Set at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains, Villa Royale is a 3.5-acre free-spirited, adults-only hideaway amidst the desert palms of the Coachella Valley. A secluded stomping ground reimagined where Spanish influence and architectural nuances of the Post-War period stand side-by-side with modern design appeal for which Palm Springs is known today. Within the Mission Revival Style villas and geometric tiled courtyards, Villa Royale channels the eccentric history of the destination and mesmerism of the landscape that has long lured wild, free-thinking and creative spirits to the Southern California desert. Studded with flowering desert flora and imbued with mid century decor and vintage furnishings, Villa Royale beckons travelers to the desert for raw beauty and escape. The hotel is comprised of two spaces; the main complex houses 31 of Villa Royale’s 38 villa rooms. Across South Indian Trail Road sits Villa Rosa with seven California ranch style villas that mirror the design cues and playful vibe of Villa Royale, offering travelers an even more intimate, secluded oasis.

Villa Royale enchants guests with its stylish fusion of old Hollywood and modern flair, creating a unique and eclectic atmosphere that earns rave reviews. The hotel's luxurious pools and complimentary breakfast are among the amenities that travelers frequently laud, alongside the top-notch service provided by friendly staff. Guests consider the hotel to offer superb value, thanks to its chic yet unpretentious dining options and affordable rates.
While the rooms' stylish decor and amenities are popular, some guests have noted noise concerns and a lack of desks. Cleanliness is another strong suit, with the pristine condition of the pools and rooms often highlighted.

This is my second stay at the hotel or villas. Last year in February and this year early March. I came with my daughter and we stayed in rooms across the street at the villa Rosa section from the main villa royal. We loved our rooms and every room is different but the same style and comfort. I had a one bedroom and my daughter a studio type. We booked last July before the villa Rosa was even opened. We received very good rates for our five night stay. We arrived on Sunday and left on Friday avoiding the weekend surcharges. We had the 7 unit complex completely to ourselves. The rooms surround a lovely large pool and 8 fabulous lounge chairs. You can get food and beverage service from the phone in the lounge area, fresh towels and water as well. We love the quiet, bird song and friendly staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable furnishings. The staff is very helpful and available at all times. The poo was serviced twice a day at least kept very clean of debris from the palms etc. the weather was 70-85 and cool at night. Perfect a/c or heating if needed.

My partner and I stayed here 10/23-10/25 . Front desk staff were super friendly, gave us the key to our room and our complimentary welcome drink . We stayed in room 17 by the main pool. The room
Was spacious and clean . Pool
Service was great as well. They always had people walking around and asking if anyone wanted drinks or food . Everyone staying at the hotel and staff was wearing face masks which made us feel comfortable. The grounds are very nice and well kept and they were cleaning the pool and cleaning everything . We had dinner at their restaurant and was very good as well . We also took advantage of their bikes and rode around the neighborhood. They have the most comfortable beds and sheets . I also requested ear plugs at night but not because it was loud but my partner snores and I forgot to bring mine and so we called and they had some . I was so happy for my ear plugs . Sunday our check out date came and we left . We already were planning our next trip here ... and before you know it .. we were displaced by the Silverado fire and we said hey why not come back again so we came back again 10/27-10/29. We got a larger room (room 2) with fireplace and back patio . We received the same service and of course I spent about $150 on drinks the first day because what else can you do when there is a pandemic and fires going on . Staff was again very pleasant offering food and drinks . The entire property was kept very clean and the grounds again very well maintained . We used the fireplace at night since it did get a bit chilly for my standards at least (anything below 70 ). I was able to connect to wifi and work with no problem . We will be back again . Thank you for giving us amazing service .

One of my new favorite getaway spots from LA, with considerable COVID safety measures that made me feel safe and offers plenty of room to socially distance while still enjoying the facilities of the spacious grounds, including 2 pools. There’s also a third pool that’s private to one of the rooms. The staff was kind and offers you a welcome shot upon check-in.
The hotel’s intimate, relaxed atmosphere (being a 21+ establishment definitely helps) is a refreshing change of pace from Palm Springs’ larger, more hustle and bustle hotels.
The Pool Bar (great drinks menu) and restaurant on site, Del Rey, offer good food at a decent price (relative to hotel restaurant prices, I consider $17 for a burger to be fair), so I ended up having 2 of my 3 meals there + the complimentary breakfast that the hotel provides. And if you do want to go out to grab a meal, the hotel is within a few min driving of the main drag but just far enough away to feel secluded.
The only thing I’d do differently next time is book a larger room, as their most basic offering is quite small, especially for 2 people. Not really an issue though if you plan to mostly be out and about.
Looking forward to coming back here for many more visits!

Trying to find normalcy in a pandemic is challenging, but we visited Villa Royale for our wedding anniversary. We expected masks and distancing and appreciated the way the hotel and the staff handled this. Everyone was considerate and observing precautions, but no one was aggressive about it. We had the sense we were all in this together and we all respected those guidelines. We were able to take our masks off by the pool when alone, and respectfully put them on when servers approached. The same with dinner (which was very tasty...but the menu was limited for my tastes). The rooms were simple and clean and I loved the notion of staying where Hollywood royalty once stayed. Such adorable styling and branding throughout the hotel, if it isn't broken - don't fix it.
I'm sure that during a pandemic it's hard to offer the same level of service as normal, but we were still very pleased. Can't wait to go back when things are fully open and we've gotten to the other side of COVID-19!

