service at Lola was very relaxed- it's not a quick bite kind of place.
-The hotel has a very unique lay out which makes it feels more residential.. I enjoyed it! But I can already see the neighsayers complaining about how confusing it is (they do have staff escort you to your room at check in if it's not in the core building).

My only actual complaint:
The website lists morning coffee and tea as a provision of the amenity fee. To me this means brewed coffee and a selection of tea set out in the lobby (or some other designated place). The hotel does not actually provide this; they provide in room coffee and tea.

We recently stayed at the Thompson Palm Springs and were thoroughly impressed with its tasteful design and upscale atmosphere.

This brand-new property is a fantastic addition to the Hyatt portfolio and offers a fresh, vibrant experience in the heart of Palm Springs.

Highlights
Rooms: Our family booked three rooms, and while we didn't receive any significant Globalist upgrades beyond balcony rooms, the accommodations were beautifully designed and well-appointed.

Food & Dining: The culinary program was outstanding, rivaling some of the best restaurants in Palm Springs. Breakfast was a particular highlight, with a wide variety of options, including brunch on the weekends, fully comped for Globalists. One dinner at the on-site restaurant left a lasting impression—highly recommend making a reservation as it’s a popular spot, though the staff kindly squeezed us in.

Dog-Friendly Perks: As dog lovers, we were thrilled with how welcoming the property was for pets. No pet fee, plus thoughtful touches like dog beds and bowls made the stay extra special. The staff—particularly Greg at the bell desk—went out of their way to ensure our furry companions felt at home.

Considerations
Noise: We were given rooms above the pool, which offered stunning views but came with significant noise from the music that played until 11 PM, even on weekdays. If you're sensitive to noise, I recommend requesting a quieter room facing the street or park.

Had the opportunity to try the new Thompson in Palm Springs during the first part of December. I am a local to the area and wanted have a place to watch the annual Christmas Parade put on the Palm Springs. I reserved our spot in September 2024 with the expectation that I would get a great view of the festivities.

The week before our stay I stopped in to make sure I would get a street view and of course the front desk could not "guarantee" a proper room but provided me assurances that I would be first priority. I asked to a resort Manager and they introduced me to Pavel E. He showed me around and provided additional assurance that he would do his best to accommodate our request. The morning of our stay he offered us one of the resort suites to consider. We took him up on his offer and he mentioned we could arrive at any time after mid-morning as the room had been empty the night before. We are a World of Hyatt Member so this was a great and appreciated offer. Once we arrived he provided amazing personal service showed us around the property and made sure we checked into our room flawlessly.

We had the chance to use the pool and try the food and were quite surprised at how reasonably priced and high quality the food ending up being. Our stay was filled with amazing service and great quality food and we could not say enough about Pavel and his teams efforts to make us feel like we were preferred guests. The location and amenities are fantastic and with Pavel E. there you cannot go wrong.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to visit the Palm Springs area and be centrally located.

My husband and I just stayed at the new Thompson in Palm Springs and have never had such a poor Hyatt experience. I’ll start with a few good things to say, which is why I’m even giving this hotel two stars. The hotel is in a great location, has a nice modern aesthetic, valet is included in your hotel room rate, the restaurant food is delicious, and the valet / car service (especially Amy and Robert) and restaurant staff (Jesse was an excellent server) offered superb service. Now on to the bad. The front desk staff seem inexperienced and unapologetic for any issues, we were told our room would be ready before 4 pm but waited well beyond 4 pm to get our room, and our luggage was delivered to the wrong room with no updates of their whereabouts. While our room was an “upgraded” king, it overlooked the Main Street and the noise was unbearable, which we were not warned about during check in. We could hear every car and person outside so the windows are definitely not sound proof. We barely slept the first night and called the front desk to get switched over to another room on day 2. After no response, we went to the front desk and they agreed to move us to a quieter room but unfortunately once we moved it was apparent the room was a total downgrade. Further, there was no hot water in the showers and there was a weird sewage type smell in both rooms. We reported all of this to the manager, and while she did offer a discount on one night of our two night stay, the headaches we experienced were not compensated for. We were also guaranteed a late check out, but that too was overlooked, forcing us to rush out. Needless to say we will not be returning and are really disappointed in the stressful experience, especially for the price we paid.

