The Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel stands out for its cleanliness and comfortable, aesthetically pleasing rooms, as highlighted by guests. While its location is a draw, nestled close to the heart of old Palm Springs, the value proposition has been questioned by many guests who feel the pricing doesn't always match the luxury experience anticipated. Service at the hotel is well-regarded, with a friendly staff, though some venues may experience delays. The modern amenities, including the rooftop pool, are popular, despite some noted limitations.

We stayed one night at this hotel on the way to Joshua Tree NP, but wished it could have been longer! The hotel has a nice updated mid-century modern inspired style that looks great but also isn't trying too hard. The hotel was spotless and our room was very comfortable (the bed and pillows were great), with nice high ceilings and plenty of space to move around, store things, etc. Towels were nice and fluffy but the provided robes were a bit threadbare with some small holes. Staff throughout the property was very friendly and the pool area is absolutely gorgeous, overlooking beautiful mountains on both sides (and downtown on one), with lots of comfortable and nice looking lounge chairs, a poolside bar, complementary Sun Bum sunscreen, ice water, etc. The restaurants in the hotel come highly recommended but we didn't get a chance to try them. The biggest con is the $40/day resort fee, although this does at least include free valet parking.

This was my first trip to Palm Springs and did not know what to expect. Due to current global conditions, my husband and I felt traveling by car for our anniversary would be the best thing to do. Arriving to the hotel was lovely. There was free public parking across the street, but also valet on the premises, if desired. Helpful and friendly staff greeted us at the door and the gentleman at the front desk did not hesitate to check us in two hours before official check in was to start. The hotel smelled of bleach, which for me was VERY comforting owning to the current events. They also offered masks and hand sanitizer at the entrance for anyone who needed it. The pool was on the rooftop, which was very unique. The staff was very busy but we were never made to feel like a burden when asking for a drink. At 4PM, the hotel’s first floor restaurant offered a free wine tasting and they also provide you with coupons for one free coffee and one free drink while staying with them. They also offered free bike rentals.
Arriving to the room, we were blown away by our beautiful room. It was the corner room and we had floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed for a panoramic view of the mountains. The bathroom was jaw-dropping. A beautiful soaking tub that also encased a shower with a glass window to allow you to admire the view from your bath.
The location of the hotel was exceptional. Right in downtown! We were surrounded by options for dinning and light shopping.
I thought I’d have to compromise due to many restrictions when traveling but this hotel made our stay one of the most comfortable regardless of everything. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and it was the perfect respite after spending the pelrevious couple of days hiking around Joshua Tree NP. The hotel is centrally located and we were easily able to walk to all of the restaurants and shops we wanted to go to. If you do need to venture out a bit further, the hotel valet is included in the rate and they do a great job!

The standout feature of the hotel for us was definitely the rooftop pool and bar. The water temperature was comfortable and a great relief from the heat. Service was also very good at the pool and the drinks and snacks were fantastic. I noticed a few reviews complaining about the cost of water from the in-room mini bar and just wanted to point out that there is a free water bottle refill station by the pool.

The room itself was somewhat of a mixed bag. We booked a suite with a spa bath and the room was gorgeous and well appointed. I was pleasantly surprised to see a built in acoustic control (white noise generator) that let you adjust the ambiance with the spin of a dial. I normally use a white noise app with a Bluetooth speaker when I travel, so it was really cool to see this feature built into the room. The room was also incredibly well soundproofed. We were on the 3rd floor and near a busy street, but when the patio door was closed the room was near silent and we felt a world away from the revelry outside.

Now for the not so good. I requested a high floor because I was hoping for a view and unfortunately, the room I got was on the 3rd floor and basically looked across a vacant lot and onto the side of another building. This was somewhat disappointing given the price of the room and the great mountain and city view photos I've seen taken from other rooms. The second issue with the room had to do with maintenance. The room was clean overall, but there were a couple things that needed some attention. First off. There was mold in the grout around the tub and a somewhat moldy smell in the shower. The toilet was also stained (i suspect maybe from hard water) but nonetheless, somewhat unsightly for a premium suite. The drains in both the tub and toilet also made very odd gurgling and ticking noises, sometimes at random without even being flushed/drained. The bathroom was beautifully finished, but overall I think it just needed some attention from the maintenance staff.