This is a sympathetically restored 1930s compound some way away from the centre of PS, that apparently once belonged to Sonja Henie. Featuring mid-century furniture and black and white decor it has been sympathetically restored. Rooms are very small and positioned around one of the two small swimming pools or a courtyard with a small fountain.
However apart from the appearance this hotel has quite a lot to improve. Firstly, WiFi was really spotty, constantly dropping. In early February when the morning temperatures didn't really rise above 10 degrees there was nowhere indoors to eat the rather sparse breakfast. Guests huddled around a small gas fireplace in the breakfast area or fought for a seat by another firepit. Breakfast consisted of coffee in vacuum flasks, some croissants and hot buns or some plastic containers of yogurt and muesli. A small bowl of fruit predominantly melon chunks was also provided.
The rooms were very basic. Sheets were not ironed, the pillowcases were frayed and the bed linen wasn’t changed for the full 5 days of our stay. We were asked to text every morning if we wanted the room serviced but still the coffee and drinking water wasn't replenished, the coffee jug wasn’t washed out, the paper cups weren’t replaced.
We had dinner in house on our first evening. The food is very good but again most of the seats were outside albeit under heaters. As others have mentioned, the nice bar/ restaurant area inside was so dark, only lit by candles, that it would have been impossible to see what we were eating.
Staff were process driven and not particularly friendly, helpful or knowledgeable. And this for over $500 a night at weekends!

It wasn’t what I expected, but it was quaint and had a huge area where the dog could run. Yes, it was very hot, and Omar took care of us the entire time. He brought water bowl full of water and ice for our dog, helped us around the facility and was super sweet. The blonde caretaker man was friendly and doing misc stuff around the property. He was very respectful and never once looked at us when we were sunbathing. Very polite and respectful.
The rooms were wonderful. No tv in our bedroom, only in another small room with some comfy chairs. It helped us stay in the moment. We don’t need to when we are on vacation.
It was so nice to open your door and go straight into the pool. (Not all rooms are like this). If you needed something from your room you only had to walk a few feet to get back to your room.
We didn’t order much at the pool because I felt so bad the employees had to walk so far. Wish we would have utilized this more.
We stayed in the area with the second pool.
Highly recommend if you are looking for some peace and quite.

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend. If you are into the old school Palm Springs Classic Hollywood Getaway vibe, this is it. The staff are friendly and attentive.
When you arrive, you are offered a welcome cocktail. The room was comfortable and the TV has an Apple Play so you can connect your phone to stream your shows on their TV. They have lunch and dinner room service too. The menu is not in the room but they will text it to you once you arrive. You can also ask for one to keep in your room. You can easily place your order through their text messaging system.
The main pool is chilled and the pools are cleaned daily. The onsite restaurant, Del Rey, does the room service and the food is great! We had lunch (poolside nd in the room) and dinner and the food was delicious. The sandwiches come with potato chips that were made fresh that day.
The Del Rey restaurant opens its doors for dine-in dinner and I recommend you get a reservation. We got there early but as the evening progressed, it got busy. The menu items here also do not disappoint. It has a speakeasy vibe so when you walk in you entered a curtain area and a hostess will come over and greet you in.
They offer a continental breakfast every morning (it is included in your stay). I think coffee was available at 6:30 AM (which was great because we are early risers) and they put out pastries, a yogurt bar, and hard-boiled eggs, juice, and mimosas at 8:00 AM. If you get up earlier than 6:30 AM (or are an espresso drinker), there is a Nespresso machine in the room. They provide the pods, cups, sugar, and little creamers. Tea is also in the room as well as at the continental breakfast. If you are starving at 6:00 AM, there is a nearby diner that serves breakfast early and it's within walking distance. In the evening, they have cookies for the guests to snack on.
The Villa Rosa side offers a quieter stay. It is across a quiet street from their main site and they still have room service out there.
Overall it was a great stay!

I’m almost afraid to get the word out on what a pleasant property this is to stay at. First of all it is boutique in the true sense. Second the property has been tastefully restored. Third you can tell management and the employees are invested in making each guests stay a special experience.

From the instant you step foot on the grounds, the Villa Royale welcomes you into a relaxing oasis of palm trees and chill music and relaxing mist. With the rooms of this boutique resort positioned around a pair of swimming pools, the Villa Royale invites you to relax in the glorious dry desert heat and cool off in perfectly temperate water. The vibe on the grounds is a blend of hip, friendly and relaxing. Images of classic cinematic celebrities adorn the tiled walls of the resort, but the feeling of the place is anything but Hollywood. Instead, it's a haven of relaxation. The rooms are clean and spacious but the main allure of this charming establishment are its inviting pool areas, glorious spaces for allowing your stress to evaporate in the crisp desert air.
