Lighthouse Hotel's restaurant and stunning ocean views come highly recommended, with guests often lauding its beachfront location. While the hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, particularly for the spotless facilities, some visitors point out the need for updating carpets and fixtures. Although opinions on the value and service vary—some citing the beautiful setting as worth the cost and others mentioning unprofessional staff—guests agree that the atmosphere could benefit from a revamp to match the lively dining experience and the well-kept rooms.

Property is really nice with a beautiful ocean front view. Rooms are nice. Onsite Restaurant have high quality food for reasonable price with beautiful view of the ocean all day/evening. Fast food restaurants and stores are just a few miles up the street. Beware, check-in Mgr is a bit cranky/lacking in Customer Service.

Hotel was clean and we got the room with a view which was beautiful! The restaurant was directly in front of us so that was kinda unfortunate but still a beautiful view on both sides looking out! We didn’t run the air conditioning but opted to leave the slider open and just keep the screen shut. The sound of the ocean was better than any sound machine and the cool ocean breeze was amazing! Best nights sleep!! I would definitely recommend staying here! We had a slight view of Morro Rock as well! We are in the restaurant which was pricey but had an amazing view and the ocean crashing against the rocks created a spray the was nice to watch while we ate! Food was decent but we didn’t think it was anything too great! Maybe other dishes were better? No sure!

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in the Junior Suite, 3rd floor, absolutely stunning views of the ocean and little beach, sunsets, cliff walks. The rooms were huge with lots of light and constant sound of crashing waves. We had beautiful clear weather, cold but no fog.

The hotel is very rundown and shabby. It needs new carpeting throughout, (our room carpet was very stained). Beds are comfy, very clean. Room had not been thoroughly dusted, you could swipe a finger along a chair rail and it was loaded with dust. Not OK in a pandemic or any time. The bathrooms were clean, also need updating, and the toiletries provided are horribly perfumed. My room had a really strong smell-turned out it was an air freshener that was hidden above the frig. I put it out of the room. The windows have not been cleaned in a long time.

Rooms have TV, frig and coffee maker but no microwave or hair dryer.

The pool was closed (pandemic). The Moonraker restaurant was open for indoor dining but we got takeout. Good food. The restaurant itself was too crowded for us - it didn’t seem like 25% capacity and lots of maskless people even when not eating.

Door dash delivers here if you want, which is great.

The location is so fantastic that I would stay here again, but it’s a shame that Wyndham cant afford to redecorate.

The reception staff were very sweet and helpful. Rooms are not cleaned during your stay due to the pandemic but you can get extra linen, coffee etc.

I cannot say enough positive things about this facility...the staff is absolutely PHENOMENAL...the facilities are spotless...and you cannot be closer to the beach unless you are sleeping on the sand! Jane and Emily were especially accommodating in allowing myself and my boyfriend to check-in early, and upgrade our room from a "partial" ocean view to a "full" ocean view! Not only do they have a first class steakhouse right on the premises, they also offer room service and are conveniently located right across the street from Nick's Steak & Seafood which not only has great food, but a live band and dancing...SOOOOOO much fun!!

I will be telling everyone I know how incredible this place is, and I will most definitely be returning just as soon as I possibly can!!!!!!!

Absolutely horrible service. We arrived around 11pm and had no idea where to park. We were told to drive up the street and that we would see a parking garage. Right outside this lobby, is the parking garage but we were told repeatedly to drive up the street somewhere, no certain direction of any type. We were told we had a 4th floor room, I explained that I have a disability and cannot make it to the 4th floor room as I do not use elevators. She said there was nothing she could do. I ended up hiking up 8 flights of stairs somehow by a miracle, I didn't have a heart attack. It was the most painful and horrible experience I have ever had. When we finally reached the room, we called and asked for a luggage cart to carry luggage up and she said they had nothing to offer. My husband had to carry all the luggage upstairs without any assistance of any kind.

When in the room, the beds are flimsy at best, more like a deflated air mattress. Horribly uncomfortable.

The beach view was over the buildings with the beach half a mile away. We had a better view of smoky glass and the smell of biscuits baking for breakfast. This hotel gave us nothing in terms of breakfast or otherwise. Not even a cup of tea.

When I went to the front desk at 6am, I was met by a very rude and sarcastic hispanic woman that was very rude to us. We tried to explain to her what happened the night before that we had no cart for the luggage - she immediately ripped into me yelling at me and said we were supposed to call early. I asked her what she meant and she would not explain. I told her there's no way we could have called earlier if we didn't get into the hotel to know the circumstances until 11pm as we had never been here before. She was repeatedly rude to us and continued to repeat herself saying we should have called earlier. This made no sense to me whatsoever.

