Detailed Reviews
Check in began at 4 pm, but the office closed at 5:00. We had received no check in instructions, so when we arrived at 6 pm we were surprised to find the office closed, the area dark. We found directions to go around the building (in the dark) to a lock box with a phone nearby. We were to use the phone to call the posted phone number to obtain the code for the lockbox to get our keys. The person who answered the phone seemed surprised that we were calling and had trouble giving us the code. When we were finally able to open the lockbox, many envelopes with keys were inside. It didn’t seem like a very secure way to distribute keys.
We opened the door to a very dirty and stale smelling unit. The air was off and the lighting - when we turned it on - was very dim. The unit had one window and two sliding doors, but none had screens. We spent our first evening of vacation cleaning enough to make it habitable. The dank smell lingered throughout the week and cooking smells added to the odor. In addition to being dirty the unit was dated and in need of repairs and updating. Among the concerns was paint peeling from the wall onto the floor of the children’s room and food that had been left under the bed.
Check out was also odd. When we tried to drop off just before 9:00, the gate to the dropbox area was padlocked. This is not a place we would recommend.

Staff was always friendly and calls for more supplies [soap, coffee filters, etc.] were answered very quickly! The units are clean and quiet. A couple of comments: no elevator so be advised, knives [as we've found at most resorts] are so-so [if driving, I would bring my own], small balcony, tiny shower, ceiling fan and TV only one of the bedrooms, no USB ports in sight, lighting was a bit dim.
Both the couch and the arm chair were very comfortable. It was too cool when we were there, but the pool looked nice with a spa available. Parking was never an issue and signage was great. Plenty of dishes, glasses, pot, and pans. We liked the location a lot, just north of downtown Palm Springs and only about 30 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park.
We would return.

You will need a car since the area doesn't seem to have much activity. The pool is small and does not include any food or beverage service, but you can bring what you want from your room. . We traveled with another couple and the 2-bedroom was enough room for privacy. The unit had a full kitchen which we used for some meals to save money. It was a quiet place with friendly people. Parking is free.

We stayed here in August 2021 and were shocked this was rated a Silver Star on RCI. The place is old, the furnishings are old and the villa had a stale odor to it. When you the slider or walk to the villa you will see cigarette butts all over. The pool is very small with a small front office in front that is not open 24/7 so if you need anything after a certain time or something does not work in the villa forget getting any help. Advertised a gym which is literally down the street roughly a mile and this is not a well lit area so we did not feel like going to check it out. There is a small laundry room and you better have change because it is not free like at many resorts we stay at. Also we were overcharged I have since learned by RCI for the fees (spoke to my main resort ownership) and the place charged us a $35 dollar cleaning fee since we did not book for 7 days. Would not recommend. I would say if this is listed as a Silver Star resort on RCI I wonder how the places are they list with no star ranking. Disappointed.

We searched RCI for a 2 BR resort back in September 2021 and this resort became available in October, so we confirmed the booking. We knew from other reviews what to expect so we were disappointed with the unit in ways that one shouldn't have an issue with.
First the PROS: Not too large so crowds minimum and never had an issue with noise or crowds at the pool. Unit was large, with a nice size living room and an okay kitchen with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Staff (housekeeping and office) were very friendly and helpful. When we asked for fresh towels, we received them quickly.
CONS: Both beds horrible! Like sleeping on concrete slabs. Both bedrooms lacking drawers to store clothing (closet was tiny in master bedroom); storage shelves in hallway. Bathrooms was extremely tiny. This is a timeshare resort, not a cruise cabin.

We hear the resort is fine from our daughter and son-in-law. When we tried to book 2 units through legacyluxuryrentals@gmail.com we had terrible service and ended up booking elsewhere. They offered us a 3BR and a 2BR. When I went to book and pay only the 3BR was actually available.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay at Desert Vacation Villas. It is a short drive to downtown Palm Springs and conveniently located to a grocery store and restaurants, shops yet in a quiet location. It is about a 30' drive to the Living Desert Zoo and about 15' drive to Indian Canyons which I highly recommend if you enjoy hiking.
We had an upstairs 2-bdrm, 2 bath unit w/ a full kitchen. Decor and furniture can use some updating but it was a comfortable stay. There is a pull-out queen sized sofa, towels and dishes for 6 people. It can get a little noisy by the pool since it is open early and close at 11 pm.

The property is older and it does show signs of wear. It could use a bit of an upgrade but the space was large, comfortable with a full kitchen. It was quiet and the staff was great! We loved the location as it was easy to get to the places we like to visit.

Convenient to aerial tram, golf, hiking, etc. Unit was spacious, pool and hottub were much appreciated by the grand kids. Arrived after office hours, but the staff made it easy to retrieve unit keys via a lock box.

This condo is in the Movie Colony area and is close to everything. The couch needs replacing and the other furniture could use updating. The bed in the guest room is uncomfortable. The unit itself is spacious but there is no laundry room in the condo. There is a patio and it is pleasant to sit out there on a nice breezy day. Our key cards would not work and we were given one manual key to gain entrance but is was difficult to use because the key kept getting stuck in the lock. We were told a service order was placed to replace the lock. We called in several maintenance issues for the unit on things needing repair or replacement. The kitchen was lacking in utensils and dishware. Otherwise, the appliances in the kitchen were working properly. There is a pool but we did not use it so I cannot comment. This is a great area for walking. The unit we were in was 103 bottom unit handicapped with handicapped parking right out front. The noise from the upstairs unit was extremely loud so I would not book a downstairs unit unless you had to.

Desert Vacation Villas does not have a shuttle service from the airport. The best option is to take a taxi which are usually available.
Thank you for inquiring about Desert Vacation Villas. There are some units that have a mountain view as well as others that have a view of the pool.
The property does not have elevators. There are about 12 stairs needed to get to the villas on the second floor.
I don't remember what times are for checking in and out, but we were able to use the pool for the day after we checked out. The only problem with that is that there are now showers near the pool, so you would have to wash up as best you can in the bathroom.