For the most part we had a really good stay. We love that this hotel is finally open, and in a great location. Half of the resort was still under construction; there’s one pool open right—great vibe, plenty of seats, good hot tub and fire pits—and very easy to forget that you’re in the middle of Palm Springs and not in a rural escape. While not exactly the colorful aesthetic you’d expect in Palm Springs, we did really enjoy the design overall. Service was excellent and our breakfasts and dinner at the restaurant, Lola Rose, were very good.

We did have some big issues though, which impacted how much we could enjoy our stay. First, LOUD construction started early each morning, 8am on Friday and 9am on the weekends. Loud enough to where we couldn’t stay in our room—and I expect this will continue for some months as they fill the retail spaces below. I wish we had been warned. Also, we had a view room with balcony, and the sliding doors offered virtually no sound proofing from the street noise below. It was like sleeping with a window open—you could easily hear cars driving by and pedestrians talking on the sidewalk. (I’m accustomed to street noise at home, and this was pretty bad… a pretty big oversight in construction.) The curtains also don’t touch the floor, so they aren’t blackout curtains… another pretty unfortunate oversight. Last, housekeeping was ok overall, but they kept replenishing our coffee with decaf, and didn’t replenish our tea at all during our 3 night stay, so by our last morning we had no coffee or tea (and there isn’t any provided in the lobby). So, not a lot of good sleep, and not enough caffeine to compensate.

Interestingly, this hotel is actually owned by Hall winery, which has a tasting room adjacent to the lobby. I think it would have been nice to see a little crossover. The resort fee advertises a welcome beverage, which we didn’t receive (and I never saw offered to any new guests the many times I walked through the lobby)—so maybe a welcome taste of wine would be a good place to start.

Hi Eric, Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review of your stay. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the design, location, and the overall service, as well as your dining experiences at Lola Rose. We love the pool and firepits, too. That said, I truly appreciate you flagging the challenges you faced. I understand how disruptive the construction noise must have been. We are working with the crews to limit noise during early and late times. Your feedback about soundproofing, blackout curtains, and housekeeping replenishments is also incredibly valuable, and I’ll be sharing these points with our team to see how we can improve in these areas. You are right about the resort fee’s welcome beverage. We’ve been deliberating on what that should be and it’s time to commit. Your idea of incorporating a HALL Wine tasting is a great one that I’ll share with our team. We’re grateful for your support and hope to welcome you back for a more seamless stay in the future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can assist with. Pavel Efremov Director of Rooms

Great design, planning and curated art collection, as I would expect from a hotel developed by Craig and Kathryn Hall. We like the upmarket feel of the hotel as well as the location in the downtown/arts neighborhood. Great restaurants and eclectic shops within walking distance of hotel. Rooms are "comfortably contemporary" and bathrooms are great - plentiful quality towels, good lighting, counter space. Loved the Sferra linen bedding! Public areas are well planned, bar and restaurants were fashionable and BUSY! We look forward to our next visit!

Thompson Hotel Palm Springs (Hyatt) - Contemporary and beautifully appointed.

My wife is a Hyatt globalist and I am a Lifetime globalist and we have stayed at over 30 Hyatts in Asia, Europe and USA. This hotel is a large Andaz hotel on steroids. The public areas in the hotel are large bright and welcoming. A very positive liberating feeling of openness and light. Would I stay here again? absolutely. We heard about the hotel from a Maui Hawaii Hyatt employee who had stayed here a few weeks before and he strongly recommended it. Last time he recommended the Park Hyatt Vienna, we stayed and loved the historical elegance.

We decided to try The Thompson PS for 3 nights on our way to the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells. We loved EVERYTHING about it! The property, artwork, food and staff exceeded our expectations. Staff are exceedingly friendly, fun, accommodating and professional. Cuisine is at a high level & creative. Location is excellent and convenient.....on the strip of downtown PS and yet, quiet. The main bright restaurant and lounge area have become an" in" spot. The outdoor pool and patio are inviting and "spa" like.