I told her I had no idea what to do about the 4th floor and no idea about the parking as the person the night before could not explain or help us whatsoever. She was just beyond helpful and refused any kindness of any kind. I finally gave up and said I would call corporate about the matters. She couldn't have cared less.

I would never return to this hotel ever again. Horrible service and a room that is way too high on the 4th floor, unless you requested it. NOT family friendly at all.

not good for the price , the bed not comfortable and the place has gone down hill not good up- keep and I feel it was much better when owned by Best Western. The price has increased and comfort and service has gone downhill and they really didn't seem to care about it . Then even took away the use to be hot cookies they gave at check in wow really that cost that much to show your appreciation to your customers. The noise was horrible too all night running exhaust or generator not sure what i was but it was loud and bed uncomfortable to boot.
Not recommended for sure not anymore we use to come hear yearly but too far gone down - hill now. Probably wont' be be back

This is not what we expected for an oceanfront, Trademark Collection property. The bathroom had mildew growing on the wallpaper and the bottom of the door was swollen from water damage. The carpet was damp with moisture to the point that we were forced to change our socks and wear shoes inside the room. There was a leak around the sliding door and the carpet there was wet enough to soak through our socks. We noticed the walls throughout the hallways of the building had water damaged wallpaper.

It was unsettling that half the hotel, including the lighthouse, was dark and looked condemned and dangerous, yet it was not acknowledged during booking or check in. The parking garage was in disrepair and had sections taped off due to falling concrete. We're surprised that this property appears to have been in this dilapidated condition for some time without any noticeable efforts to improve or repair the issues. We would not be surprised to see this place become condemned or deemed unfit for hotel usage in the near future.

When we handed over the keycards to check out in the morning, the woman at the front desk did not exhibit the bare minimum of friendliness expected for a customer facing representative. We do not understand why there are so many positive reviews of this hotel -- we would not recommend staying at this hotel and could not get out of there fast enough. It's too bad, since it is a prime location on the water and could be a thriving property.

The views are amazing, the hotel is in disrepair. There is a blue tarp and yellow construction tape around half of the hotel and parking garage. There was no mention of this on the website. We pulled into the underground garage and thought we entered into a murder scene. I reserved, a junior suite with ocean views and found out at check in that it was in the closed section, again no mention on the website. The room I received had smudged dirty windows, an ink stained comforter and no heat. The shower had absolutely no water pressure and the internet was exceptionally slow. The consolation was that my room had amazing views (4th floor), you just had to peer over the rusty rooftop of the hotel to see it. The front desk person was very accommodating and she made a great recommendation to go to the hotel restaurant which was well appointed, it had a beautiful bar but the dinner was overpriced for the quality. It cost ($200 for a couple and we only had 2 drinks). Needless to say, my birthday couples get away was salvaged by breakfast at Nick's across the street and a walk on Rockaway beach in the morning, which is steps away from the hotel. Great location, average hotel, I would give it a C+.

Was really disappointed on arrival when I saw how old, rundown and outdated the place is. Not what is advertised - as a Trademark Wyndham property?? Room had a slightly musty smell, decor is so drab and there are few amenities - cheap plastic and/or paper cups. Definitely not coming back here.

The hotel is literally falling down. The walls in our room appeared to be buckling or there was so much moisture in the room that the wallpaper was bubbles. This place may have once been a wonderful destination but it is that no longer. The spa was out of service and the pool was dirty we wouldn’t have swam even if we wanted to. Half the hotel was blocked off and not rentable likely because it could collapse at any moment (it appeared anyway) we were reserved for 3 nights but we stayed one night and checked out promptly the next day. You should not be in good conscience renting rooms without disclaimers at the very least as to the condition of the hotel. The spot is perfect would be perfect place to tear down the existing structure and then rebuild then it may be worth 250 a night or more.

It depends on what type of beach you are looking for? There is a small beach to the right of the hotel facing the ocean, the surf might be intimidating for swimming. There is a larger beach south of the hotel and walking distance is about a mile over a hill.

This hotel is located about a few freeway exits away from the Bart Station, in which you can ride the metro into San Francisco. We did this when we stayed there. The ride into San francisco is only about 15 minutes by metro. If you drive it will take around 20-25 minutes. Parking can be expensive in San Francisco. Hope this helps