Despite this, we had a great stay and we were impressed by the staff, from the valet guys sprinting in the heat to retrieve cars, to the front desk and pool/bar staff, everyone made us feel well accommodated. I would definitely stay here again, but if I were given the same room I would probably request a different one. Given that this was a short trip and we spent most of our time around town and at the pool, I didn't feel moving was worth the hassle. Would recommend overall!

We've been wanting to stay at Kimpton Rowan PS for a while and finally pulled the trigger. What a disappointment!

The gentlemen that checked us in was very polite, but neglected to tell us about hotel amenities and a few things that we later came across (wifi PW & cocktail hour). Then as we we walked in our room, we had to call downstairs to change rooms. The floor was dirty (had spots of dark, sticky stuff near shower and inside bathroom). It had obviously not been mopped. In our new room the sheets had what felt like sand in them - which ended up being, what we assumed, granular detergent. The layout of the bathroom was a huge disappointment for the price point. There is no separate water closet and the bathroom is extremely small. There is also minimal counter space. In the pool area we noticed that it took employees several hours for towels, glasses and plates to be picked up after people had left. The music on Sunday was terrible. I'm open to all kinds of music, but when you need to bleep out half the lyrics of a song, there is an issue. I don't people at the pool to should have to listen to songs about a P*ssy A** B*tch. Even though some of the words were bleeped out, the content was extremely vulgar. We mentioned this to our server and they agreed. I would expect a hotel to be conscious of the type of music they are playing. The ghetto music completely killed the vibes in such a beautiful setting.

With that said, the lobby was nice, employees were pleasant, location is great and parking was a breeze. Rachel (employee at pool on Saturday) was awesome and and totally took care of us.

Unfortunately, we don't plan on returning. The service, cleanliness and room layout did not warrant the amount we spent over the weekend. We are still looking for our "go to" resort in PS.

**Couple of side notes that didn't help the experience.
The street sweeper truck comes by at 5:30 each morning. You can hear this with windows closed on the 4th floor.
Also, the fan in the room does not stay on. It clicks off an on, on all settings.

I can't believe these 4/5 star reviews and I fell in the same trap reading them and booked at this hotel. First off, $40 resort fee for a hotel that is not a resort by any stretch of imagination is ridiculous! They have this tiny pool with messy area! Also the room felt like $100/$150 a night when they charged us almost $400. When we booked over the phone we reserved for a room and breakfast package but upon arrival they mentioned breakfast won't be included and they charged us additionally for that too. Poor communication, average service and quality overall. Don't recommend.

PROS: Great location, walking distance to eateries&sights. All pool staff were exceptional, so friendly, professional &helpful!High bar was fun day& night, kept tidy &serviced well. The room staff was helpful, friendly& kept the room immaculate. The complimentary airport shuttle was nice, with a friendly driver, but you have to know about it &request it. Loved the restaurant &staff for breakfast too! Complimentary wine hour was lovely in the nice lobby. Deluxe King rm was spacious w comfy beds, tons of USB/outlets! Check in was smooth & the text messages were a nice touch...until we actually needed help...
CONS: Hotel front desk &concierge were no help. Normally, they're go-tos for ideas for things to do, restaurants, etc. When we needed help from them, it was like pulling teeth.I replied to a check in text that the robes had holes in them.Rather than immediate replacement, they asked if I was alright keeping them.I felt like . BTW the robes are NOT "plush," as advertised- they're thin jersey knit. We asked for ideas because our time was limited& the concierge began with "are you guests of the hotel?"Do people normally walk in off the street asking for things to do?So terribly offensive. Racial bias is the only thing that made sense. We asked about the aerial tram& he didn't think to warn us that Uber&cab return would be impossible because of its remote location! We paid extra for a driver to agree to pick us up&he said it's a known issue! It makes sense when you realize how far it actually is to get to it. Asked for help w cab transport for 6am flight &took 2tries to make it happen. No comp water or coffee maker in the room. There are 2 bottles in the room, with no note that they cost, and there are free bottles if you ask for them (odd). Ask for a room that doesn't overlook neighboring rooftops. A city or mountain view would make all the difference. The last two days needing, but not getting help from the front desk reduced our rating. We loved all the other staff and the hotel location and aesthetic.