We walked 10 minutes to the PS Museum (free after 5 pm every Thursday). There is a street fair on Thursdays as well. A friend said he preferred the art work and decor at the Thompson hotel over some of the museum's artwork. As the "up and coming" Thompson Italian restaurant is not opened, we went directly across the street to a no frills small Italian restaurant called Riccio's. It gave me a positive feeling of being in a small family Italian authentic restaurant. The entire staff as well as, Danny the owner are friendly and accommodating and willing to chat. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. It you want to be in "seen and be seen" restaurants that are crowded and noisy, there are many walkable choices on the downtown PS strip.

I stayed at the Thompson Palm Springs for four nights over the recent holiday weekend, and unfortunately, my experience was far from ideal.
- Restaurant Staff: The restaurant team were the highlight of my stay. Their friendly service and attention to detail made breakfast enjoyable, which is the main reason I’m giving this review 2 stars instead of 1.
- Courtyard Condition: There was noticeable debris in the prison-like courtyard area of our room. We unfortunately didn’t utilize the space because it was unwelcoming.
- Shower Issues: The shower frequently flooded into the bathroom during my stay, and it was never properly fixed. The broken shower handle made it impossible to control water temperature effectively.
- Room Change Experience: When I asked to change rooms, the offered replacement was in an unfinished portion of the hotel. I opted to stay in my original room, which was less than ideal.
- Housekeeping Problems: Despite requesting housekeeping, I had to call each day because the service was marked as "completed" when it wasn’t.
- Broken and Scratched Fixtures: Despite being a new hotel, the room had a broken shower handle and a scratched door frame, which was disappointing.
- Noise Issues: The slamming of doors to the service entrance of the restaurant was disturbing, especially early in the morning. The noise was constant and disruptive as the door was right next to our patio.
-Turndown Service: On the last day of my stay, I was offered turndown service. It's frustrating that this wasn’t provided earlier, given the length of my stay.

Overall, while the Thompson has an unbeatable location and beautiful design, the hotel's condition and lack of attention to detail was noticeable from a customer service perspective. The stay felt more like a visit to a Hyatt Place than a Thompson.

Thompson Palm Springs is deceitful, passed on a " bait and switch" attempt to extract a higher revenue for the room
On March 24, 2024, I made a reservation for November 2, 2024,directly with hyatt.com for a corner Alejo Suite with balcony overlooking South Palm Canyon and Alejo at the rate of $625.34 per night including taxes, and resort fees.
On October 26, 2024, I received a confirmation of my upcoming reservations but the rate is now $1250.88 per night.
I called Thompson Palm Springs directly and confirmed of my rate of $625.34 for the Alejo Suite. A confirmation was sent to me with the old rate.
Today, upon check-in at 4:05 PM, I was told the Alejo Suite with balcony is not available, and I was "upgraded" to a different suite. Basically, it was a room in which the view from the balcony to street was completely blocked by the pool.
After preview of the room, I declined the "upgrade" and was told I was "out of luck" as the room is occupied. There is nothing else Thompson Palm Springs can do. At time of check-in, and as a preferred level member, I asked for a 2:00 PM check out that resulted in a response of "we are fully booked."
I think Thompson sold the room at a higher rate then tried to substitute a room that was not even acceptable. I maintained my composure. I did not raise my voice. I remained cool and calm. Absolutely no apologies from Thompson front desk nor any attempt to diffuse the situation. I walked away.

Having lived in Palm Springs for many years and watched this new property finally get finished my wife and I thought we would book in and stay the night of New Years Eve. We only live a mile away and we could avoid driving around looking for all the fun and action. Check in was easy and very welcoming .Room was ready on time and well laid out . We joined the very entertaining bar crowd before getting into our " dress up party outfits" .We booked dinner for 9pm and got seated near on time .We never expect good food on New Years Eve due to volume but this was excellent. Plus regular pricing that we never expect on this celebration night .DJ music lifted the atmosphere to fun party mode. We are so happy this hotel is online in our Palm Springs. Owning a well known business in town it is nice to know our standard of hospitality is making our town look good.
