Asilomar has a great location for its reasonable rates. A short walk to the beach where you can see a great sunset or walk down to Spanish Bay. Inside the property are amazing meadows and forests--there is really nothing like it. Also pretty cool Julia Morgan architecture spread throughout in the older buildings. Rooms are pretty simple but clean. Buildings...

If only the hotel rooms and conference facilities were worthy of the beach and forest views and grounds, But they are budget at best. The food is adequate and plentiful. Given the expensive resorts and homes in the Carmel, Pacific Grove, Monterey area, Asilomar is the only affordable center for large meetings. Just be prepared for less than stellar facilities....

Asilomar is a state park run facility. If you bear this in mind, you won't be surprised that the rooms are bare bones, with no televisions. My room did come with a picture window that looked out over the cypress trees to the coastline and breakers, which was pretty nice. As with other "like" park facilities such as at Yosemite,...

We found a deal online for a ton with a fireplace. So happy we stayed here. We will be back. Yes...the rooms are older, no T.V. (good!) and pretty basic. The bed was super comfortable and everything was clean. We had a nice fireplace that took the chill off, and a balcony that looked out into a wooded area. While...

Here for a conference. Paying over $200 night for a room that at best is at Motel 6 level. Run down, not clean, outdated, wallpaper and paint peeling. The ocean view is lovely but not worth the money. The conference rooms also are run down and lack basic support for conference meetings. Poor choice.

If you were looking for a basic youth hostel experience close to nature, at a price to match, the Asilomar would be perfect. However, the rooms are crazily expensive, very, very sparsely furnished in cheap materials, hardly reflective of a rate of $188 a night. Meals are also very costly. In short, the Asilomar is not worth it at all...

My wife and I have stayed at Asilomar many times in the past but last November (2016) was the first time we were part of a group. We had a family reunion and enjoyed the group experience immensely. We chose an informal approach where small groups enjoyed the day as they liked and met as a group only for dinner....

This is really a great place - I mean the grounds. View is great! Rooms definitely need an upgrade. It doesn't look just old, they look dirty and without maintenance, care. Staff is helpful at the front desk. It is not the same at the restaurant sometimes. Underwhelming. If you like architecture you must pay a visit to Asilomar to...

Asilomar has beautiful grounds nearly on the beach at Asilomar State Park. The view is fabulous. The rooms, however, are very spartan so don't expect much. The historic room we were in was tiny, looked like it hadn't been updated since built in the '60's and didn't even have a coffee maker. I was told you could "request" one at...

Asilomar is nestled between the pines only a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean on the Monterey Peninsula. The buildings are mostly wooden rustic lodges that give it great character. Many of the rooms have there own fireplaces contributing to the charm. Unfortunately, the catering, although improved over the past few years, leaves something to be desired. Still you can't...