The Rowan is an incredibly stylish hotel with comfortable, spacious guest rooms and inviting public spaces. The High Bar helped us celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday and the staff made it a memorable evening with delicious food and drinks. A special shout out to the Parking Valet staff who got us to and from the airport quickly and shared great restaurant recommendations that were spot on. This is an outstanding amenity. And Yokli Oktavianto, Front Office Supervisor, was so helpful in providing us a room with a mountain view, in addition to answering my many questions always with a smile!

Disappointing stay. Stayed on Jan 18 to Jan 20, 2020 and the rooms were $500+ each day. However, it did not feel like that at all.
Pros:
1. Free coffee in the morning before 9AM.
2. The hotel helped me get some bandaids when I had a scratch

Cons:
1. Free coffee ends too early in my opinion and the hotel just seems cheap to not offer coffee a little bit later so they can sell them for $4 a cup at their own cafe.
2. There is no free breakfast for IHG Spire Elites (highest in IHG Elite levels)
3. The room that I got on the 2nd floor facing the Palm Spring Babies' road was VERY noisy. It had street traffic noise most of the day.
4. The room I got was also above a cycling studio and every time there is a class going on. I get free noisy music in the room.
5. No coffee brewer in the room
6. Rooftop pool was a joke. I didn't see anyone in the tiny pool during my stay (it was very cold) and the view is just okay.

Worst of all is that I wrote to the hotel about the problems after the trip but never got a response. Due to too many issues and the expensive price, I would not recommend this property if you are in Palm Springs. There are quite a few other major hotel chains in this area and I will look into those next time. I have paid hundreds of dollars per night before for hotel stays but the value just isn't here at all for Kimpton Rowan.

Nice, clean modern rooms and very friendly staff. I stayed at this property during a business trip to Palm Springs and had a very comfortable stay. The bathroom was stocked with bathrobes, plenty of towels and toiletries. The bed was super comfy. I ordered room service one night and the JT Burger was very tasty and came within 15 mins of placing the order. One minor thing is that the rooms are not super well insulated sound wise so it can be bit noisy, however, I did find a white noise machine in my room, though I didn't notice much of a difference when turned on. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Palm Springs and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. If I am in the area again I would definitely stay at the Kimpton again. Thanks for a great stay!

The staff was wonderful - friendly, helpful and kind.

This hotel is well appointed. The common areas and guest rooms are spacious and well maintained.

I brought my fur baby and was able to access every area of the hotel without issues.

During this challenging time (C19 pandemic) everyone wore masks and hand sanitizer was found on every floor and as you enter the lobby. Disposable masks and gloves were readily available if needed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We were there last month. The pool was open at that time. I did not wear a mask in the pool but I did keep a distance from other guests. We ordered room service and received our meal in a paper bag - it was not on a tray - they delivered it but did not enter the room. It was delicious. At the time of our visit we did not make use of the bar however we were informed that there is a period of time when wine is service. You can easily walk down the main strip - you might discover a nearby ice cream shop that is popular.

The pool is free for hotel guests. There is a fee to use the cabanas. Not sure about the pool sun times in March but I can tell you that there was not much shade to be found anywhere around the pool in the mid day sun when I was there in October. It was very hot and hard to escape being in the sun which is why I left quickly to have lunch elsewhere.
